These drinks are so cute but WOW, they are strong!!! They do not skimp on that alcohol... I arrived on a Friday night at 8:30 PM and it was an hour wait. We were able to put our name down and they texted us when a spot opened up. Once we entered, it's a stimulating ocean-themed interior! An octopus sprawled across the ceiling, the wooden-textured furniture, and the bartenders all wearing tropical designs... It's a tiny, but fun atmosphere! I ordered the Amazombie 2.0, which was honestly... hard to drink! It was REALLY strong and the fruity flavors hardly came through. Didn't taste any acai or passionfruit... Got lucky to get reservation for 5pm on a Saturday last minute for 4. We got there early and they are not joking when they say that door opens at 5. We had a few minutes wait but they let us in right at 5pm and right to our table. Lets start with the décor. Wow is this place fun. Nautical themed pictures, art and décor everywhere. The giant octopus on the celling is a lot of fun. So many cocktails come in themed glasses as well. The drinks are expensive and very light on the pour but they taste good and for the experience its worth it one time. We had the Salmon rolls, Papaya salad, Brea wontons, smoked mushroom bao and sliders. All the food was really good. Surprisingly compared to the drinks the food was really well priced. My favorite was the salmon spring roll. Great flavor and not fishy. The staff is very friendly and let us stay 30 minutes after our stay(2 hours for a reservation). Fantastic drinks, good vibes, and beautiful presentation! This spot is located inside Rumba within a narrow passage. We made a reservation ahead of time and checked in with the people in front of Rumba before getting seated. Their menu has both food and drinks, with drinks ranging from your classic cocktails to their specialty ones. You definitely come here for the specialty drinks though, and that's what we decided on. We got the Inside Passage and the Dinglehopper, both of which were fantastic. The inside passage was super strong but fruity, and there were so many fun little accessories on the drink. Same with the dinglehopper, but it was a lot stronger with the tequila. I really enjoyed both though, and would highly recommend. These definitely have enough alcohol in them too, so come prepared haha. Overall, we had such a fun time here and I would definitely recommend it and come back! read more

This is my go to bar whenever I want to get wasted. The ambiance and decor are super nice and really give off tiki bar vibes. The drinks are very strong but still taste fairly nice, although if I'm being completely honest, most of the drinks don't really taste how they sound on the menu. I feel like most of the drinks here market themselves on being picturesque, and on that, they definitely deliver. One of the drinks I usually get here is the Amazombie. The cachaca, passion fruit, and lime kinda give off the same vibes as a mai tai hitting the same sweet, fruity, and citrusy notes while still being original. I also like the One-Eyed Willy. It's a more spirit forward drink so definitely only get it if you like the taste of rum, but I do and it was great. read more

We loved Inside Passage, hands down. My biggest advice to anyone considering visiting is to make a reservation - the likelihood you'll get in without one is very slim. Let's get down to it. Would I call Inside Passage a tiki bar? No. I'd call it a tiki restaurant. Think less Hele Pele and more Tonga Room. The drinks are served in fantastic mugs and the honey's was served with dry ice so it fogged from the base. Between the Nada Colada and the Unleaded, I preferred the Unleaded because the Colada didn't have much to it. We ordered a lot of food since it was the last time we'd be in Seattle for a while. A few of the items we ordered were the Bao (too mushroom forward for me), the beef burger (neither of us expected a hamburger patty), and the shrimp corndogs. Both of us agreed that there was something about biting into what should be a corndog, but doesn't have the same texture or taste of a corndog that was off-putting. Everything equal, we would have preferred a spam-dog over shrimp. Our favorites were the Maduros (plantains) and the spam fried rice. That spam fried rice made our night. It was probably one of our favorite dishes we've had this year. It had a perfect flavor profile, fried rice (I added on the over easy egg), with salty spam and soft veggies as well as some cashew nuts thrown in for a crunchy surprise. All in all, the service was friendly and prompt and we will definitely be stopping in to try more of their menu next time we're in Seattle. If you're in town you should absolutely stop in! read more

