    The line already!

Wow this place is so cool! Nice a unique and super local ice cream shop. The ice cream itself was so fresh and delicious. The place opened in the afternoon and we got there 20 min before it opened. People were already starting to form a line that's how you know it's good! They literally have the cows in the field right next to the shop. Perfect little place to try if you're in the area and actually it's worth the drive to come from Manchester and Concord!

Great ice cream! Family run businesses need to be supported. Wish they were open year round but I am sure they need the break!

Amazing ice cream. Farm is cute and there are lots of space to eat. I wish they'd find a way to service more people a bit faster.

NH's best ice cream in a rural setting. Ice cream is homemade. Check out their menu on Facebook!

There are a variety of ice cream options to choose from and three of the four in my group chose to get flights. I love when places offer flights of things! This flight was four 2oz souffle cups placed in a nice wooden board with a handle; easy for carrying. It also came with the reasonable price tag of $6. The girl working got herself a little confused scooping the flavors on the three different flights so they didn't come out quite right. Also, we were given no directive as to which flavors were which. Both of the aforementioned could be remedied with a simple, small piece of paper with 1 - 4 listing each flavor left to right. This did make the ice cream tasting more interesting trying to figure out exactly what we got. We think one of the flavors wasn't one any of us ordered. I seemed to get all the correct flavors. I tried the blubarb (strawberry rhubarb), checkerberry (wintergreen), Jamaican nutmeg and shakin' bacon. Three of the four flavors I have never seen elsewhere and I've tried a LOT of ice cream places. All of the flavors were decently creamy and tasted good with my top two being the Jamaican nutmeg and checkerberry. The checkerberry was nice and refreshing and would be great as a palate cleanser in between courses. The Jamaican nutmeg had a good amount of real nutmeg flavor and reminded me of winter time. Everyone else in my group enjoyed most of their flavors... There were two, which we're not sure which ones they were, that they were on the fence about. But, as they say, different strokes for different folks. If you're an ice cream lover, an adventurous eater or just looking for a sweet, cool treat, get yourself to Richardson Farm in Boscawen for their homemade ice cream!

The ice cream is Giffords from MA. So nice tucked back in the woods. Tables with umbrellas to sit at, and if you walk down the path, there are chairs by the river!! So peaceful to sit and eat. What a great place to stop for cold treats and hot foods too!…read more Balthazar's Ice Shack is a small food shack located in the woods near the banks of the Sugar River (South Branch) along NH 31. It sort of feels like a cozy campsite in the woods. They offer 24 flavors of Blake's Ice Cream (cones, sundaes, frappes, floats), shaved ice, protein drinks, soft drinks, water. For hot foods, they offer sliders, hot dogs, quesadillas, chicken strips, chicken drums, fries, chili cheese fries, nachos, clam cakes, banana fritters, poutine, and a daily special item. The prices here seem pretty reasonable. There is ample seating and places to enjoy your cold treat and hot foods here including umbrella round table seating (near the shack) and wood chair seating down the small hill along the river bank and also chair seating in the river (river seats), great place to cool off! I stopped here recently while driving through Goshen. I ordered a Pina Colada Shaved Ice ($3), which was a very nice cold treat with a good amount of pina colada juice and surprises at the bottom of the treat, plenty of chewy colorful gummy bears! After looking at the hot foods menu, I decided to order some food to go! I ordered the Saturday Special which was a Lasagna and a piece of soft Italian bread ($6) and an order of Clam Cakes (6 for $4.50). The piece homemade lasagna was very good, similar to what I make at my home, which had layers of noodles, cheeses, ground beef, and tomato sauce. The clam cake balls were deep fried golden, which had a soft chewy texture with minced pieces of clam in the dough with tartar sauce on the side. The last time I had enjoyed clam cakes was two years ago at a fair in CT. Overall, this place not only serves great cold treats and hot foods, but also offers a unique experience of enjoying your treats very close to or in the Sugar River.
