It's such an up-beat and friendly atmosphere and always buzzing with interesting, good looking professionals. You're welcomed with the most friendly staff when you enter, and if you're aware of Hull, it's a rare thing! And within seconds someone is there to take your coat, and offer you a drink. She cries CONSTANTLY for "not having enough clients" and that "she's one of the best nail techs with so many awards that she should be piling up with new clients". Truth is: she hardly ever replies to messages, is unprofessional on social media, when you're in the salon she's unprofessional there too. Talking about other clients, getting involved in other people's business and not minding her own business. If you want to get your nails done at a place where you'll be made to feel inadequate to have your own opinion and that no one has had it worse than her then maybe it's a place for you. She plays the sympathy card all the time and it gets to the point when you think "is it then or is it you that's something wrong with?". No doubt this review will get screenshotted and posted on her Facebook for sympathy (without actually calling it that) and the "aw love don't worry about the haters". Word of advice Sam, you'll get a lot more clients and less of them leaving once you change your attitude to your own business. You expect people to come to you without you trying to keep them. It always appears busy with a range of customers, from men and women as wella s a range of ages. They are good value for money also. I like the friendly chatty atmosphere of the shop. I had a great hair cut by the male owner of the place several years ago - who is obviuosly well trained and has a good deal of experiecne. Unfortunaely I don't think I will be visiting again as the last two times I have been in have had less than adequate hairdresser - very young and obviously very inexperienced and was more intersted in looking at herself in the mirror than giving me a good hair cut and styling .

To start with i sat in the waiting room listening to how the stylist hated doing bob cuts (her previous customer) i should have taken this as a warning and left then but i was assigned to another stylist and decided not to worry. As i sat in the chair i was informed that as my hair was thick it would cost extra so the total would be 30 pounds not 20 as advertised. I accepted because i needed it done and i know my hair can take more time than others. After a quick wash she cut my hair in a matter of minutes. I have never had a haircut so fast. She just went over my hair with the thinning scissors. Even though some people like a fast haircut i prefer them to take their time. But i was glad to get up because the stylist went on massive rant about how she hated students after i mentioned i was in uni. And this is where the fun started when me and my boyfriend left he told me of his experience. When he sat he asked for his hair to be cut with scissors not the clippers as this is the look he prefers and his hair does not suit clippers because of the way it grows. She complained that it was easier for her if she used clippers... How professional. But he insisted on scissors because that's what he wants. So she got on with the cut face like thunder and said it would cost extra. When we got home i looked at his hair... Which did not look great. The girl had butchered it. It was uneven and messy, but too late to complain. Luckily hair grows and two weeks later got this rectified somewhere else.... With scissors... And the barber was shocked by what a professional had done to his hair. Not worth any money. Bad haircuts and staff that complain about customers in front of customers. If they are not comfortable cutting hair in a particular way they should speak up and not attempt it themselves. Avoid

Went for a third time last week and had a different lady because Amanda has now left. The therapist was running 10 minutes late which was not a problem. However, when the client before me left the treatment room, I saw the therapist go in and prepare the room for me. She left the door open and I could see that she didn't change the towels; merely rearranged them. When I climbed onto the bed, the towel used to cover me was damp and smelled strongly of oil from the previous customer's massage! Why I didn't complain at the time, I don't know! Needless to say, I won't be going back.

Been using the Mark Hill salon for quite some years now…read more Cannot praise the salon enough. Elizabeth (Lizzie) is a great stylist who actually listens to what you want doing to your hair! A very rare thing in Hairdressers I've found. I travel all the way from Grimsby and over the bridge to get there and it is worth every penny. I used to go to Toni and Guy in Grimsby but after a few disasters there, I went to Mark Hill's on recommendation. I received a very warm reception, all the staff are really polite, welcoming. I now even bring all my children to get their hair styled there. The cost is far cheaper than Toni and guy and Bobs in Grimsby. Mark Hill himself always says Hello to every customer, no matter how busy they are.
