I have found inland hospital and ER nothing but above board-kind and caring for their patients and families......One of the best hospital I have been too and I have been to Augusta Me - Waterville Hospital and Colorado-as well has Boston Lyn M read more

I have never had as poor an ER experience as I did at Inland Hospital. I was in genuine distress and they were dismissive, inattentive and acted as if I was being a nuisance whenever I asked for assistance. While I'm sorry to hear that Inland is closing, no one will miss the substandard care offered at their ER. read more

At or around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 1st, 2024 I came into the ER at the location in Waterville, ME with my 8-year-old daughter. She described to the triage nurse her pain to be greater than a 10 out of 10. We were seen quickly and triaged quickly, then left in the exam room, unattended without a single check-in, for no less than 45 minutes in total. At this point we still had not seen a doctor at all, only a triage nurse. After 20 minutes since the nurse left us alone behind closed doors, I opened the door that went to the nurses station and asked the group of nurses standing around if we could be checked on. We were told that we would seen soon and to be patient by a woman beind the desk. Another 20 minutes later, with still no check in, I opened the door again and asked for help; all the while my daughter was screaming and wailing behind me (she had been hysterical in pain for the entirety of the 45+ minute wait for help). A tall and brawny lady spoke up and told me that I was being too persistent by asking this and that I had to wait it out; I later found out she was the ER night supervisor, named Jen Annette. Remember, this is the second time in 40 minutes (once every 20) that I left the room in pursuit of assistance. This interaction continued back and forth for another couple quick rounds until I asked her if the camera is above me worked, and advised that I would be requesting the footage pulled and a review of this patient treatment be completed. 5 minutes or less after this altercation, which occurred in front of a large group of medical staff at the nurses station, we were finally seen post-triage, and my daughter offer treatment for her ear problem. They gave her a dose of pain meds, and antibiotics, and called a script in to CVS for more antibiotics. Without waiting for discharge paperwork, but after being medicated and officially treated for the issue, I readied my daughter to exit and I left the building for my truck to head home. My daughter fell asleep on the 15 minute ride home and I tucked her into bed for the night immediately as soon as we got home. About 20 minutes later, I received a loud knock on the door. I answered it to find a police officer asking for me. He told me that he received a phone call from Jen at Inland Hospital in Waterville requesting a wellness check for my kid because we refused medication while at the hospital. I assured the officer that his information was false and in fact we did accept medication and a prescription to follow up. Confusedly, the police officer aologized for being a nuisance so late in the evening (10:30) and exited my home. Not only am I concerned for the harassing nature of the behavior from Jen on October 1st, but I am highly concerned that my personal information is accessible by monsters like Jen and that they have the ability to execute erroneous and dangerous revenge type of actions to further their own personal agendas. It's concerning how easily Jen was able to find my phone number and address and use it to place a call to the police, lie to the police about what happened at the hospital, all in an effort to send police out to my house. This type of behavior is not normal, and not stable from a mental standpoint. If Inland hospital is going to continue to offer services to the general public, then we should be able to expect that the hiring practices and employee retainment efforts are in line with general responsibilities for the safety of our small town population. I should not be concerned about my information leaking to someone like Jen who is untrustworthy and vengeful. I did speak with a lady named Shari from the patient experience department of Inland hospital, located in Brewer, earlier today. She took my complaint and advised of the follow-up steps I should expect. As I stated to her, I will be pursuing follow up, accountability, and responsibility for Jen Annette's behavior as described in this complaint, from every possible professional and legal angle. This includes your patient experience department as I am emailing now and I talked to earlier today, as well as any legal and justifiable actions that my lawyer advises, the nursing board, and my civic duty to ensure the public is aware of my experience and can make a more sound judgmental decision on where to seek medical are in addition to any others I maybe made privy to or advise to pursue along the way. In other words, I plan to push this issue every possible way and in every possible direction and as long as I possibly can until I feel justice has been served to Jen Annette, the night staff of the ER at Inland hospital, and Inland hospital as a medical institution. read more

