They serve some drinks, a sandwich or two and waffles and a cake of the day. So not much on offer, but the service is so sweet and it's just off the touristy main paths, so it's a wonderful place to sit down in the sun and catch a breath watching the world go by. I had an almond cake flavoured with a bit of orange that was out of this world. Never had a moist almond cake before and with little chunks of almonds in it, not just a fine powder. Also fortunately, I translated the Yelp reviews from German to English as I was sitting there sipping on my coffee and learned that their almonds were famous. I picked up a packet each of lemon, chilli, vanilla & original almonds (they are all caramelised and flavoured and the chilli is really hot but outstanding) And a lovely coffee too. The Christmas Market time in Germany is super busy and especially on Friday - Sunday. Schumacher alt is the oldest brewery in Düsseldorf. Established in 1838. Thankfully they have modern and clean restrooms to evacuate all the beer drank there. The ambiance of the place is a lively beer hall. There are picnic tables and banquettes of various sizes. The wait staff are intentionally a little rude. Part of their stick. The beers keep coming until you say stop. You get the house brew in 10 oz. glasses. The waiter makes a mark on a coaster each time he brings a round. When you have had enough be sure to put a coaster on top of your glass, or the beer will keep coming. The food menu is large and only in German. It is a good time to use the photo translation feature on your phone. The food was very good and a LOT! I highly recommend a stop here for an authentic German experience.

Rum, single malt, cognac (1), and Armagnac (1) among others. The single malts are all at 40% ABV except a Tomatin 8yr cask strength 60%. The staff are very helpful. Being from the US, sampling before you buy makes this a fun and unique experience.
