I went to use a Santander ATM on Gran Via in Madrid. I was informed by the machine that not only would there be a 7 Euro fee to use the ATM (a Santander customer using a Santander ATM!) but there would also be an 8.5% surcharge on top of that! Needless to say, I left and went to the ATM of a competitor - where the only charge I had was 4 Euro to use the ATM. The first thing I plan to do upon returning to the States is withdrawing all my funds from Santander US and closing my accounts. I don't want to do business with any enterprise that values its clientele so little! It is truly mind boggling that Santander thinks that they can treat their customers so poorly and have the customers stay loyal to them. Sorry, Santander. We can do much better! So can you, as a matter of fact.
