Ink Ink is an amazing shop with amazing artist! I traveled from California to Springfield to get tattooed by Kelsey Rogers and could not be most ecstatic with the results. The work she did on me took 5 full days and completely covers my entire back. The shop is very clean and comfortable, having an AirBrb as a rental option was a really nice touch as I only had to go upstairs after my daily sessions. Kelsey, Claire and Kyle are all amazing artist and people. Ink Ink is a great shop and I will be planning another visit in the near future! read more

We walked in this place to see about a tattoo; the girl's were nice, and we asked about portraits in black and gray. The shop manager said it was her specialty. She pulled up some pic's on her comp, and I've gotta say I wasn't impressed at all. Shaky blown out lines, horrible color, and nothing really "signature" about any piece... Not for me; I implore anyone to look at other places before settling for Ink Ink. Since I posted this they never tried to reach out, or contact me about my experience. My wife and mine appointment set a week ago. For 1/22/22 @ noon. We have been sitting here for almost 2 hours. There have been people that have come in after us which were walk ins. Completely unprepared because we filled out all forms before coming and sent our designs in beforehand. When we booked our appointments. Our artist has done 3 piercings before even starting on ours. Claire was my artist and she was AMAZING. I had been wanting a tattoo for years to cover some stretch marks and scarring, something I have always been insecure about. Claire not only created a beautiful design from my inspired photo, but she also made sure the placement and coverage was everything I wanted and went beyond my expectations as a tattoo artist. You can tell she is very serious about her job, very professional and yet still warm, and very detail-oriented. She asked if I wanted it done all in one sitting and I said I did, and she worked well with me throughout my day there and I got to leave with a finished piece, which was also very important to me. I felt comfortable the whole time I was in there. I have gotten several tattoos in various establishments over the years and this by far as a young woman was the #1 place I felt comfortable walking into and being tattooed in. And for such a meaningful tattoo, this meant everything to me. The environment is aesthetically pleasing and everyone was kind. I will definitely be going back for future work and recommend to others as well. read more

Most definitely do not recommend Kristen. Scheduled an appointment over a month in advance and multiple emails back & forth regarding a tattoo. The day arrives for appointment and she takes the day off. She transferred our appointment to another artist and did not provide details. The artist she transferred appointment to was awesome and honest that she did not feel comfortable in completing this type of work with the time allotted. Kristen's next available appointment if we wanted to reschedule is not until September. We did not reschedule with her due to same situation may occur, she is unprofessional, unreliable, and showed no respect to us as clients. So, long story short, we waited over a month to be refunded our deposit and sent home without any work done. No one at the shop bothered to call us to let us know that our appointment had been transferred and if we were comfortable with another artist doing the work. I just moved to Springfield and this experience was just awful and I hope is not what is typical of local businesses here. read more

I got a tattoo there and when I walked in they weren't very friendly but I stayed. When I got to my seat I asked them about their sterilization techniques (which she was annoyed by) and then went over what I wanted (which was a small simple tattoo of the word Luna) she then rushes through it and then just said ok your done and goes to walk away. She didn't cover it, didn't put anything on it, didn't give me anything about how to care for the tattoo (now this wasn't my first tattoo, but she couldn't see those and she still should have covered it and put stuff on it). When I asked her to cover it and put something on it she just rolled her eyes and said you don't need something on it... um yes I do!!! So she just hands me a piece of gauze?!?! Wtf??? Look, I get the whole feminism idea around the shop, honestly. But I'm pretty sure that a "modern" shop on "C" street isn't what people should be signing up for when you go in for a tattoo. Doesn't it seem more logical to go to a place that doesn't promote the business itself and actually what they stand for? I have no clue how this place has lasted. I went in a few months ago wanting a small-ish piece on my wrist. I was quoted 80 and didn't think much of it because I had heard such good things about this place. My tattoo turned out just absolutely awful. The line work was jagged, the shading was splotchy and it just all around looked like something that came out of prison cell. Seriously. And this wasn't my first rodeo, which is where most of the reviews I read afterwards came from. Do yourself a favor and go to a place that actually takes pride in their artwork and not their image they so desperately try to uphold. I guess sex does sell after all. read more