My son went to the emergency room. It's a nice facility; very clean and new. However, when I came to see him I checked in, and the lady at the desk told me a nurse would come to get me. THEY NEVER DID! Either the nurses were never told I was there, or they didn't care. Eventually someone asked if I was waiting to come into the ER. Very inconsiderate on the part of the staff. read more

Do they ever answer their phones? I've tried for three days to have a prescription refilled and to check on a previous appointment, but could not get through no matter what option I chose. This is a hospital not a McDonalds or Burger King !!!!! The only way I could get through was to call the switchboard directly. That is not acceptable because you have to search online to find that number. When you call your local office it kicks you automatically to the answering service, and no one answers....EVER !!!!! All the options kick you to the remote answering service. Even the switch board operator would not give me a direct number, even though the local offices have operators. Entirely unacceptable. What if you are an elderly patient and have the local number up on the fridge, you are not going to get through. They would become confused and not get through. This is a safety issue for elderly people!!!!!!!!!! read more

Do they EVER answer the phone and do they only have one number to call? Had an appt (outsourced via the V.A.) and had to cancel but no one answers the damn phone. I dread going there if this is an example of their efficiency. NOT impressed at all. read more

I recently had a CT scan done. The tech (Rita C.) who put the stick in my arm for the IV contrast really did a number on me. She put it in, and I told her it hurt. She said, "It's not supposed to hurt." However, she kept going. I told her it still hurt, and she kept going again. They did the CT scan and injected the contrast. When I got home, my arm was still sore. I took off my sweatshirt and saw my arm was swollen to several times its normal size! The swelling went from almost my wrist, all the way up to my armpit. My arm felt stiff and was hard to move because of the all swelling. I also had some tingling. We called, and they told me to alternate ice and heat, which I did. They also said it would go away in a few hours. It was painful, and I was unable to sleep much that night. It took more than "a few hours" for the swelling to go down. It was two full days. The tech messed up, and this is confirmed because there is no contrast on my scans. This makes me mad because it was ordered WITH contrast. On the report, it even says the results are limited because of no contrast. That means I got extra radiation after they injected the contrast. Unfortunately, it didn't go into my veins but instead into my actual arm. I didn't have any side effects from the contrast itself (meaning no hot flashes, etc.) and told the male tech doing the scan. It was odd because I have had CT scans done before and had the side effects of the vein contrast. I didn't this time because it never made it into my veins. The tech should not have kept going when I told her it hurt. She seemed inexperienced and incompetent. She should have found a different spot or used my other arm instead of kept going. I would never recommend Inland Hospital for any care. This is only one instance of many I have had of bad customer treatment and incompetence. I have several other instances over the past decade regarding this hospital. Unfortunately, I'm penalized by insurance and have to pay more if I DON'T use Inland. That's disgusting to have to pay more if I want to have decent treatment. I think prisoners get better treatment than patients at Inland. If you have the option, please go elsewhere! FYI: I have saved photos of my swollen arm, which looked insanely different compared to my other arm. read more

on 5/11/2016 my sister came into this emergency room in excruciating pain in her ear she was told there was 6 people ahead of her ... after an hour and a half she called me in N.H. and was crying and shaken all over and no one had seen her yet . after awhile they put her in a triage room and there she sat again ... Finally a doctor came in and this kills me she was snotty and disrespectful to my sister who mind you had been sitting there for hours just trying to deal with this pain and gave my sister the impression she was just there to try to get narcotics even though they saw my sisters ear canal was "RAW" all the way down REALLY you have the right to label someone an addict who came to your hospital for help she desperately needed ... so my question is this ... how much do you charge her health insurance for such treatment ?? Now i know that it isnt in your policy's to refund anyone's money but i do think that it shouldn't be below you to apologize to someone who was suffering and had put her trust in your hospital and was treated with such disrespect . I have begged my sister never to trust you again and have demanded that she get a 2nd opinion on your diagnosis . I hope that none of your family members are never treated this way because it is heartbreaking to know my sister went through this and i will be damned if i let it go !! read more
