To set the scene, it was the week of final reviews and I only had about a half hour left on my laser cutter reservation. Jordan threw (again LITERALLY) materials out of the way to get to the stuff I needed and get me out the door. He's a standup guy and this is a standup store. Don't let the small and slightly awkward location in the basement put you off. This is the best supply store on campus, not to mention the only one. And I feel much better supporting this place than some big chain or those snobs at art coop.

Great use of a large space and super friendly and helpful workers too! I was told it's Senior day on Tuesday, and they have a whole calendar of specials throughout the month. A nice female associate was the one who professionally interacted with me to tell me more about this place. If I still lived around, I'd shop here for food and clothes. And make my donations here too. So odd, I asked some folks entering here for a place to get garlic and all they suggested was a Meyer a nearby, but no way was I going to a Meijer for garlic. Glad I found it here. Maybe advertising at the register to the folks who shop here about the offering besides clothes would be a good idea. Unique thrift stores have in store "did you know?" announcements letting shoppers know about upcoming sales.

Dick's/Field & Stream, Macy's and JC Penny are the anchor stores. Mall also has your typical staple stores: GAP, Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, Payless, Old Navy, LIDS, several jewelry stores. Nice Illini Shop as well and I was surprised to see an H&M store. Food court appeared to have something for everyone, but we visited Auntie Anne's pretzels which was in the mall itself. Huge carousel for the kiddos in the food court. The mall is on the other side of town for us, so we'd probably only come back for a very particular reason or for a great sale. It's nice to see that the community is keeping this mall alive. So many indoor malls in cities the size of Champaign have closed.

There's anchor stores plus a few others like Old Navy and the usual. Has a pretty big food court. The food there mostly sucks but there's lots to choose from including Chinese and Mexican. Rad Lad Games opened when I was still in High School, and I was one of the first people to support…read morethe store. Since then, I've graduated and gone off to college, but this store is a highlight of every trip back to Illinois. Andy and his staff do great work to create a good environment. The store is always clean, has such a wide selection of games, and when you walk through those doors, you know respect is given to you, so long as you give it to everyone else in the store. That's not to mention how generous Andy is with prizing for events, frequent sales, and so much more. If you're looking for a game store in the Champaign region, my personal belief is that you will not find a better place than Rad Lad Games.
