We sampled foods from Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Argentina. All the other booths didn't look as appetizing as these but to each is their own! Australia and South America booths had kangaroo and crocodile sandwiches but we were too full to try them. Leave room for freshly made bunuelos (taste like funnel cake in mini donut form) covered with whatever sweet topping (nutella, caramel,etc).

The event is very popular and getting a taxi or bus at night may require a long wait. What ia there to see: -seeing locals dress up in beautiful clothes -watch impromptu flamenco danses - enjoy the andalucian culture and hospitality If you are not a local, look out for the casetas open for tourists and business. Best to dress up a bit, to be able to mix in with the crowd. Parties continue well until 5am next morning.

When I checked in at my hotel I asked what was going on and the desk clerk advised me it was the fair which started on Tuesday and ran until Sunday. It was late night and I realized this was the fair I saw on Rick Steve's travel show on PBS and was founded in 1846 as a livestock fair. It has evolved into the largest fair in Spain. We ended taking a cab to the fair and it was around 1:00 am to check it out. I was in Awe....by the number of people present and how big this event is - 24 blocks in size! The party goes non stop and over 5 million people attending this event in the six days it's open. There are over 1000 rented booths consisting of families, friends, business groups and political parties. Each booth has their own bar, kitchen, DJ or live band. The men and women were dressed to kill for this event and especially the ladies were stunning in their Flamingo dresses. It was amazing to experience this massive around the clock party and I'm elated to have experience this massive fair. I love film festivals, so I was thrilled to hear that our time in Sevilla coincided with the…read moreSevilla European Film Festival. The festival screens films in a number of categories (documentaries, official selections, Andalusian films, 'up-and-coming' directors, junior films) and the website, which is sometimes hard to navigate but is in both Spanish and English, lists all the films and their screening times, along with short descriptions of the films. I was impressed by the sheer variety of films screened, the quality and diversity of the films, and the tremendous energy that circulates around the festival (e.g. the festival also organizes free concerts every night). I was also impressed by the low price for tickets (3 Euros per ticket is about $4.05 for a movie ticket - about $7 cheaper than anything at home) and by the very comfortable screening venues. We bought our tickets the day they went on sale, which I would recommend, even though it meant standing in a very long, and very slow moving line at the Alameda theater. The only downside- if you aren't a fluent Spanish speaker, choose your films with care- the website does list which films are subtitled, but once, we chose a film that promised English subtitles only to discover there were none! My Spanish was good enough to understand most of the film, and I would simply whisper key pieces of information to my husband who could get about 30% of what was going on, but it was frustrating nonetheless. When I emailed the festival to note the error, they simply said "it is a mistake, and we apologize for the inconveniences."
