I've been coming here for years to adust my four eyes both for contacts and glasses. Yes, I'm pretty blind but the good thing is that my vision has been stable for the last few years. Their location recently moved from the Glendale Galleria to a place located at 501. S. Glendale Ave. just south of Colorado Blvd. Parking is abundant since it's located at a not so busy plaza. I'm glad they moved cause parking at the mall sucks. The staff here are very friendly. They know me by now since I've been coming here for a while. Dr. Truc Dang is very personable and helpful. Not only is she an expert in eyes, she knows some good pastrami places too. She informs you of the health of your eyes. It's more than just vision, they scan the internal part of your eyes to check for healthy blood vessels. Increased blood vessels are signs of diabetes and other health concerns. They have a good selection of frames and they do a great job in keeping you informed when your order is in. I keep on coming here because they're consistent on their diagnosis and very personable. read more

Dr. Truc Dang is the most personable Optometrist I've met with in LA after hopping from place to place for years, and I will absolutely be coming here for all my appointments going forward. They have a very positive and caring attitude, turning what could be the most boring part of your day into an enjoyable experience. I called near the end of the work day to see if they could squeeze in a last minute appointment (after realizing that I was on my last set of contacts), was being seen within 15 minutes of first dialing, and left the office with spare contacts to tide me over for the weekend until my order arrives. my brother Joseph A has been coming here for years and I wish I had known! well it's never too late and I'm so happy I decided to give them a try. Dr. Dang, as most of the reviews say, is a wonderful and very personable, yet very professional and highly qualified optometrist. I could stop short and just say she is an absolute sweetheart. go see her, you won't regret it. so thanks to her, the blind lady in me is so relieved that she's finally found a doctor who doesn't just go through the routine of taking your exam... one or two, which is better? two or three, now which is better? etc etc... the last few times I went through that I noticed having difficulty with my close up vision, and also some distortion with my far vision, but wasn't sure how to go about it or express that to my doctor. being that I am practically legally blind, and Dr. Dang's awareness of that, she was very careful with writing my prescription. while on the one hand, she could give me a prescription for my heavy nearsightedness, that prescription could also affect the quality of my close-up reading. it's a fine balance, which she understood, and took the extra time to help me find that place. she was very thorough with my exam, and also checked the health of my eyes, which I greatly appreciated being that I wear contacts for at least 14 hours a day, and have been doing so for about 30 years. after my exam I returned to try on several contact lens samples that Dr. Dang had ordered. I had never had such an extensive contact lens fitting. Dr. Dang spent plenty of time with me to make sure that I could see properly and feel comfortable. sure enough, I had to try on at least four sets of contacts. she helped me figure what I would be at ease with and really knew the best approach. I am so thankful for her knowledge, experience and mostly, her genuine care. not only does she want to get the job done, she wants it done right. sure, she can write me a prescription, but that doesn't mean I am going to have the best possible and comfortable vision. thank you Dr. Dang for helping me accomplish this. this office offers a nice selection of frames and accepts VSP insurance. I am very happy with my new pair of retro-ish Lulu Guiness frames, with lenses scratch free, ultra ultra thin high index, polished around the edges, polarized, etc etc with all the bells and whistles... and my new monthly contacts feel great! read more

