Fantastic small grocery store and restaurant. They had a lot of ingredients that I use in Indian recipes as well as fresh produce and a lot of sweets to try out in their restaurant and chai counter. The masala chai didn't disappoint. Just as a heads up, the grocery store doesn't have a checkout. You have to go through a hallway to the restaurant area to purchase your groceries. This place is a maze. The checkout is on the other side from the entrance. It can be frustrating trying to find the checkout while carrying heavy rice bags and all. There were printed signs pointing to the checkout, but they were not big enough. Chai Samosa store which is next door is actually together with the grocery store. Both their checkout areas are next to each other. Coming to the place, it is well kept. Vegetables were fresh and plenty. They had a good stock of everything i was looking for. We were in the area and needed a specific Indian spice for a certain kind of grain salad we wanted to make. They had the fenugreek spice and so many other things to look over. We also got some sauce for making buttered chicken and ginger garlic sauce. They have a nice collection of various cookies and we picked some chocolate wafers. Favorite grocery store in the Nashville area for ethnic food + produce. One thing that always strikes me about this place is that it's super clean, and the produce is constantly being restocked, so I always get really cheap, really fresh/high-quality produce (pretty much any vegetable I buy from here lasts way longer and is way better than anything I find at a Kroger or Whole Foods.) Keep in mind this is an Indian grocery store, though, so the selection of produce is small, particularly compared to bigger international groceries in the Nolensville area. That said, I always get what I most need (favorites are their the Chinese okra, small Indian eggplant varietal, the ivy gourd, okra, their herbs like methi / mint / cilantro, and basics like tomatoes/garlic/onions/shallots/lemons/limes which -again - are so much better quality and so much cheaper than what I find in a traditional grocery store.) There is a huge selection of rice and oils/sauces/ready-made spice packets that are found primarily in Indian cooking, but could also be used more broadly in Asian cooking. If I'm not sure whether they have a niche I'm I'm looking for, they are always available to me via phone, which can always save me a trip. My favorite part about this store is their snack collection, which ranges from sweet cookies/biscuits to spicy/savory Indian snack mixes. They also offer a variety of in-house made foods (mostly snacks & sweets but also chapati & fresh chai), but this is my go-to place in the area when I need a fresh samosa. I believe they are building out that area of the store to be a cafe where you can sit and eat, which I'm excited about trying when it's ready. All in all, this store is a no-brainer for folks looking for Indian/Asian groceries in the Brentwood / Franklin area - so much more convenient, fresh, clean, and cheap! read more

Just moved to town and one thing I didn't realize I missed until I walked into this store, was ethnic flair! I am not as familiar with Indian grocery stores as I am with Persian stores, but I was still excited to see what they have to offer. Half the things they sell I'm unfamiliar with (most of the dried goods), but the other half I can totally utilize. To start, their produce selection showcases alot of items that you don't see in regular grocery stores (eggplant and squash varieties for example). Their prices are more than reasonable. I saw that 3 bunches of cilantro were $1! I would say their rice and legumes take up a majority of the store's selection. They also have rows of sauces, spices, nuts, dried fruits, a sweets aisle, and a frozen section which has a ton of ready made naan brands to choose from, and frozen Indian meals. I also saw certified organic products there which was nice. My favorite section was the little cabinet of hot food items like samosas which sold for $1 each (they were delicious!), masala vada (fried lentil patty), Indian desserts such as jalebi (deep fried batter in sugar syrup) and gulab (fried milk solid ball in syrup). I was most intrigued by their exotic ice cream flavors; fennel, amaranth seed and dry date, and fig to name a few! If you want to impress your guests grab those for dessert. This grocer was much larger and had more variety than I expected, and the people there were very helpful. I found curry powder for only $1.50, three different sizes of besan (chickpea flower), and a vast selection of dried beans, including adzuki, which I thought I could only get online or at Whole Foods. The fresh vegetable section was also extensive, and I was so surprised to see fresh bitter melon, snake gourd, and green eggplant. The checkout was in the annexed area where there is a small deli where you can get at least three types of hot samosas to go or to eat there. I will be back when I have more time to browse and plans to use the kind of produce you can only find here (or maybe all the way over on Nolensville Road in south Nashville.) read more

