It took over two months for my benefit payments to arrive after my mother's passing. My mother had accounts with this company for many years and during a significant stock market drop, she was very worried about losing all her money. At the time, she was about 89 years old and knew nothing about her investments. She asked for my help, and a meeting was set up with Tim and Alex at their office. It was clear to me that they had her invested in high-growth municipal funds with a small amount of dividend income, which is the opposite of what a person at her age needs. Additionally, these municipal funds were proprietary to LPL, as they couldn't be transferred to another financial firm, such as Vanguard, due to the lack of a sales agreement between the companies. In the meeting where they had to justify their investment decisions, they made comments about the market's ups and downs, their advisory agreement, and assured her that all her money wouldn't be lost. I asked for an LPL login to investigate the assets more fully, but Alex told me their system had a problem and a login couldn't be created, which turned out to be completely false. After the meeting, I called LPL directly and they told me there was no issue with the system and a login could be created. The fact that my sister was the executor of the estate could have been an acceptable reason for not allowing me a login, but a lie is not acceptable. In a discussion with my mother, I told her she had the option of selling everything, as the funds couldn't be transferred, and reinvest everything in a mix of CDs and with a firm like Vanguard with lower fees, safer assets, and higher dividends. She was also told that I couldn't determine the IRS tax implications of selling all the assets without more information. In the end, she decided not to change anything, which left me in a bad light with Legamaro. After my 94-year-old mother passed away, my sister informed me that I was not allowed in the Legamaro office and needed to contact the main LPL office to get my 50% beneficiary payments. It took hours on the phone over a two-month period to have five different forms processed and receive payment. In my opinion, LPL beneficiary services is staffed with completely incompetent employees that waste people's time while using my money for free. In addition, I consider Tim and Alex utterly unprofessional for lying and not assisting in processing the paperwork after collecting large fees from my mother for many years. Yes, in my opinion, Legamaro Financial Services in Corpus Christi, TX is the worst advisory group on the planet.
