Yes indeed, another Ikea has come to Belgium, this time in the poorer region of the country. That hasn't stopped the locals form coming out in droves though. The place only opened a week or so ago and going there today, the traffic was so bad that I went home and came back later.
The store is attached to the local mall, which is probably one of the sadder malls that I have ever been to. (I'm from New Jersey and I know malls!!) Due to this, parking is a bit difficult to find, especially more of a pain in the Belgian rain (and there was lots of that today).
My intention today was just to go and eat. Well, that line was pretty long too and I wasn't as hungry as the line was long, so instead we just walked through the store, bought a few items and then after paying, went to the small store/cafe. I love the cranberry sauce, so got some of that, as well as that delicious Swedish cake that my wife loves.
I remember reading an article about Mons in the London Telegraph early last year. It was about Mons being the 2015 city of culture but seemed that most didn't care; they were more concerned about when Idea was going to open. Sounded silly but today I saw that it was true. read more
