Now there's this 2-story BN bookstore on Halsey with free WiFi, a whole floor of Rutgers paraphernalia, and stacks where you can get your own books. There are customer service kiosks on both floors, too. It's so much more efficient and nicer in design. This is the largest selection (aside from corporate-owned Bauman's) of rare books I've seen that include the dust jacket- a collectors actual dream. It's the biggest breath of fresh air to find a rare book store owned by a woman, and to be treated like a human being. I normally get side-eyed from rare bookstore owners and some of the conversations I've had sound like: "May I see the Portrait of a Lady in the case?" "All of these books are at least $100.00 and up." ".....I know." "Do you have any Wilde?" "The book about the woman hiking alone? That's too new to be in our shop, Barnes & Noble would have it." "I'm talking about the 1800s poet." "Oh." I take it personally because while I look like a millennial who doesn't know what she's talking about, I treasure my rare books like they're my children. Sunday stayed AN EXTRA HOUR at her store while I looked and answered all of my questions that I had, never making me feel rushed or unwelcome. After selecting a first edition Fitzgerald, she wrapped it in bubble wrap for my travels back home and gave me an updated book with all of the rare book sellers in the country.

Literally said "this is too much, we don't buy or trade, goodbye" just because she didn't have the information about the "worker" that handles the buys and trades so she rather just be rude and rush me off the phone! Customer service is key to company's like this that rely on the customers support to keep their business and the comic book industry going, there's no place for disrespectful staff that don't want to even TRY to come to a solution or help out a fellow comic customer. Usually clothes are $1 each if you're just shopping, and there are gifts, books, and plants for sale for more. The selection was a little slim for a tall and plus size woman, however, like all thrift shops, lots of options for petite and small women, and for medium size men. Even so, and with a limited picked-over selection during my visit, I did find 3 items for the 3 bottles I donated and helped keep the cycle and art going.