I really wish I could say that I'm completely happy with this business because there are things that I like, but there seems to be a bad apple working here that had left me not so impressed. Dr. Dang and Reggie are awesome. Reggie has a wonderful attitude and is highly professional. I was impressed that the optometrist took so much time with my husband and I when we came in for our exams. She was extremely thorough and informative. The problems start after we have left and have both been sent home with samples. My husband didn't like the contact samples that were suggested by the optometrist because they were uncomfortable. I told him to call and order his contacts before year end because he hadn't used his benefit and he was told his contacts would be $50 after insurance for a 6 month supply. So he called in an order on 12/29 which would have been in the benefit year. So we go out of town, enjoy New Years and he decides to call to see if his contacts have arrived. The older associate (not Reggie) says with a strange attitude that the contacts would take at least a month because they were being ordered through insurance. He said it like my guy was expecting something out of the ordinary. Okay. That's weird. I have never heard this before nor had to wait a month and I've always used insurance. So, let's say that is the case. I would think for something as important as eyesight that you would tell the customer they will have to wait for a month to see. Seriously, all he had was samples prior to placing the order so give him more samples or something. Also, this doesn't fly because at the time of our exam I orders new contacts and they came in well before a months time. The second issue was that I called to get a colored contact sample. The same associate couldn't find my chart. It was so annoying. He put me on hold twice for excessively long times and then got back on asking for my name AGAIN! My name isn't difficult and I know how to speak clearly. What is wrong with you? That really wasn't such an annoyance as the fact that he has a rude tone and is not customer service minded. He asked "Are you sure you've been here before? Really? So I'm the problem. I couldn't believe someone would ask a customer that. So I finally hung up because he couldn't find my file. He chose to call my husbands number an hour later and say he was looking for me. That's not appropriate. Also, how did you know this person is my husband? I wasn't a customer an hour ago. He left a snotty message on my line telling me I couldn't get a sample because I had to be fitted by the doctor first. Well, I disagree because when I came into the establishment, I was wearing the same brand of contacts and she and I discussed them. There are no variations on the sizing for these so I'm not paying for an exam to tell me what I already know. I was simply interested in testing other colors. So I basically ignored his message and just placed an order online for a color that I thought looked cool. Very long story coming to an end. My husbands contacts were not ordered when he called on 12/29 so his contacts were allocated under the new 2016 insurance, he lost his benefit for 2015. When he needs contacts 6 months from now they will be entirely out of pocket. More attention to detail when dealing with the customer and especially being timely with customers using insurance are necessary. read more

The doctor was ok but the front receptionist was not the friendliest and the worst was the older man who did some sort of eye exam before I saw the doctor . It was my first visit and I didn't know what to expect , the older man called me to a chair and had me put my chin on a device , as I leaned in he told me to raise my forehead which was not possible because then I would have to lift my head off the device. Instead of helping me out by bringing the device down he literally grabbed my head and pushed me into the device. I was in shock. I didn't believe what happened . He's very cranky . I'm really disappointed of how my niece was treated here. Over the years, the treatment by the staff has dramatically decreased. My niece being a patient here for several years now, was questioned by Reggie and interrogated as if she was not a patient at this location. And was highly annoyed when she asked questions to further understand his questioning on certain topics discussed. Dr. Dang is wonderful and understanding on your eye-related concerns. However, she needs to consider gaining a new team to assist her in the office. To confuse and make patients question why they had to be seen and demand certain information when it's already stated on file, is not right. I will be taking my niece elsewhere. read more

Been coming here for over two years and didn't appreciate the great service, selection and pricing until I deigned to go elsewhere. Believe me, you don't really appreciate what you have until it's gone for a minute. My hubby broke his glasses and needed a new pair fast. We went to Insight for his previous pair, but knew it took about a week to get the glasses back and he didn't want to wait. To make a long story short, we went to LensCrafters in Glendale Galleria who lied about not taking our insurance, gave a completely useless eye exam which ended up yielding an incorrect prescription, along with no customer service coupled with a frightening lack of selection. My hubby got his glasses the next day, the prescription totally wrong. We then did the smart thing and got a refund then called Insight again. We got an appointment in the same week. We were met with knowledgeable, friendly customer service and fantastic advice. They confirmed they took our insurance over the phone. The optometrist confirmed that the other prescription was completely wrong and even compared the new, correct prescription to his old one to check for any abnormal degradation in vision for the last two years. When it was time to pick out frames, we were shown glasses that were similar to what MDH was wearing. The salesguy (I'm horrible and can't remember his name) was patient and friendly. He made sure we found the frames we wanted in the right price. In the end, MDH had to wait about 1 week for his glasses but it was so worth it. I will never stray away again, Insight! read more

