It ended up Tachibana Painting came in at the best price, and when thinking back, we did use them in 2010 ish, when we repainted the house exterior for the first time. Also when we repainted our downstairs interior when we remodeled. James came within 2 days from when I sent a message on their website to do a quote. Had to have some window trims removed due to the carpenter bees burrowing into them, have some decorative roof beams replaced (dry rot), and a few areas patched. No problem - they have people that can do it all, in addition to the painting. Then within a day and a half of the visit, I got a written quote via email, along with the warranty if we choose to do the work with them. Had the weather cooperated, it probably would've taken about a week; from the initial power washing, to re-grouting the seams, the carpentry work, then priming and painting 2 coats. But Mililani being Mililani, it rained and the work dragged on a bit, but something the workers can't control. So overall, a good job and would definitely use them again!

I first contacted the company for an estimate. The owner, Bryson, responded quickly and within a few days, he came in person to give a free estimate. He was thoughtful to suggest ways to keep the cost down. His experience was apparent when he detected seemingly imperceptible differences in the undertones of white paint in different rooms. When I had follow up questions or any question, he was a responsive, timely, and good communicator. I had him repaint 2 bedrooms because the walls had been heavily marked with black streaks. I also had him paint a wall behind a toilet, a strip of wall in a stairwell, and a bright blue powder room which I had him change to white. I also needed him to patch holes caused by a metal rack screwed into a bathroom wall and a chain lock screwed inside a bedroom. He did the job quickly and thoroughly. Everything Bryson painted was beautifully done and looked brand new. You would never have guessed the bright blue powder room he painted white could ever have been anything but white. I will be using this company for all my future painting needs.

About a month after the job was done, the complete patio and deck railing area started bubbling like mad. I contacted Brian who claimed it was tree sap causing it but other painters who took a look said it was caused by painting before the wood was dry (from the prep). Not to mention the house has been painted numerous times over the last 20 years with zero issues of "tree sap" AND the bubbling is occurring on multiple different types of wood. What's worse is Brian came by and sanded areas down to the bare wood which now sits unprotected. He agreed to fix the problem and we went back and forth with numerous promises of, "My guys coming this week, etc." over the last EIGHTEEN MONTHS! He has now just stopped communicating period and upon checking DCCA and eCourt Kokua, I now see his business is in bad standing and he has multiple pending civil lawsuits (another one coming his way shortly) which no doubt are related to the complaints on this site. I actually liked Brian, thought he was a good guy, and tried to be patient and give him the benefit of the doubt but clearly see now that he had no intention of fixing this issue. Unfortunately, I'll now have to resolve this through the judicial system. Caveat emptor folks. *Update 12/15/2025 - Working with Brian to get this resolved. Hopefully the job can be completed the right way!

He has great workmanship and was even punctual with his appointment time. If anything, we were the ones that had to keep rescheduling with him but he was patient and friendly with us the entire way through. He charges honestly by the hour and is super easy to work with. Roger was a great asset, he had recommended a nice off white color and discussed their process, to include all holes filled, walls prepped and primer, the works. We agreed and they came on Saturday on time, as scheduled (a few minutes early) and immediately got started. We came by later in the afternoon and they (Roger and Eddie) were well underway, excellent. We were called about 3pm on Sunday all completed! Perfect color, perfect job top to bottom, they moved the washer and dryer out and put everything back the way it was, actually they even checked out the hoses and such. The bottom line after all said and done? The polite, prompt, and accurate customer service, the professionalism, and the quality of work, the fact they took extra steps not even within the scope, you could only dream of ALL other contractors would give the same.
