Knob Hill Ranch - California Riding & Hiking Trail

I have been to Knob Hill Ranch on two separate occasions now, and both times were just beyond…read moreanything I could have expected! The first ride was a 2-hour sunset ride with my sister and niece, and the second was the 4-hour Wranger Special all by myself, only 3 weeks later, because this place is just that fun! All ranches that offer horseback riding are not equal. I have been to a couple ranches where they simply run it like a machine with little to no respect, having horses ride constantly throughout the day with little rest. Knob Hill Ranch takes a different approach, and after sitting with Madeline and Michael for a length of time after my 2nd ride, I learned that Knob Hill is on a different level than most ranches you'll encounter. Horses at Knob Hill are treated with such compassion and care. A horse only rides once a day, and that alone was enough for me to know I can trust the way this ranch is ran. They have a deep respect, for not only the horses, but the land as well, and you will feel it as soon as you get there. There is something sacred under the lands surface, and it feels as though the ranch is operating in such a beautiful way, because they're mirroring the sacred beauty and elegance that lies beneath the soil. Oh, and it's worth mentioning, they host equine therapy on their land as well, along with sound baths for folks. I mean, this ranch is dabbling into all things that revolve around healing and cultivating a calm and peaceful environment. Once you experience it, how could you not want to go back?! And for me, it's a 6 hour drive each way, totally worth it. After reading this novel of a review, it is clear this ranch is operating with a deep heart-centered intention, so they're not surface level folks running a machine to make money. And, if you're tired of surface level conversations about sports and weather, like myself, these are the folks you can dive deep into conversation with about life, and leave the surface level topics behind. They're providing an area on Earth for us to connect not only with horses and nature, but ourselves. Much gratitude toward Michael and Madeline!

I just got back yesterday from chaperoning middle school kids at CIMI, Fox Landing…read more My 5 star review is for the activities we did as well as the incredibly passionate, patient, and knowledgeable staff we got to work with, Brenna and Sofie. As a company, I hope you acknowledge, compensate generously, and appreciate the staff on your team for their hard work and dedication to the people who visit your camp and for giving us the experiences we have that make us want to send our kids the following years. It is them, and their talents, that turn a 2-star facility into a 5-star experience. I can not emphasize that last sentence enough, so a little louder for the people in the back: BRENNA AND SOFIE TURNED YOUR 2-STAR FACILITY INTO A 5-STAR EXPERIENCE. Our school signed up for intro to snorkeling, a night snorkel, a second day snorkel with play time (jumping off the floater), tide pooling, the large air swing, and kayaking. I read quite a few of the 1-3 star reviews from years past and could not disagree with them more. Could the facilities be upgraded? Yes. Should they be? Maybe. But this is camp. Have none of you gone camping before?? Camping is dirty. It is dusty. There are bugs. You're lucky when there are flushing toilets. This isn't a hotel with maids! And all of these kids- they could all use a lesson or two on cleaning up after themselves. You want the bathrooms to be clean? Teach your kids to not piss on the seat. You want camp floors clean? Teach your kids to shake off sand before coming in, and how to sweep the floors. It was embarrassing to see how many 13yo didn't know how to sweep the cafeteria of the food THEY DROPPED ONTO THE FLOOR 5 mins ago. I felt like all of these things, they were learning experiences for the kids and the ones that complained the most needed the lessons the most. The only time I had a real concern during the camp was during the night snorkeling; as the chaperone, I had a few minutes of panic when I felt claustrophobic as half of the kids (Sofie and I were watching 16 13yos) were climbing on top of me/the boogie board I was given, and the secondary chaperone, not a strong swimmer, also started to drag on me. During the night dives, I wonder if it would be possible to provide not just a buddy system, but have a handful of body boards provided to the kids? Some of these kids have 0 swim skills and not knowing if school-appointed chaperones are good swimmers, taking 16 kids into the ocean at night, hoping for the best... feels like there could be a couple extra measures in place. Food was sufficient- it was all "edible" and while I did see kids eating only cereal all three days, I also saw kids piling up their plates and eating it all. I did wish there was a way to keep the hundreds of small black fruit flies off of the salad greens and broccoli in the salad bar. Our rooms were inspected upon departure and another school did arrive by boat as we were departing. This means that the only cleaning done for bathrooms/cabins was by our departing kids, so my advice for future parents sending their kids- pack clorox wipes so your kid can wipe down the plastic mattress before setting up their bed and to wipe the toilet seat before their cheeks touch the pee-splattered seats. Pack crocs so they have shower slippers- shower floors were really gross. Know in advance that your kids will be wearing recently-pissed-in wetsuits, about 2 hours after another kid has worn them- but I'm going to guess this is true for every single rental gear dive spot at any vacation destination. And also know that they'll have a great time at camp.

I've sent my kids, nephews and recommended to friends. The program is top shelf! They deliver fun,…read moreadventure, and space for kids to be be kids.

Our first experience with Camp Galileo was last Summer for our daughters who were going into 3rd…read moregrade & Kindergarten. I had heard great things about the camp so had a feeling they would love it but the experience was beyond our expectations!! The themed weeks are fun and really give the kids multiple ways to put the STEAM lessons they are learning into practice by making something tangible. My Kinder made a nightlight, ride on scooter out of a cardboard box, party hat, step stool, as well as other things. I originally had signed her up for the half day but after I picked her up on the first day she begged to stay all day because she didn't want to miss out on anything!! My 3rd grader made a messenger bag out of duct tape as well as a robotic dog that moved it tail up and down as well as had a motor inside to make noise as it hit the cardboard box. They had to prototype their designs then they learned how to put everything together to make the end product. On the whiteboards in the class I saw a bunch of the kids names and asked my girls what that was for. They said (with excitement) Every time someone make a Marvelous Mistake they get to put their name on the board. I LOVE that they make kids realize it's ok to make mistakes as long as your trying. It gives them more confidence rather than being worried they aren't doing something "right". The staff knew my girls names after the first day (as well as all the campers). It shows that the staff is excited to be there and want to work for Camp Galileo. It's hard to find summer camps that will be enjoyed by both my girls who are 3 years apart but this did! They were disappointed when the week was over and want to go back this summer for more than 1 week. When your kids can have fun and learn that's a win win for sure!!

I'm not interested in a credit to be used in the future as I don't know my needs for camp beyond this year. Horrible way to treat customers. I would never recommend doing business with Camp Galileo.
