I cannot wait to come back to Inman Perk! I think I found my new favorite coffee shop nearby. The iced Vietnamese coffee and breakfast burrito (add avocado and salsa) are so worth the trip! Love this coffee shop. The atmosphere is a thousand times better than Starbucks, and it has tons of comfy inside seating, inside-outside seating (like a porch) and outside seating. I also love the low lighting too. The baristas were really nice when I ordered, and didn't mind any extra weird requests that I always seem to have when ordering anything. Another plus is that they have delicious hormone-free natural ice cream. The only thing I did not like (but not worth losing a whole star over) is that they do not list their prices (at least anywhere I could see). The women's bathroom was well kept and clean, but the sink faucet is a little short, thus causing your hands to touch the inside of the sink (you know what I'm talking about if you've ever been to this bathroom). Alright owners of Inman Perk, we need to talk. I've frequented your coffee shop for three years, in that time frame, I've seen prices increase for inconsistent beverages and service, and since your recent pricing now causes beverages to exceed the average drink at Starbucks it's time to bring up some points. Some of your baristas are amazing. Others, are very obviously looking for their next job by asking patrons if they know who is hiring in the area. This is tacky and indicates some staff is very unhappy. Now let's discuss the decor. 1. It's April. The Christmas chalk mural still dominates the back chalkboard. This leads me to believe that you simply do not care about appearance. 2. The couches. Send those up to WVU during football season. Every. Single. One. Needs. Burned. They are ripped, dirty, smell, and are not even fit for a dog bed. Thank you for replacing the water stained and dusty cloth light fixtures a couple of months back, that was a step in the right direction, but the couches need to go. 3. The cleanliness. Today I'm sitting here with a broken thermostat ripped off a wall and lying on the ledge next to the mirror strip in the wall, a thick layer of dust and grime under the lower wall ledge, and tables that haven't been cleaned, and come to think of it, in the years I've been a patron, I've never seen an employee wipe down a table. You do realize you serve food and beverages here. How are you passing health inspections? Overall, I was willing to look over a few things for a while, but when situations have begun to change towards the unfavorable, my preference to "shop local" is beginning to change when it comes to my coffee preferences. read more

This place is amazing. I love being able to support small business, and all the staff was amazingly nice. I got a turtle mocha frappe and it was super rich and amazing, I don't like caramel very much but it had just a hint of it which was perfect. I also got a raspberry triangle and it was to die for. It was heated up which was perfect. They also encouraged people to not use straws which is big in my book, Ive left places that won't let me use my own cup/reusable straw. I got a caramel latte here and took a sip and was so upset I had to swallow it because I was in a store and couldn't find a place to spit it out. I thought i was being dramatic so I gave it to my dad who is a human garbage can that will eat literally anything and drinks coffee constantly. My dad took one sip and looked like he was about to puke. He asked me why the f I gave him a cup of sewage and asked "What did I do to you?" I have never put something so nasty in my mouth. It felt like a brutal assault. On the other hand, my dad and fiancé got frappuccinos and they said they were good. Still, I would NEVER go back here. it's almost good enough for the 30 minute ride from my home to go here. It's a combination of things that are going on. For me, I really don't like coffee at all. In fact, if there's not a shock inducing amount of sugar in the coffee then I can barely stomach it. Paying $5 for 15 minutes (I drink fast) for a 30 minute caffeine/sugar high has always caused me to be a "hater" of the coffee scene as well. Inman Perk definitely changes that. For one, the coffee (I order Chai Tea now) is cheaper. I can pay for my friends and we can get large drinks and still come in at $5. The atmosphere is very "artsy" but in a real sort of way (as opposed to a fake sort of way that happens at Starbucks). This location has lots of seating and low ceilings. No offense to the staff reading this because it's not a negative, but the staff is ultra friendly which is great but also surprising since they all appear to be fresh out of grunge rock band. In fact, the place looks like it could host a small "unplugged" gathering with no effort at all. The location is perfect for what it is, but would love to see this every square mile than the green monster. read more

This place has a really cool vibe, right on the square with both indoor & outdoor seating and a smoking section out the back door. The decor is modern and comfortable- combining the exposed brick of the old building with the modern light fixtures, making this a great place to plug into their free wifi, sit on their comfy couches or tables and do some work while enjoying a nice smooth cup of coffee. As opposed to some national chains, you can replace regular milk with almond milk in addition to the other alternatives more commonly found (e.g. soy). The staff is friendly, efficient and accommodating. They are a dog friendly establishment. Bypass the chain and support this independent, more interesting shop. Well worth it. read more