I went to Ink Ink on my birthday, to fulfill a bucket list item.. I'd wanted my nose pierced for a decade. I didn't do it because of my field made it not such a great idea.. Maddy answered all of my questions by phone and was able to see me that afternoon. The piercing was nearly painless, looked great and has healed perfectly. I am very happy with it.. she even volunteered to show me how to change the stud to another ring, when my healing was complete. Nice place! It's a privately owned tattoo parlor with a great all-female staff, a professional beautiful salon, and TVs that run photo shoots of their previous work, which looks amazing. I went in during a Semicolon Project awareness tattoo special. They were doing select tattoos for $15, $20, or $30 depending on the design you choose. The line was out the door, literally, but the staff would occasionally come out to check and make certain we were filling out the necessary paperwork, see if anyone had questions, and assured us they were moving as fast as they could. In between customers, each artist switched out for new needles and ink and cleaned with seats. It took about 2 hours to get into the chair, but the process was good and they moved along quickly for the event. I was there with my sister, so we were talking amongst ourselves and with others, so time moved quickly and the crowd was awesome. Once in the chair, the tattoo artist was nice, friendly, cleaned the tattoo area, worked quickly along the stencil, and had us in and out in good time, without bandaging the tat or care instructions. It was my first tattoo, and she gave me no other info than "because of the placement, you'll want to call to make a touch up appointment." But that might have been because my sister had mentioned this would be her second tattoo, so perhaps she assumed my sister would tell me all I needed to know. I wish I had been told the care procedure ahead of time because I decided to put the tat along my instep, which not only hurt like a bitch, but it wasn't until after I was out of the salon that I found out I shouldn't soak my foot, wear shoes that will rub up against it, and other things, for a few weeks while it heals. This just sucks because I'm training for a Half Marathon that is in about 6 weeks, and I'm on vacation which includes pools, lakes, and a pedi that I was really looking forward to. Not anymore. So I wish that the artist might have taken some initiative and before beginning, upon hearing one of the first things my sister and I did was a 10K that morning, maybe she could have asked "Oh, you know, you really shouldn't wear socks or run for X days while this heals, is that OK with you?" If I knew that, I might have either not done it, or changed the placement. On the other hand, because of this special and out-the-door-lines since before Ink Ink opened, I could sympathize that perhaps she was a little frazzled and no artist would remember to give the typical info schpeel she would on a usual day. So I get it, I understand, but I'm annoyed. Anyways, I might be able to update this once I do the touch up in a few months and see how the touch up goes on a typical, non crazy day! I highly recommend not going to this shop. Look at the experience of each artist. It's between 3 to 5 years. That's not a tattoo artist, that's an intern. Most tattoo artist there can only do one style i.e. black and gray, color, fine line. A true tattoo artist can do almost every style requested. The color is oversaturated with no definition. Take a close look at the artist portfolio and then look at another shop and see how much better their definition and coloring is on tattoos. I've been getting tattooed for 35 years and when you call your shop and ask for a certain tattoo and they say "we can't do that tattoo", run! There are much better tattoo studios in the area. If you go to the studio, and get a tattoo, don't complain. You get what you pay for and there's just not enough experience at the shop. read more

Disclaimer: I didn't actually get a tattoo here. This review is about the atmosphere and treatment I received from the staff. I came in about a year and a half ago to get a consultation for a possible tattoo. It was my first tattoo so I had no idea what to expect and I needed lots of information. I came in and there were people getting tattooed just right in the "lobby." That was a little unnerving, but I go to the desk and I ask some basic questions. What does it cost, how long will it take, can I have a private room (I couldn't get one by the way, she said that once I started getting tattooed I would be comfortable out in the open), etc. The person at the desk was fairly condescending, as if I should already know these things even though it was my first time and I'm a cautious person. She told me more than twice that she will answer questions/go over the procedure only if I make an appointment to actually get the tattoo. Of course, I was still very unsure so I said can we just talk about it now or just make a consultation appointment? She said no, and that if I make an appointment to get a tattoo, the consultation will happen right beforehand. She acted like that made everything fine and dandy. I was very uncomfortable and walked out after making some polite excuse as to why I couldn't make an appointment. Obviously I don't have a review of their work as I didn't get a tattoo, but I hated how they treated me and how sketchy it seemed. read more

