Pleasant place in Central Square. Nice staff, nice decor. Solid but not outstanding food. Satisfying if you're in a hurry.

I've been going to the lunch buffets at India Pavillion for years, but rarely did takeout because I had been anxious about the parking situation. Well, with our usual takeout place going vegetarian, we decided to call in our order at India Pavillion and pick up. There's a convenient little driveway /alley next to the old kebab place to wait at, while one of us ran into the restaurant to grab the order. The chicken tikka masala tastes even better as takeout than at the buffet. Baighan bharta (eggplant curry) was also on point. Chicken dishes here are halal, as a bonus. Hefty portions too.

Buffet. Chicken curry and Baingan Bhartha.

I was a bit confused by the low reviews, food lacking flavor, etc. I went during lunch buffet. Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Curry were great, the chicken wasn't overcooked like a lot of places do, was so tender. They are using chicken thighs too instead of chicken breast, so that helps with tenderness. Spices were on point. Baingan Bhartha was a highlight, great balance of flavor in that too. Was it spicy? No, didn't really expect it to be since buffet, but looks like if you order off the menu you can ask for spice level you want.

I've been meaning to eat at this place as every time I passed, it'd be full of people looking like they were enjoying their meal. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would come back again! We came here on a Friday evening around 6 for dinner and we were the only ones in the restaurant which led to a very quiet but relatively quick dining experience. We placed our orders and got our food pretty fast which was nice. They were also good about refilling our waters and checking on us when we needed attention. The food was very good in my opinion. A little expensive per dish, but it was nice that everything pretty much came with rice. The bread basket was probably my favorite part due to the variety and size of naan. Each dish was tasty and flavorful in their own way as well. Overall, I found the meal filling and I left feeling satisfied. Thanks India Pavilion!

Fantastic. Curries are spicy and tasty. Favorite place. The peshawari naan is particularly good.

Best curry, tikka masala and vindaloo in Cambridge. Pakoras and Samosas are excellent too.

This place has a great buffet every day. It's the best lunch value for Indian food that I have seen these days in the Boston area!

That being said, the place was packed after 7 so consider what time you're coming when trying to walk in without a reservation. The entrance is up the stairs and as soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted with a great view of Winthrop Park and the surrounding area. We were promptly seated and the lively wait staff came and took our drink order shortly thereafter. We started with the complimentary papadum and chutneys and our appetizer order of hara bhara kebab which was a nice vegetarian fritter. For our entrees, we got the baingan bhartan, chicken tikka masala (dairy free one), yellow daal tadka, tandoori roti, onion kulcha, and paneera bharura. The breads were all fantastic and I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala (dairy free made with coconut milk) just to see how it was different from a standard chicken tikka masala. For dessert, we got the gajar halwa (which was awesome!) and kulfi. Overall, I'm glad to have finally tried this place and may revisit it again in the future. Worth considering if you're in the area.

Our server was incredibly attentive and would always make sure to follow up and that everything is good. There was a plate that we had that had a stain on it. Our server noticed immediately and swapped out the plate without us having to tell him. He refilled our waters as soon as he saw that our glasses were empty. Compared to the first time that I was here, I think the service remains excellent and unchanged. The quality of the food was amazing. Overall, the dishes were delicious. I enjoy the blend of spices and flavors that you could taste within the food. In terms of food quality, this is easily becoming my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston. I appreciate the restaurant location and internal setup. The restaurant is nestled near Harvard Square on the second floor with a nice view to the local neighborhood around Cambridge. There were many tables by the window so customers could enjoy the ambience. Overall, would recommend. If I find myself returning to Boston, I will definitely make time to stop by again.
