The on-site restaurant is a bit expensive considering the number of restaurants just outside of the door, and I wasn't impressed with the menu. On the other hand, having a quick snack and then going shopping has always appealed to me. The store variety is astounding, and there are lots of products here you can't find in other stores in the chain throughout the city. The variety alone means that I can make one trip here and get exactly what I need, even if it is for a slightly higher price.

From our apartment, each day we watch the women heading to the market early. I think the key to finding the best vendors is seeing where the ladies line up to purchase their items.

Plus they have a little food area where you can grab a coffee or beer or montadito. We walked around for a bit, picked up a bottle of rosé and vermut (both from the Valencia region), and then stopped by the food area for a bite. Ordered a montadito they recommended, which included a few meats and egg (all ingredients fresh from the market), and downed it with a couple beers. A couple other locals were doing the same, and it felt like we were a regular. A great feeling. When in Valencia, definitely check out the Mercado Central (it's amazing), but be sure to also explore the smaller, neighborhood markets like this one.

Oh, of course I want great coffee. Beat Brew Bar coffee just EXCEEDED all expectations. Today I had a very good late roast pour over made by owner Virginia. I've been here before and had a great cafe con leche with oat milk. Lucio and Virginia put pride and love in their coffee and teas (hubby drinks teas). Lucio has been roasting and brewing since 2008. Yes he is an EXPERT! Trust me. The location is wonderful in the Old City near the Torres de Quart. Great space. Very comfortable and so welcoming. ALL organic. They also make kombucha and specialty coffee and tea drinks. I am hooked and very happy to have found this place early on in my arrival to Valencia. I will be here OFTEN! The two folks behind the counter were incredibly knowledgeable, and the coffee was espectacular! Each of us ordered a different drink and they all looked fantastic.
