Starting with the basics though, we offer a professional, Department of Agriculture approved space that is in a safe location with secured access available 24/7/365. We have designed our kitchen to maximize your efficient use of time in the kitchen - i.e. increasing your capacity for food production, use of a dishwasher, and no pack-in/pack-out if using our secure, onsite storage. The kitchen also offers ample space including 90 sq feet of tabletop workspace, a meeting space for your client consultations, and free wi-fi. Beyond the kitchen itself, we offer a super convenient, real-time scheduling website so you can see all available timeslots at any time and set your schedule as much as 12 months in advance. Any time you reserve has the option for you to have exclusive use or shared use of the kitchen equipment during those scheduled hours.

History

Established in 2015.

When the original founder, Jef Heuerman, graduated magna cum laude from the Midwest Culinary Institute, he knew that he had what it takes to succeed in building a cake business, but he worked out of his home and his small oven limited the number of layers he could bake at a time. His creative design process was also very cramped in a tight space of countertop and kitchen table surfaces. The whole process was inefficient and his small kitchen was in a constant state of disarray (not to mention the disruption it caused at family meal times). He desired his own shop, but reality set in when he considered the costs of commercial equipment, signing a long term lease, and investing in the requirements to meet local codes. The upfront expense was not something his family could handle at that time. He felt blessed and grateful when he could create the kitchen space he always envisioned, but his mission shifted from running his own cake shop to enabling the vision of many others!

Meet the Business Owner: Jef H.

When wrapping up high school and facing the decision of what I would do with my life, I took the "should" path doing what I thought was the sensible thing to do. I pursued and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business. I then continued on the path of "should" and started my career with typical sales and marketing roles in business. I knew that something was missing though, and I knew that I needed to take a bold step into a new adventure. My Imagine Kitchen vision began with a cake decorating class that I took years ago to compliment my love for baking. As I left class with decorated cakes, I started sharing my work with my coworkers at the office and the cake orders began to roll in. That sparked a new confidence in me that this could be a very fulfilling career pursuit so I went back to school to get my degree in Pastry Arts. Over time my vision and mission shifted to using both my business and culinary background to enable the creation and growth of small businesses.
