Lynchburg Movers

Lynchburg Movers came to save us! We were supposed to move out of a house on a Saturday and there…read morewere new tenants moving in the next day. We originally booked another company (local in Lexington) but they called and canceled last minute late afternoon on Saturday. We tried calling every moving company that were open on a weekend but no one would take our request to move the same day. Finally Lynchburg movers replied to us and they came all the way from Lynchburg to Lexington, that's at least 1 hour drive. The guys literally worked until 4 am Sunday to help us finish moving. We couldn't thank them enough! Literal life savers! Nothing got broken, they were fast and efficient. They were also honest about the pricing upfront. Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for movers. They show up!

I ended up spending ~$5K for this local company to be more deceptive and misleading than the national ones were, extremely unprofessional and inexperienced, and a pain to deal with. I regret the entire process. Find someone else who draws up a contract for the safety of both parties, or who at least knows what they're doing. Oh, and who won't steal/lose your things. I took a while to write this review because I wanted to have a level head so that I didn't overstate anything. However, 7 weeks out and I can safely say, free from any temper or emotion, that this was the worst moving experience I have ever had. (I suppose I brought this upon myself: he never drew up a contract for me to sign, and everything took place over text message. I should've known better.) I had a contract for $5K for a full-service move from VA to NY with a national company, but decided I'd be more comfortable with a local company. I found Armando and contacted him with very clear requirements: I am looking for a full-service mover. He said his company could do that, so he came over and gave me a price after taking inventory of my things. I cancelled my contract with the national brand. A week later, Armando texted me a price $1000 over what we had discussed. I called him out on it, and he told me we could go back to my original price. When moving day came, he informed me that they would NOT pack my things the way we had discussed - I had to box up everything in my house in an hour. The truck that he had brought to pack my things (18' truck) quickly proved to be too small for my furniture, and wouldn't even have room for the boxes. He brought a second truck, filled that one up too, and assured me that before delivery they would consolidate the boxes into one truck. The day he was supposed to arrive to my new home in NY to deliver my things, he informed me that he ended up needing a larger truck (26') and tried to charge me extra for it. I refused, under the basis that we followed his "professional" opinion for the size of the truck and that it wasn't my fault that he was wildly off in his estimate. When he arrived, he had only brought one person. I was confused until I found out that he had found two local guys here in NY that he paid to help him unload for a couple hours. (Local guys. People he'd never met. In my home.) Any time he was in my presence, he would say rude and disrespectful things about the way the boxes were packed, or how much stuff we had, etc. Not sure how much experience he had, since he needed my help figuring out how to disassemble things (like a floor lamp). The best part: as we were unpacking, we kept noticing things that were missing. At first, I would text him as things came up missing but he's never responded to a single text so I gave up. So far we estimate it's about $500-$600 of things we've noticed are missing/stolen. Was it him? Was it his partner? Was it the two random strangers he invited into my home? Who knows. The only positive thing I can say about Armando: on delivery day, my street in Brooklyn NY was too narrow for the huge truck he ended up using (it would've been fine with the truck he and I had initially discussed, FYI). He ended up pulling a brilliant maneuver and managed to squeeze into parking up on the sidewalk. That was pretty cool!

Nope, not again. This was our third time using Collegiate movers and is the worst moving experience…read morewe have had. For reference we have lived 5 times over the last six years. Asked for a quote, received it, but did not get anything in writing. Adrian said he needed $1200, for deposit, but explained there is a 3% charge for credit cards and asked for Zelle or Venmo payments. By the time we transferred the money over to that account, for the deposit m, the deposit was. $1500,. Thus was to be applied at the end. He had us send the money to his wife, not even to a business account.. Still nothing in writing, asked for this to be in writing, he sent an email with grey type on a white background. There was little communication after that. Even after reaching out the Friday before the move set to be on Tuesday, there was no response. He calls after 2 on Monday, to say the truck is getting repaired and still not back asking to adjust our move date. We had a short window, but was able to shift it a day. Asking us for places to stop for the night, putting their poor planning onto us. When they called to confirm the time was firm, they asked what kind of carts were available to move stuff out. They used a hotel cart that belonged to our building and got a shopping cart out of the alley, because they did not have a dolly or anything to move things with. I was surprised they had moving blankets at this point. They arrived 30 minutes later the time they were supposed to arrive and the set time we had access to the freight elevator. After showing them what they had to move, I suggested they not leave the truck where they had it parked, that things might walk off. They did not move it, felt it was okay (this was in Chicagoland). We made the block to see they left it there. They called when they finished moving out, no other communication until move in day. They sent a message the day if move in. They said they would be at the move in about noon and would give a call when they were 30 minutes out. At 1pm, we received that call, they were 30 minutes out. They arrived without a lock on the back. When asked, they said they park it so it is tight against a wall. We helped them unload the truck, because we were worried about the incoming rain. We changed nothing about our packing. Until this move we have only had one cereal bowl break. This time we had multiple glasses, a platter, a 5 gallon antique water jug and more. Also, completely missing whole boxes and at last count, at least $1,000 of our belongings. Several of which are family heirlooms that cannot be replaced. When we went to pay, Adrian wanted to add $450 for gas, to what he stated when he gave the estimate, was a fixed rate and is in the email he sent that is barely readable. Then wanted to change the additional credit card charge from 3% to 4%. I did the math for him and rounded up a few dollars, just to be done and stop the conversation.

The vehicle ran out of fuel. The owner spilled diesel in my vehicle and all over my driveway. My list goes on. I hate it for the 2 employees because they were doing the best they could with what they had. My items were not wrapped, strapped down and my boxes were thrown around without care. The owner was the most unprofessional person and considering how well they did in the past, I am truly disappointed. I wouldn't use them again if they paid me. I wish I could give negative stars. I cannot replace what they damaged.
