I would give this company 0 stars. I brought in the documents for my tax return at least 3 weeks before the deadline for filing. They kept losing documents and finally finalized my return two days after the deadline for filing tax returns. I was fined 941.01$! They denied any responsibility. I contacted them about some basic questions related to my US taxes (not complicated, just needed an expert's advice). I paid in advance for a consultation with a US tax consultant, as advertised, and had an appointment scheduled. They contacted me the night before the appointment to say that they don't actually do US taxes, but their sister company does (effisca??), but it would cost twice as much. The time of the appointment came and went - I was never contacted about it to say it was canceled or postponed. I was contacted the next week to set up a new appointment with their specialist but they never sent me a link to the meeting so I missed it (apparently they had just put it directly into my google calendar without any sort of notification). when I finally got my appointment, the specialist hadn't reviewed my questions in advance and had to googling it during our meeting (which I am capable of doing myself), and gave me the wrong answer. I ended up filing my Canadian taxes incorrectly (the review by my tax software caught the mistake for my US taxes) because he didn't understand the answer to a very basic question that he had to google. If you want to pay too much for nothing and ask another accountant to fix what they did : they can help you !!! they have prepared my tax for 2 years with different senior accountant. i had problems every year. she said I have 20 clients per day and it's possible to forget one part. read more

I wish I could put zero star. It took them one month to do my taxes. They charged me 200$ a month ago, after it was finally done, they came up with a new bill for over a hundred dollars! It's a rip off. Go do your taxes elsewhere. I did mine with them last year, the government ended up coming after me for more money. Bad customer service, the worst accountants and overcharge. This would have been the third year I was going to use this office. They are horrible! They give you an estimate for a fee to get your taxes completed. A couple weeks after you leave your papers with them, they call you and tell you they will add fees for forms that they had not calculated when you first dropped you paperwork. this renders the estimate completely invalid. The had quoted me 65$ plus tax because I was a returning customer. WEll this week, I received a telephone call from Tareq telling me that there would be about 20 dollars added to my bill because of my moving expenses forms. I asked Tareq if the return was completed and he said No, So I tell them to put aside all my paperwork, that I will be picking up my paperwork and going somewhere else for my taxes. I go the next day as planned and I am intimidated by two workers into paying cause they say the declaration was now complete (it was not yesterday when I told them to stop). I refuse and told them I do not accept the increase in fees they had put up. They continue to say I need to pay and they (alexandre Lacasse et Mme Zouani) REFUSED to released my paperwork so I could go somewhere else to have my taxes completed. Now I put in a complaint to the office de la protection des consommateurs and I will discourage everybody to go there. They illegally Hold your legal forms with your tax information on it, they intimidate you into paying and finally the tag extra fees once they have your paperwork. Ca aurait ete la troisieme annee que j'aurais utilise leurs services pour mes impots. Ils sont terribles. Ils m'ont donne un estime de 65$ plus taxes pour faire mes impots. 3 semaines plus tard, je recois un appel me disant qu'il m'en coutera a peu pres 20$ de plus pour remplir le formulaire a cause de ce qu'ils n'avaient pas calcule. Je leurs dis de tout mettre mes papiers de cote et de ne pas faire mon rapport d'impots, que j'irai ailleurs pour les faire faire. Le lendemain je me presente a leurs bureaux et ils essaient de m'intimider a payer car ils disent avoir terminer le formulaire. Je refuse car la veille les papiers n'etaient pas remplis (Tareq m'avait confirme) et que j'avais avise que j'irais ailleurs pour faire faire mes impots. Ils REFUSENT alors de me redonner mes papiers legaux (t4, releves etc) en disant que je devais payer avant qu'ils puissent me les remettre. NE PAS UTILISER! Ils ajoutent des frais a vos impots apres que vous leur laissez vos papiers, ils vous intimident a payer et finalement quand vous refusez de payer car vous aviez demande d'arreter le processus ILS REFUSENT de vous redonner vos papiers! read more

Similar to other reviews about Impot Ici, they are not to be trusted. My gf and I called ahead of time to get an approximation of how much it would cost to do a joint Canadian return and a single US return. It was around $150 *total* for the two Canadian returns, which was to include a First Time Home Buyer credit and my gf's maternity leave & child credit. The US return was supposed to be an extra $245, which hurts but seemed to be on par with what other tax preparers were also charging. We were told additional forms for either return would be in the $10-20 range, which is a complete scam to get you in the door. The reality is for the Canadian return with the extra forms (foreign rental income & work expenses, plus some other minor stuff) the total came out to $550! The worst part of it all... I filled the forms myself, all they had to do was file my work. I was charged $80-90 EACH for the foreign rental income (1 page document) and the expenses (2 page document). Again, I filled the forms and they charged the money. Then, when I went for the joke of a consultation, I was handed the bill which we were initially told over the phone was to be $150. A second update to the bill was to be in the range of $300 after they reviewed our documents. The actual bill was $550... not including our US return. They insisted on being paid before I received my filing documents. For both US & Canadian taxes you, the individual, are liable for your return, not the preparer. How am I supposed to pay an exhorbitant amount of money BEFORE being able to review their work? Normally, If you purchase a good or service, you receive said product and then pay. It goes for just about every industry without exception. Not these guys, they want their money first then you get your filing to check for a proper return and/or mistakes, that you will be held liable for. Don't go here, they're ripoff artists. read more

Took them my taxes to discuss having basic Canadian and US taxes done. They said it would cost about $800 to do both sets of taxes (which is far above what anyone else charges), then told me they would have someone call me the next day before any work was done. Nobody called me. I called and said I would come back in and pick up my paperwork because we were going to take the taxes elsewhere. When I went back in the following Monday to get the papers, they said my documents had been forwarded to their production office and they had already started work on my taxes...despite not having half the documents they needed and despite telling me they weren't going to work on them until after they spoke to me. Now they are telling me I have to pay them anyway for the work they did. Uh...no. Nope. Nada. Don't go here unless your taxes are very very simple, and don't trust them to do what they say they will do. Also be aware that they charge a lot more than most other places. read more

Warning: my return was funneled into a completely different account. Revenue Canada reissued eventually but these guys would not respond to questions about it. After four years with them I would never return. BE WARNED. read more