Every time I drive through a new town and find a coffee shop with good reviews I get excited. I get the excited at the new possibilities of coffee friends. I found Inman Perk on a rainy afternoon driving through Gainesville. I was haggard, I was worn out and I needed something to sooth my damp soul. My expectations were held low by the countless disappointing experiences of small town coffee shops that double as truck stop diners, and antique stores. When I walked into Inman Perk I was pleasantly surprised. Inman Perk is tastefully designed in a modern yet rustic sensibilities with a whimsical take on the chalk board menus running through out the entire store. It's styled nicely without feeling like it's a coffee shop hiding behind it's "style." The staff are not just friendly, they're personable. I came back a second time, possibly weeks later, and they still remembered me. Maybe it's because I am so adorable, but one way or another it says something about the customer service. They don't bow and scrape, they're just genuinely nice people. I try not to seem like I boast about my caffeine addiction (I prefer medical need), but I get a 5-shot, 4-raw-sugar, breve-latte. It's not a lot to remember, it's not hard to make, but it says a lot about a coffee shop that doesn't screw that up. My order struck up a conversation with each barista, we got talking about coffee. Not an up-sell, and not some bull shit conversation. About what they loved, about our mutual passion. People who run a coffee shop who love coffee make me happy. Great coffee in Gainesville! I live far away in Clarkesville... No good coffee shops near me. Thankfully, I make good coffee at home. But when I am looking for an espresso based drink... I head down to Inman's. Great pulls on the espresso machine. Nice crema. Fair prices. And like the others mentioned. This place is real artsy. Not fake artsy. It has a great vibe, that isn't mass produced... The baristas are all very nice. DONT FORGET TO TIP THEM. They make great drinks... Expressly for you. It's an art what they do. The people that frequent are all nice and well mannered. Its clean, friendly, warm and inviting. It's comfortable... For real. Love it. I knocked one star off, as I would love to have pour over/chemex coffee. And maybe the availability for a siphon once and awhile. but really thats just me being picky... ;-) read more

And you thought you could only get Inman Perk in, well, Inman Park? Nope! The second location of your favorite intown coffee shop is located wayyyyyyyyyyy OTP...all the way up in Gainesville, Georgia. Yep, a solid 75 minute drive from the original. And you thought Alpharetta was far away! The nice thing is, is that this spot has kept its hipster cool despite its location in the boonies. There's still really diverse seating options (indoors, outdoors, sofas, study tables, etc) and solid coffee. The baked goods all looked super tempting, and you can even get a solid sandwich (made to order) and some seasonal Jake's ice cream flavors. And the building itself is rather charming - historic and right on the square in the downtown section of Gainesville. Parking is free on the streets, and there's also a big municipal deck. So why only three stars? They are slow. as. molasses. I waited in line for over 15 minutes on my most recent visit just to place my order. There were only four parties in front of me, and three people working behind the counter, so I can't tell what the hang up was. But sadly, this was a similar case as my first visit over the summer months. So, all in all, a solid place to grab a cup and catch up in Gainesville. But, don't expect to drop in for quick caffeine fix. read more

Great coffeehouse in old brick building on square in Gainesville. All that a coffeehouse should be! The lattes are great, the wi-fi is fast and dependable, electrical outlets are ample for plugging in your computer, and Gainesville now sports AT&T 3G wireless service to boot! One of my pet peeves in Coffeehouses are when they get too loud with their music. I much prefer a quietish assortment of background type music so if I need to talk on the phone it is not like I'm in Grand Central Station - Inman Perk is pretty good with that. It is similar to the Atlanta location, except in more vintage quarters which is nice. They also have a little patio in back for the warmer months it looks like. read more

What a refreshing change from Starbucks! In regards to the previous comments about slow service, that was not our experience at all. There were 6 in our party with 5 coffee drinks made and 4 food items we were through the line quickly. The coffee was delicious. I had a vanilla latte and very pleased that it was not too sweet like most coffee shops make them. We were passing through Gainesville on our way to North Carolina. We are always searching for good coffee shops. Now we know where to stop next time were passing through this great little town! read more

Inman perk has such good coffee. I often buy their whole bean to take home. They definitely have THE BEST chai latte I've ever had. Any chai I have, I compare to theirs. Their coffee never disappoints. It's a good place to chat or study. They also always have local art hanging for sale, which they rotate out frequently. That being said, my only complaint is that they probably need a little furniture update. It's a bit dingy. One of my friends won't even go in because of that! I can look past though. read more

This is my first visit into Georgia. This place was recommended to me by a waiter at a restaurant we stopped at. It is what I would like to call "the quintessential coffee shop". Its comfortable, sedate, has good coffee. It is exactly the kind of place i like to relax and have coffee in. The coffee was good, but the service was abysmal. There was one muffin that did not have a sign identifying it, and we asked the barista what kind of muffin the one with cream cheese on top was. She said "it just has cream cheese on it?" as if my friend and I were stupid for asking. We ordered coffees and breakfast sandwiches. They called our names when the coffees were ready, so we grabbed them and sat at a table toward the back. We waited about fifteen minutes just chatting and then a different barista said "girls, there are some breakfast sandwiches up here waiting." No one had told us they were there in the first place. My sausage, egg white, and cheese croissant was okay, but the egg white was spongy and watery. I was really looking forward to having breakfast at Inman Perk, but I was disappointed. read more

Just left Inman perk with a small almond milk mocha that cost $5.14, I didn't even have time to tell the barista I wanted half the pumps before she snapped out my total & left the counter to make it. The unpresentable lady who waited on me at the counter waited for me to say anything before she even began to talk. I had a few questions about the sizes/shots in each & she was rude. Another girl came to finish up my transaction as the other older lady left my drink sitting on the counter because she never even called it out or let me know it was done even though I was sitting right there. I love Inman Perk, and am so glad that there is one close to home! Their coffee and espresso is very good, and they have great options of beans to take home with.