I love this place. I just wish I could get there more often. They even have goat options. The food is always great and if you like spice they will give it to you. I was biking nearby and saw a banner. Was it a mirage? An Indian grocer in Cool Springs? I had to check it out. And it was awesome - Clean, well stocked, and great prices! It's much bigger than the exterior lets on. If you're familiar with Indian foods, you should check it out for staples - no more waiting on internet orders or long drives to Nollensville Pike in Nashville. Even if you're not familiar with Indian foods or not a fan, you should still check out India Bazzar. Here are a few reasons why: -Fresh produce at great prices, including harder to find items like coconuts, Asian eggplant varieties, plantains, fresh turmeric root, etc. -An entire aisle of bulk rice of different kinds. -An entire aisle of spices at great prices and in various quantities (need a 2lbs bag of chili powder or turmeric? Cashier?!! Nice selection but feel like it was a waste of time coming here. Finally came in after passing by and was really excited they have a great selection of spices, dal, frozens and everything else but I walked around several times... no cashier so I asked the guys stocking on the floor how to pay? They look humored like I'm asking something silly, pointed and said "other side" so I went over and there was nothing except an emergency exit. Ugh games. Very prompt and the food is good , it is very spicy but if you ask for mild , they would prepare accordingly. I would recommend this place .

This store is very cramped and disorganized. When I went in yesterday, it was really crowded with many customers. There was no effort by the store to regulate the number of customers coming in or trying to keep the ones in the store spaced out. There were huge lines at the cash registers and no one was following distancing guidelines. The shopping carts are dirty and unsanitized, and there are no cleaning supplies for wiping them down. The person at the cash register had his mask pulled down below his nose. The customers were equally careless about respecting other people's space. With the increasing number of COVID cases, I was appalled by the callous disregard of the store owners in not respecting appropriate CDC guidelines. read more

Although it looks small from the outside, India Bazaar is a very good-sized Indian grocery store conveniently located off Carothers in Cool Springs. They have a nice produce section that offers foods not available in chain grocery stores, such as fresh curry leaves. They also have every variety of rice, spices, teas and pretty much whatever you need to make an Indian feast. I found both the staff and customers to be very helpful. I was looking for a number of ingredients, and some customers offered advice on brands they prefer over others, making my selection easy. This is a store I will frequent often! read more

Grocery store is okay but I had very bad experience at the restaurant which is inside this store(chai samosa). Looked at the menu on Sunday morning and also at the display items. Idly was with very bad texture, so did not want to try any breakfast. Ordered one single coffee as I had to drive back to Atlanta. I was waiting patiently but my coffee did not come out. I checked with the lady at counter and she asked me to wait for 5min for 3times. Finally I decided to cancel my order but they were so busy in finding a reason why my coffee did not come out rather than handling my request. Too loud music from kitchen and too many staff/owners at counter.. over all it's a big mess. I told them, I cannot wait any longer and filled up a cup with tea but it tastes like sugar cane juice not tea. So trashed it. Overall on fresh Sunday morning, my day started with very bad exp. This place sells overpriced and expired groceries! I will never go back to this store ever again!!!! They have no values or customer service whatsoever! When I went back and told them about the bad quality to let them know that if entire batch might have been bad, they responded to me very rudely. India Bazaar has everything you are looking for when it comes to making Indian food. I went there today for the first time for several things: curry powder (lots of varieties mixed according to what you are cooking), ghee, ginger root, and garam masala. I bought the bag of garam masala spices whole and went home and ground them myself with a few cinnamon sticks added since I didn't see any in the mix. The fresh aroma of those spices freshly ground is to die for, and much better than a can I bought (alongside the bag) of already ground garam masala. The better Indian restaurants at which I've eaten use fresh ground spices, you can tell. Do it, and you won't regret it. 5 stars for tremendous variety of items from small quantities up to bulk amounts on several staple items, and all at good prices, especially for Franklin, TN. read more