Inside Passage is a sea-themed speakeasy connected to the bar, Rumba. Reservations are a must, especially on Friday and weekend nights. My boyfriend and I grabbed the last reservation for Friday evening at 10:30pm about five days in advance. Parking like in most of Capitol Hill is street parking only and so we were fortunate to get a spot only a few blocks down. We checked in and were escorted to the side of Rumba where the atmosphere was transformed into what resembled the inside of a ship compete with a steering wheel and fake sea creatures, including a big kraken on the ceiling. Seating is tight as to be expected at a small speakeasy. We browsed the menu and the first couple of pages are just merchandise you can buy. I'm not sure who buys the items though because the mugs were the priciest mugs I had ever seen at $85-$125 each. You could also buy a fresh copy of the menu for $35 which I thought was an odd item to sell... The next few pages had their drink menu. They had 10 different signature cocktails and then a list of their more classic cocktails on the last page. They had a small separate food menu too with appetizers to share. I ordered the FOUR BOYS cocktail which had Jamaican and Bajan rums, mango, rice milk, Ube, lime, and ginger served in a mini rice cooker. The mini rice cooker was very cute and came with dried ice. The drink itself was very gingery with a hint of fruitiness; I can't say I tasted much of the rice milk or ube. While the drink container was big, it was mostly ice which was slightly disappointing. My boyfriend ordered the BALLARD FOGS CUTTER cocktail which had cognac, gin, absinthe, lemon, orange, honey, Angostora, and salt. It was served in a Viking's horn and topped with a salmon crostini and lots of dill. I definitely tasted the cognac and absinthe. Similar to my drink, there wasn't much liquid volume in it. Lastly, we ordered the SLIDERS to share. The sliders were cooked medium-rare and topped with cheese, lettuce, onion, and all the good slider condiments. They came in a set of three. Our total for the two drinks, sliders, tax, and tip came to about $79 and so it was definitely on the pricier side but comparable in price to other fancier speakeasies in the area like Canon and Needle and Thread. While Inside Passage was a splurge, it was a great date night experience with good vibes throughout the entire experience. A must see tiki bar in Seattle! I made a reservation a few weeks in advance, as the last few times I've tried to walk in, the wait has been long. Luckily, they are able to add you to a waitlist where they can text you when the table is ready for you. The space is small, but packed with fun decorations and features, like the classic octopus hanging from the ceiling. Came here around 10 PM and the wait was around an hour long. However, you can walk and explore around the area while waiting since they text you once your table is ready. Once our table was ready, the host would walk you through a hidden path to the speakeasy tiki bar. The place was decorated nicely and made you feel as if you're in a ship at sea. We ordered two different drinks which came out in an amazing presentation. The drinks tasted alright, but the incredible presentation made up for it. Fun insta-worthy drinks with flames and dry ice you really can't go wrong. Each had its own unique flavors and there were plenty to choose from depending on your preferences. Didn't come here to eat but we did order sweet potato fries which had a great seasoning on them and were perfectly crispy. Alongside the chipotle aioli and curry ketchup it was a nice late night snack. Inside Passage is a bar within another bar, Rumba. There are no signs visible from the street until you enter Rumba. There's a waitlist and we had about a 45 minute wait. We occupied the time by walking around Capitol Hill and going to Unicorn during that time. There is also online reservations to make it easier. When you enter Inside Passage, you're completely transported to a underwater tiki bar. The presentation of the drinks and the décor are all on point and super fun! We ordered several drinks to share: I See A Light ($20), Dinglehopper ($22), The Amazombie 2.0 (22), The Four Boys ($22), and a non-alcoholic IP Unleaded ($16). All were their own distinct combinations. We each ended up at the end of the night with our personal favorites in front of us. I preferred the Amazombie the most. Go ahead and maroon me on the isle of Inside Passage, I'll be fine. A loosely "hidden" tiki bar inside Rumba boasts some high ABV cocktails with some truly creative names and even more creative drinking vessels spattered inside a tropical bar in the Pacific Northwest with a giant octopus on the ceiling. It may be chilly outside, but it's an island paradise in here. Drinks set you back about $20 each but they are STIFFFFFFF and with a 90-minute time limit you can probably only knock back two, maybe three. That's plenty. The only thing that I would pick on was the service. The space is long and skinny and we were seated on one side of the space. If the waiter was on the other end, you couldn't really flag him down until he made his rounds. The ambience and decorations are pretty cool but Inside Passage is relatively small. The drinks are aesthetically on theme but there wasn't anything special about them. Throughout the night, our table was ignored - the server looked at our table and didn't acknowledge us or take our orders until we flagged them down. It's kind of important as you have a limited time there. Additionally, the staff were quick to bus the table - they even were about to take my drink away that was only halfway done. Inside Passage is located within Rumba so if you are coming here, go into Rumba and talk to the hostess to get seated. I came at 5pm on Friday right when they opened and was seated at 5:10pm at the bar. When you walk inside you come across a wonderful environment that is appropriately themed and full of tiki decor. It's not a big place so I would recommend making reservations online beforehand if you can. Beware that they have time limits for parties so they can get people in and out in a timely manner. My first drink was the inside passage ($22) which is of course their namesake drink. It was slightly tart from the lime and the passionfruit and was overall a good drink. My second drink was the four boys ($22) which was mainly ube flavored to pay homage to the Filipino bartenders who inspired this drink. It came in a rice cooker and was a sweeter drink although I felt like it was a little watered down. I really enjoyed watching the bartenders work and make five drinks at once. The drinks are on the pricier side but many of their drinks use dry ice to up the presentation factor which I guess justify the prices. They have a variety of unique drinks in different vessels from a rice cooker to a skull box to even an Amazon box. This is a great fun bar to come with friends and try different drinks. read more
