And that's the case! Aside from checking out the mama and baby animals of all kinds, the blueberries are the best done around and the goat cheese. A M A Z I N G!! It's the creamiest most delicious goat cheese I've ever had! Our favorite is the Italian but it sells out fast, garlic is second and chive and pepper is great as well. Plain is just deliciously simple and the goat's milk feta is out of this world. On top of all of that they have home made lotions, soaps and other goodies for sale. Always polite and helpful, always best quality, best deal and a MUST stop if you're within an hour of this place!!!

The cheeses here are made with care. I liked the "cami" and other aged cheeses a lot. The other goat cheeses were not goat-y enough lacking that zing that you get in a goat cheese. The owners are both sweet and what you would expect from down east Maine couple. For blueberry picking it is bet to call ahead to ensure that someone is home. I forgot to call the day before so when no one answered the phone in my way over I was chancing whether they would be around. What luck! They were home, working tirelessly on the conveyor belt that is in their old garage. When I parked my car I was greeted by an old black lab ( I have a huge soft spot for black labs). I greeted him with head pats and ear scratches. The wife approached me and I asked if I could rake some blueberries. She said I could and went to get her husband to have him bring me to a good spot. I was given an overview of how to rake since it had been a year since I last visited their farm. When left to my own devices, I took in the quiet surroundings, the smell of blueberries, and the soft breeze coming over the large field of berries. What tranquility! I began my raking with first novice representation and soon starting to feel like an old pro. It doesn't take a lot to get the hang of it. In about 40 minutes or less I had picked two flats worth. I pulled my wagon over to the garage where the fun part began. The husband lugged the flats to the top of the conveyor belt. My instructions were to stand at the lower part and pick out the stems and gross stuff closer to me. After one round we took the ones on the far end and did it again. I enjoyed being a big part of all the processes which also helped the price(big fan of that). I had brought my own containers, so I didn't have pint boxes or too many ziplock bags bumping around in my car, which was a huge help and I recommend. Everyone must go here! Such a wonderful experience that I have made into an annual event.

This is a small farmers market on Saturday mornings in the supermarket parking lot on Route 1 in…read morethe heart of Milbridge. On the particular Saturday, there were several cheese purveyors, an organic meat purveyor (bacon, pork, eggs, chicken), a bread stand and a flower stand. It's small but has some variety. It's only on Saturday mornings so it's very hard for travelers that are visiting for just one week because they are either leaving or too late arriving for the market. Great for those who want to buy local and live close by or who are staying more than a week.

Organic markets are not typical but this place is as atypical as it gets. You will see the sign…read moreoff of Route 1 and you will start to second guess yourself as you drive a few miles down the road only to see the sign falling down that reads the names of various vegetables. At this sign, your GPS will tell you to turn right down a gravel road, Cross Rd, and you will go another 1+ mile down a deserted road to the farm. The farm itself is run by Mr and Mrs Perlman who have worked this farm for more than four decades, raised 2 children to adulthood, without central heating, electric, or plumbing! Their story is truly amazing yet they have managed to build an organic farm that supplies individuals and local restaurants. They have a system here that they have developed and expect to conform if you wish to eat the fruits of their labors. Call on Monday. Mrs Perlman will tell you what they have for you to pick up at your appointed time on Thursday. This is not drive up when you feel like it. They are too busy working. Parking can be a challenge here as the merchants and the stands take up the lot and you park on one side of Rte 187.
