I asked if they could warm up my croissant and this is how the croissant came out. I didn't have time to check it when they gave it to me but when I opened the bag, half of the bottom is burnt. Love Influx! Everyone who works here is so sweet, great way to start the day. The iced matcha and iced vanilla latte w/ oat milk and an add shot are my go-tos! I was looking forward to an afternoon caffeine kick and surprised to find Vietnamese coffee on the menu. Like most Vietnamese coffees, I expected darker roast coffee shaken over ice and balanced with rich condensed milk. Unfortunately, the coffee taste was on par but missing the condensed milk made it not hitting the mark. There were two workers when i walked in with a friend, both ignored us didn't greet or say "i'll be with you in a second" we waited at the counter for a couple of minutes while one saw us but continued to wipe down the sink area and the other was obviously busy. the bagel sandwich itself was decent id give that 4 stars. I do think the bagel could've used more everything toppings but maybe that's just me. We asked a local who suggested this place for really good bagels so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the breakfast sandwich with red onions and a side of Dijon mustard per the suggestion of the guy who rang us up. We also ordered the traditional, which was a bagel with cream cheese and lox. It also came with red onions, capers and fresh dill on top. It definitely did not disappoint. We came in here to grab a quick drink before we hit the road. I got a hot chai with almond milk and my date got a hot coffee, not exactly sure which one. He also got a bagel scramble to go. I do like how they have two gluten free options on the menu under bowls, but I wasn't too hungry to try one. The guy helping us at the register was friendly and answered any questions we had. Service was fast, we didn't have to wait long but we also got in before the crowd came. The bagel scramble came out with fluffy eggs, looked really good, just unfortunately couldn't taste it as it wasn't gf. But my date said it was really good. However the chai tea fell short of my expectations, it wasn't the right creaminess that I like and it tasted like they put a little too much cinnamon in it. He liked it a lot, his only complaint was the overload of tomato compared to other ingredients. The location is good, a short walk from the plaza. Pricing was moderate. I wouldn't call it cheap, but we definitely paid more for breakfast elsewhere. Staff members were very personable and friendly! Wait time is my only complaint. There were only two people in line in front of us (they were together, so it was one order), but we noticed several others waiting around outside for their orders. Maybe it was timing: we stopped in for coffee after 8 pm on a Thursday night. Maybe it was the help that day: she didn't make eye contact (I should clarify that she never made eye contact with us; she positively GLOWED when a construction guy walked in the side door to talk to her. Did I mention that that happened while we were in the middle of giving our order?)... So yeah, it was the help. Our poor interaction with her has sullied my opinion of this place. I've always said, you don't have to try to be my best friend, but there should at least be an effort to be friendly. And we didn't even get that from the girl with the chip on her shoulder. Did I also mention that this was our last stop on my birthday night? I really wanted coffee from another joint, but they were closed at that time. The drinks we got were mediocre, certainly not enough to live up to the hype I'd been hearing for a while (a co-worker constantly lauds the coffee here, says it's the best in San Diego.)
