Each March J.S. Dorton Arena is transformed from a livestock arena and talent venue for those whose 15 minutes was 15 years ago to an Indian celebration and festival. Admission is really inexpensive. Inside, thousands of the Triangle's Indian community converge bringing with them the rich culture and tradition from each of their native states back in India. The walls are lined with the Triangle's best Indian food restaurants selling samosas, dosa, sambars, chutneys, gobi manchurian, palak paneer, you name it. All cuisines within India are represented and affordable. This three day event offers the opportunity to try all sorts of Indian cuisines under one roof. You're likely to find a fave new Indian restaurant from trying a snack or two at the fest.

The sizing is European, so read up on sizing before going if you're unfamiliar. The sarees are terribly expensive as compared with prices in India, with most being sold between $100 and $400.
