When Impulse first opened, it was a new, cool dance club. Now, I wouldn't go there unless i was wearing a bullet proof vest. The doors open around 10 p.m. but no one shows up until midnight. This proves to me the average person waits until they get wasted to go. It's so crowded and with a crowd that is, how should I say, less than upstanding. There has been several fights that have ensued right outside the club. Some involving weapons. There is one bartender there, that tends at the end of the bar. His name is Joey and he's great. He uses a lot of flare and magic tricks and has been the only reason I've gone back. If you are over 25, then you are probably too old for this club. They often have college night which brings in all the obnoxious college students from the surrounding colleges. The bathrooms are beyond disgusting. I can't even come up with the words that describe how nasty they are. I honestly would rather pee in the alley behind the club. It's the only true dance club in Charleston which is pitiful, so you don't have any other options. The bouncers give everyone a pat down but it isn't thorough. It's been at least a year since i've been and I do not foresee myself crossing their threshold anytime soon. Definitely look elsewhere. read more