I'm such a loser at times ! Lol but this place made me feel like I had my life together for once . . I was looking through my Vsp insurance website and I wanted a location open late on Saturday's . I called a few places . Nobody took same day appointments. I was desperate to get an eye exam right after work . Then I found "Insight optometry " open till 7 pm on Saturdays . I gave them a call they scheduled me at 5pm same day ! I was so exited !! I was off from work at 4 and I drove from west Hollywood to Glendale ! I arrived 5 minuetes before my appointment happily they had free !!!parking !! I walked in there and I filled out one sheet of information . I didn't get the guys name at the front but he was very relax and had my name on the appointment book and it made me feel good that they were actually fitting me in their schedule !! He had my insurance authorization letter printed out tooThat was the 3 good sign lol . It took only 2 minutes before I got called . Took one of the eye exams . Then I met The Doctor ! I loved the set up in the exam room . Something totally different than what I'm used to . It was a very relaxing experience . I loved loved my eye exam ! The lighting in there was really magical . Doctor , listened to me all the way . She made me feel like I could annoy her and she would still be my friend at the end of the day . I have a problem with my right eye and I kept asking the doctor to keep changing lenses ! Her service and patients were very heart warming ! Very smart and I understood every advice and tips that were given to me by the doctor ! Then It was time to look for glasses ! I had joe help me . I was so happy that he had my authorization letter on hand while we shopped . Making sure I looked at everything my insurance covered ! He didn't make me feel like I had to hurry up and "pick a damm pair" lol . He also didn't make me feel like he was pushing anything on me . He made the experience fun ! Joe actually was the one who picked out my glasses . He pays good attention to detail . For a moment I felt like I i was going over budget and Joe quickly helped me find something a little similar that fit the budget . To my surprise lol I went over budget eventually . We went here because they accept our VSP insurance and also because of their positive yelp reviews. Like others have said, this place is definitely conveniently located and the optometrist is really great. I would recommend this place if you have had trouble with optometrists in the past. She looked over our existing prescriptions and told us there were only slight changes, meaning that we could hold off if we wanted. I liked not feeling pressured to buy. As for the rest of the visit, the frames were reasonably priced and they had great styles. We were happy with our selections. My glasses got in about a week after ordering, but my husband's took an additional week. Also, they never called to tell us they were ready. I called 3 times until finally someone said they were there. When had they arrived? They never said. Well, no place is perfect. The staff is friendly and the glasses have been great. read more

I have gotten my last two pairs of glasses here. I'm very very picky about my frames. I've looked at a ton of other places but always seem to find the perfect pair here. They carry all the high end brands gucci, dolce & gabbana, Dior ( no Chanel though ) but they also carry basic frames if you don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I'm a little confused about my recent visit . I went in because I had been suffering from migraines and seeing. Floaters on the left side of my face . I chose this optometrist because of all the great reviews and because they accept my VSP Insurance . However when I got there I didn't think the staff was very friendly , they barley spoke to me, the gentlemen at the front desk was on his phone the whole time, didn't offer me a seat when I was filling out paperwork. The older man that worked there was friendly enough but I don't know the vibe there was odd. The doctor was knowledgeable and thorough with my exam but scared me when she said my test indicated glaucoma but said it could be a false positive and to come back in a year ... ok??? So glad I found this place! I LOVE eye doctors. Eye doctor appointments are probably my favorite because I know I have great eyes (and it's so fun to try on glasses, even if you don't need them). I looked for a while to find a new place now that I'm down in the LA area. I happen to really like Glendale, as opposed to doing my appointments near downtown, because of convenience. I finally turned to yelp to find a place and so glad I did. This place is really clean, great parking in the private back lot, open later, and the service I've received has always been pleasant. The front desk guy (his name is on the tip of my tongue) is so nice and helpful. I didn't feel the pressure to upgrade to anything or that I had to find something super quick and leave. They also had my frames ready within 3 days! Only downside (and actually I don't mind but some people might) is they aren't very technology friendly. They do all appointments over the phone. Receipts and files are handwritten. However, this makes them remember you and not feel like just another customer. You actually have to interact with them. read more

