Something that impressed me so much was that there was a group of folks that came in late from the airport that missed the dinner service. Therefore, they made a big platter of sandwiches for them to eat when they arrived. What service!!! Highly recommend!!

I've had involuntary layovers before but this was definitely one of those experiences that lightens the mood. Erik, his lovely family, and amazing staff run a surprisingly modern hotel in a small village just 30 minutes north of Munich. The restaurant was good and the staff and service were even better. Just be warned that there isn't really any walkable convenience stores nearby but they do have vending machines across the road for drinks beverages and more. However, they require German IDs so you will need to have to ask the friendly staff to get some for you.

We were actually given a room across the street in the Chalet, but you need to check in and out in the hotel itself. Lots of parking right in front of the hotel, and you could go down into their underground parking lot as well for no charge. Our room was three sections - one section with a bed/desk/tv and then another section with 3 beds, with the bathroom entrance located between the two sections. They leave little packs of gummy bears on the pillows which was a fun surprise! The ceiling height is low, which didn't bother us as we aren't exceptionally tall, but it does make it a little claustrophobic. One set of windows opened up to the park behind the Chalet which was a nice view, the other was right on the road in front of the rooms. The bathroom window faced the road so you couldn't throw open the window to cool the room off after a shower, etc. With no air conditioning it can get stuffy if you aren't willing to leave the road side windows open all night. The fixtures in the bathroom were definitely dated and a little worn, we dealt with it but it might give me second thoughts were I to stay again. The breakfast was delicious! Wonderful selection of breads, fruits, meats and cheeses, and BACON! First time we have seen that on our trip and really made our morning. You could eat in the dining room or outside on their patio which made for a joyous way to start a beautiful summer day. The hotel has a dining room, but they were also very close to other restaurants in the area which was nice. Dachau is about a 15 minute drive away. Can't beat the location or the breakfast, so I would recommend a stay here!

Friendly staff, clean rooms and great breakfast make the Alarun worthy of a stay outside the city…read morecenter. The rooms almost look new. Parking is on site. Restaurant less than 50meters away offers decent food ( pasta, pizza, other typical German family foods ) at very reasonable prices.