My sister and I decided on a memorial tattoo to honor our late sister. We kind of knew what we wanted, but our artist Sam knew exactly what we wanted. I visited this place for my first tattoo. I did enjoy the atmosphere and polite workers. However, I gave a 3 star review due to their lack of knowledge in regards to the care of a tattoo. This being my first tattoo it (And the tattoo artist Nikki knowing this) I expected a lot of information on how to care for my tattoo. As well as accurate information. I was told to leave the clear film on for 4 to 5 days and then use lotion on the tattoo. It sounded odd to leave the film on for so long, but I figured she would know best. I reconfirmed that I was to leave it on for that length and then take it off when it began to heal. I could only leave it on for about 3 days as it began to get itchy. The removal of the sticky film was more painful than the tattoo itself. After talking with some tattooed friends and researching this I found that it is suggested to only leave it on for a few hours. Not to mention that leaving the bandaging on for so long increases the chances of infection due to the moisture and heat being trapped in the film. She also never mentioned washing it once I remove the wrapping, just to put some lotion on it. I am sad to say that I will not be back to Ink Ink Tattoo. Perhaps giving paperwork on proper tattoo care would be a good change. At least for those that are first timers. read more

I got a tattoo in memory of my grandpa. It turned out TERRIBLE! I had to go in for a touch up so part of it would look less phallic. They completely destroyed a beautiful memory I was trying to remember him by. I'm having to get this trash covered up and redone by a better artist. I definitely do NOT recommend going here if you want (at minimum) good work. They seemed more concerned with laughing and goofing off than providing decent work. Don't waste your money, you'll have to get their shit covered up or removed. There's definitely a reason you can't leave a review on their Facebook pages. read more

When we finally heard from them, just a couple of days prior to her appointment, they flatly refused to give her money back. We gave them over a month notice to rebook another person into her time slot. I do not recommend this company. read more

Do not Ink Ink - Because life is too short for bad tattoos. I wish I had Yelped Prior to our visit. Here are a few descriptors: only interested in money, zero tallent, self absorbed. My daughter and I had planned a mother daughter tattoo together since we both had work we wanted to color. We arrived to a crew filming - we should have left. I wanted to. Kelsey the owner was to work on us, and made us wait a very log time. We thought we wanted watercolor, but once she showed us her vision for us, we were not happy. She said we were stressing her out. So I asked her for her input, since she had a portfolio, I believed she had tallent. She told me she was a business owner and I needed to know what I wanted, since it's perminent. But she kept looking away, not listening, uninterested. I selected colors and she started, I know she would benefit from working with color pencils and coloring books. She applied no concern of color or technique. When she told me she was done, I was shocked and disappointed. My daughter made sure she stayed on Kelsey, to get what she wanted and I'm so glad. Kelsey called her "Picky". I wanted to love them, but I can only issue a WARNING: DO NOT INK INK. Worst tattoo Ever! read more

I went to Ink Ink last year for a small pink floral tattoo on my arm. I liked it and went back to have more added and it came out looking like a huge burn. People were always asking me "What happened to your arm? and "How did you burn yourself?" . I went back to see if they could change the color to help fix it, I was told it would not turn out well I had to stick with pink. I was then told that the only way to fix it would be make it even larger and adding a black and grey background. I ended up with the most horrible half sleeve I have ever seen. I am now having to pay another shop A LOT of money to cover the entire sleeve. I brought it to Ink Inks attention and all they are willing to do is give me another tattoo for free. No WAY! Ink Ink gives bad tattoos and has even worse customer service. Save yourself the heartache and go somewhere else! read more