This place definitely deserves 5 stars. I went to this optometrist for the first time last month and was completely satisfied with the service I was given. Dr. Dang was very nice and professional. The year prior to coming to this optometry office I went to another office near by and as it turned out was given my glasses prescription backwards (RX for wrong eyes) . Thankfully Dr. Dang corrected the RX and I received my new glasses in less than a week. I have never been able to see so clearly. I'm from Houston so it was pure luck that I found this place near closing time. Dr. Dang was personable and knowledgeable and did a thorough exam that my optometrist I have been going to for years has never done. The results were a bit concerning so she repeated the exam and dilated my eyes. I left with contacts that I found out later were the exact same prescription as the ones I lost so she obviously knows what she's doing. For those who hate the machine that rudely puffs hurricane forced winds all the way to the back of your retinas, you'll be excited to know, she carries state of the art devices that renders such archaic tests obsolete! Dr. Dang also has a sense of humor which is a plus in my book. I browsed their collection of Gucci, Prada and Marc Jacobs glasses but couldn't resist these red, plastic, trendy but subtle Christian Diors. The staff even looked up my insurance. THE CAT'S MEOW!!! I am so thankful for the lovely gentlemen at insight optometry. I needed new frames and very specific lenses in a hurry! I went to Lense Crafters in the Glendale Galleria, and not only did they try to charge me $500 for mediocre frames, but also an insane amount for the lenses. They were annoying and dull. Then I went to Insight optometry, and received excellent, non-pushy service. I needed my glasses in less than a week because I was going to be leaving to shoot a movie in Boston. Sure enough, they were able to do so for half the price! At the ast minute I realized that I had forgotten to tell them that I needed anti-glare lenses, but when I called them they took care of everything went out of their way to personally pick up my glasses (instead of normally having them delivered) just so I would be able to have them in time with the anti-glare and everything. They are kind, classy professional and helpful. They put extra care into making sure my frames fit my face properly and had the right clothes for my specific type of lenses. I was in this center today, and all of the staff were helpful and kind. The doctor who works there is really nice and patient. She would examine your eyes carefully and answer all your questions. I did the eye exam and also ordered a glass from them. I had a good feeling and feel like they don't only do business there, but help people get the right eye glasses and lenses. I cannot say enough good things about Insight Optometry and the doctor there. I went in for a routine eye appointment a few weeks ago and got new glasses and contacts and the service was incredible. First, the doc recommended I go with a slightly lower prescription to keep my eyes from tiring out while I stared at the computer, which has been helping a lot even in just a couple days with my headaches. We talked about my issues with my eyes getting dry, which made it hard for me to wear contacts for more than sometimes even just half an hour. She was eager to find something that worked and gave me a couple samples. She even made sure to point out that one kind was more expensive so i was aware. Unfortunately, neither of those samples helped and I went back on Saturday to pick up my glasses and mentioned that neither kind of contacts was working for me. This is particularly a concern for me as I'm getting married this week and I wanted to wear contacts but not be suffering all day! The doctor recommended another brand, had me try on the only samples they had which weren't in my prescription, and when I said they felt better, she offered to rush order a couple boxes and samples for me so they would arrive before my wedding. Got the call today that they're in. Cannot believe how far above and beyond this place is from any other eye doctor I've ever been to. read more

I called several local optometry stores and many didn't take my insurance- VSP. Finally spoke with Joe who was courteous, very professional and didn't ask me unnecessary questions about my insurance- seemed to know what he was doing off the bat. Came in two days later for an appointment with Dr. Hsieh who was outstanding! I came from NY and thought I had had a good Eye Doctor there who had ended up giving me a messed up eye glass prescription that I have been struggling with for the past year. Dr. Hsieh corrected the situation, additionally catching another undiagnosed issue, fit my contact lenses and made me laugh a few times during the visit. She is extremely professional, genuine and successfully connects with patients. She also knows what she's doing. I forgot my prescription on the way out and came back and dealt with Reggie who is also awesome- nice, polite, etc. Everyone here seems present, and genuinely concerned with the quality of care that they give.
