Neither my husband nor I ever took karate, so we were not sure what to expect. Sensei Ken Piper quickly accommodated us and spent an hour with us describing the program and costs, and then provided a demo lesson to show our son what would be expected during a class. Our son loved it so much we signed him (and his older brother) up. Both have been attending for nearly a year now and are now orange belts. We appreciate that not only are they learning various forms of karate (basics, sparring, kata), but they are also learning self-discipline and respect. They have taken the lessons from the dojo to their classroom and home. Pricing is very affordable, especially for parents considering joining along with their children. Packages are available from 1 lesson a week to unlimited classes. Special add-on lessons (weapons and seminars) are also available. The schedule is very convenient with evening and Saturday classes. Beginners can move through their first few belts within their first year which is encouraging. The Senseis are very patient with all ages and abilities, and a typical class usually has a diverse group of 10-15 students ages 7 years old to 50. Safety and hygiene are also emphasized, especially mid-pandemic. The facility is good and there is plenty of space for classes and overflow seating for spectators. The studio recently remodeled their waiting area. The studio's goal is for every student to reach Black Belt within a few years, so we hope to stay that long!

My wife and I decided to let her do some trial classes nearby at Mr. Piper's Family Karate Academy. All of the instructors we met were very kind and respectful. It was instantly visible that all of the kids looked up to and respected the staff at this school! The classes were fun and my daughter always enjoyed attending. She never fussed about going to class. Not even once! Which speaks volumes for a 4 year old! They do a great job teaching respect, discipline, manners, being humble... etc. (the whole karate thing!) I started my own martial arts journey nearly 14 years ago at another karate school in my hometown of Mooresville, IN. Not to the fault of Mr. Piper or any of his instructors, I ultimately made the personal decision to resume classes (now with my daughter) at my hometown dojo. I would like to thank Mr. Piper for re-igniting the passion I once had for martial arts by enthralling my daughter into the karate lifestyle! I would definitely recommend Mr. Piper's Family Karate Academy to anyone who is interested in becoming a martial artist!

Not knowing what to do, I began searching for something fitness related that wouldn't make me feel like a hamster on a wheel; I found Indianapolis Martial Arts Club. It was/is a workout that is both physically challenging and fun. I had to end my membership after the first year, because I went out of state for school, but I always remembered strenuous but enjoyable workouts. June of 2016 I joined once again, this time my Mom did too. We've been learning together in a way that strengthens our relationship and our muscles! Ray, James, and Stephanie are full of encouraging advice on how to improve your form and get strong. They're constantly challenging you to be better than you were before, and you will receive a lot of personal attention for improvement. It's not just a workout, its learning a SKILL, and they've studied it for years. My advice would be to give it a try, but understand your budget. Quality education requires a time commitment and a financial commitment. Make sure you're ready for both, and have fun.

So before I started cancer treatment my son went to Sarkine's Total Warrior now Indianapolis Martial Arts Club on west Washington St. ran by James and Ray (the owner) well I was sick and not working and not able to afford to keep paying them, so I let them know I needed to cancel! I explained my medical issue before knowing I had cancer I was just extremely sick everyday with no explanation. They advised to cancel in writing so I did that. They sent me a letter and I returned the remaining things to cancel. I hear nothing back they don't reach out about lack of payment lack of attendance anything. Then while I'm sick and fighting for my life literally they sue me over a contract that I cancelled. I missed court due to being sick, they garnish my wages once I start working. Then I am rediagnosed and unable to work and have no income this gym hires and attorney to attempt to get more money. I explain my current terminal cancer diagnoses and that I'm not working and that I had cancelled the contract. Today they levied my account for almost $5,000. This gym has predatory business values to say the least so if you ever have considered doing business with Ray or James please be aware of their true human nature. They will be getting a 1 star review from me and I would appreciate any assistance to shed light on the type of business they run. They also have a secondary location off Allisonville Rd. Please leave them a 1 start google review they need to feel this in their pockets too I'm definitely not the only one they have done this too!!!!!