I really tried to love the tattoo I got from this shop, but it was just terrible. I got a watercolor Chihuahua (supposedly) and since this was my second tattoo I guess I didn't know any better, but I should have known something was wrong with this shop the first moment I stepped in. First of all, I had made an appointment in advance and when I walked in, Kelsey was tattooing Meghan (another tattooer at the store) on the leg, which was very rude to me and my time, but since I try to avoid conflict I decided to not say anything. About 40 mins later she was done, but while I was waiting, another girl came to me to see what my tattoo idea was. I tried to explain and give reference photos, but she basically rushed me through it and took the image I gave her for reference, printed it off and made the stencil. At the time I thought she was Kelsey, but I realized she wasn't when the one who did my tattoo was a different girl than who did my stencil. And when that happened I should have stopped the whole thing, but I wanted to have faith in them since they seemed so nice. When Kelsey started my tattoo, I honestly didn't think it would hurt as much as it did. She was so rough with my skin and rushed so much the tattoo that she was "finished" in 20-30 minutes. NO tattoo unless is very small and simple should be done so fast. By that point, I was crying, but I thought it was just I had chosen a very sensitive spot, and left the store "happily". As the tattoo healed I started seeing the mistakes. First of all, my idea of the tattoo was not a literal copy of the photo I showed her. I wanted something custom, but they did not even hear what I needed and I was such a dumbass for not speaking up. Second of all, the tattoo looked like a fox or a Cat, not a Chihuahua, and that was very infuriating to me, because this tattoo was meant to be special for me. This was an extremely expensive tattoo, especially because I actually had to get it freaking fixed by another store that even recognized the mess as soon as I walked in. Heck, my new artist and I were even joking around about it while getting it fixed. The whole thing (which was supposed to be $150) ended up being almost $340 because of all the fixing my new artist had to do. I would have been fine with the exact copy of a Pinterest image if it wasn't because the colors didn't even match and where so dull and ungraceful. On a bonus note, Kelsey had been so rough on my skin, she actually created a pretty significant "burn-looking" scar that I did not have on my skin before, which was the last straw for me. I had literally wasted my money on this. I should have stopped and I regret going there still. My tattoo looks better now, and I love it, but not because of them. I do not want anyone else that actually wants a custom work (and a well-done tattoo) to ever experience what I did with these girls. My wife had her very first tattoo done by Kelsey, the owner of Ink Ink, back when Kelsey worked for another tattoo place in Springfield. We were thoroughly impressed by her work so in 2013 when we heard Kelsey opened Ink Ink, we went there and Kelsey did my wife's 2nd tattoo which was easily as impressive. My wife has had 2 additional tattoos (for a total of 4) done there, but by different artists, including a semicolon tattoo that she had done when Ink Ink was doing a promotion to support Project Semicolon. My wife is very happy with all of her tattoos that she has had done there. It's been a couple of years since my wife had her last tattoo and unfortunately it sounds like business has gone down hill, from a customer service perspective, over at Ink Ink. Just from outside observation it almost seems like Kelsey has lost touch with her customers and that she has changed from the down to earth person that did my wife's first tattoo before she opened Ink Ink to an out-of-touch business person that is solely concerned with the bottom line. I got my first "meaningful" tattoo with Claire this past Saturday. It's a watercolor tattoo to honor my 72yr old mother who lives in New Mexico. I'm a truck driver and actually called on Thursday not expecting to get an appointment before I leave this Wednesday to visit my mother due to the short notice. The receptionist have me the appt, I emailed pics of what I wanted and was ABSOLUTELY brought to tears when the tattoo was completed!!! I've never been as happy with a tattoo, tattoo artist, studio, or group of employees as I am with the ladies of Ink Ink!! Claire's interpretation of my ideas for my tattoo was spot on and the hug she gave me as I stood crying tears of happiness when I looked at the completed tattoo is unforgettable! I will be back in 2wks for Claire to fix a different tattoo I already have & make this one as meaningful as the one she gave me! This place & it's people are top notch!!! read more

I took my daughter in here today to get a small tattoo. We were quoted one price over the phone and then charged $20 over the phone quote after the tattoo was completed. I even tipped the artist as she did do a fabulous job on a single color, very simple, very small piece with no shading. The artist was awesome and the staff was very knowledgable and helpful. However the price issue left a bitter taste in my mouth and we both agreed we will not be returning. Please note: the artists were great. They were busy and there were several people waiting. It just seems like $60 for a finger tattoo that literally took less than 5 min from setup to completion is a bit extreme. If we'd been quoted that over the phone we would not have come and I feel like we were duped. Bait and switch scheme!
