I found The Prairiebrooke to be well designed to house art in its open, airy natural setting with an interesting metallic-y silver and bronze floor and recessed lighting. I think the venue actually made some of the art look more appealing to me. The guy working the room asked me if I needed anything, which I did not. I told him I was just in there to look. He told me to grab some complimentary cookies before heading back to work on framing. PG not only sells the work of artists, but they also specialize in custom framing and design display. I peaked into their workshop where they do the framing and it's more like a garage. They do some serious work back there; I think I even saw a flicker from a blowtorch. My thinking is, if a gallery spends that much of its space working to make your purchased painting framed so well, it's a two in one masterpiece. You don't have to buy a painting at location A and then drag it to location B for framing - it's just handy. I'm not sure about the presentation of the art in the back. I found a really cool Picasso-like painting shabbily hung in the coffee break room next to the fridge - huh? It was strange. Why did they need six offices anyways - it just took away the space needed in the main gallery room so that they were forced to hang paintings in poor places - like the break room where few customers wander anyways. If I were the artist, that would be unacceptable marketing on their part - I mean honestly, who would do that? I liked the main gallery though. The brick walls were fitting to the scheme of the design and the leather seating area was a nice touch. I really like how the guy trusted me enough to be alone in his space. Keep in mind, I had spent the last two hours being followed around by skeptical older women who thought I was trying to steal - so it was a relief to be able to relax in here without feeling like someone was breathing down your neck. And it was with the freedom that I broke the cardinal rule of gallery attendance: I took photos - gasp!

Contemporary Art in middle of suburbia Kansas. Hey, it works! In all seriousness, PB Galleries is…read morean alright spot to see some great pieces by national artists. Now here's where it gets dicey. I'm at odds about the feelings I got from the place though. Pretty awkward and certainly had a tinge of "frame shop" as another reviewer so cleverly pointed out. I never felt I was in a gallery really. It was more like a place that housed art for framing. Here I was getting a "sales pitch" on the place having great, national artists without ever talking about any of the artists or maybe even the work itself. The owner of the gallery came over and we chatted. The "forced and faked" convo ensued and I was left with the heebie-jeebies. I enjoyed some of the art in the shop, just not the shop. What to do? Why look those artists up online perhaps for a purchase, of course. God Bless cyberspace, ebay, and the "shopping cart" checkout system.

I've driven by many times but never noticed it before which is a shame, because there is some wonderful art on display. Currently there is a juried show with scores of pieces from every media. I was able to pick up a couple of card size watercolors for framing and a large magnet to brighten my office and refrigerator from my artist friend James Masters and a small card size photo from artist Marla Craven. The wind sculpture was delivered about a month ago when I was out doing errands, so Jose wasn't able to bring it in for me as he normally would. Brian, my lovely next door neighbor, brought it in for me, It sat in its box, along w/ the box containing the poles, in my dining room until the weather cleared and Brian had time to install it. He came over last week, then discovered he didn't have the brackets he needed to attach it to the deck railing. My brother Jim attached my other wind sculpture to the deck railing w/ zip ties several years ago but those failed during high winds a few months ago and Brian reaffixed it to the railing, using brackets which will outlive me. He ordered more and was able to come over yesterday and install the new one. When he finished he observed that it looked like a menorah, which I hadn't noticed, but it does. I can see it from my seat at the dining table and if I stand up I can see it from my office window and I love the way it looks. Brian can see it from his deck. I'm going to be sending photos of it to Paul, who owns the gallery, so he can see how it looks.

When I first walked in, I noticed a variety of cute women's clothing. As I went further back in the store, I thought there was a nice variety of gifts and it was very well organized. They have everything from Kansas City t-shirts, jewelry, children's clothing, trinkets, greeting cards, and more. As I was exploring, the owner (?) of the shop made it a point to chat with me and make me feel welcome. He spoke with me briefly but left me alone after that, which I appreciated because I get irritated if shop workers try to talk to me the entire time or hover. I ended up making it a point to buy something here because of the pleasant experience I had while shopping. From their website, I learned that their mission is to: "create new streams of income for people living in poverty and for Christian ministry and missionary efforts through global trade of products." They did have a lot of handmade items and things from different parts of the world. I highly recommend this shop if looking for a gift, especially if you're not sure what you're looking for!

I am leaving this review based on my personal experience as an artist who has worked with…read moreWeinberger Fine Art. Over the past two years, several of my paintings were sold through the gallery. Kim Weinberger personally informed me that the paintings had been sold, but I have still not received the payments owed to me. However, my understanding is that this is not consistent with the payment terms outlined in our agreement. I am still waiting for payment or a clear explanation of when the outstanding payments will be made. I have tried repeatedly to resolve this directly and privately, but I have not received a response to my last three messages. I am sharing my experience so other artists can make an informed decision when considering working with Weinberger Fine Art and Kim Weinberger.
