Heidi, our waitress is horrible. We waited 18min before we got our coffee. Our food came 5 minutes after we got our coffee. My boyfriend's BOYFRIEND'S coffee mug still had some woman's lipstick on it. We asked for more Splenda and she forgot? And brought sugar...we asked for extra Splenda again and brought a huge bowl of Splenda and a huge bowl of sugar. In addition to the massive sugar container already on the table. My scrambled eggs had massive amounts of American cheese when I asked for cheddar and our pancakes were hard. We are regulars here a day this is the worst experience we have had. read more

Brought the boys here the other night, when I was not wanting to cook. We love breakfast food for dinner nights. But my oldest will always choose a cheeseburger, if he has the option. But, eats everything on his plate & he's still hungry, so he finishes his brother's plate. My youngest nearly always picks the create-a-face pancake from the kids menu. At $5.99, it's a huge plate of a giant pancake with a couple bits of strawberry and a yogurt. I would like more fruit on the plate. It' enough food that he can't eat the entire thing. I would like fruit to also come with the other kids meals, in addition to the fries or broccoli, etc. They give you a choice to pick one. That would help make these a better value for the customer. The kids meals aren't the most expensive, nor are they the cheapest. My one true gripe with this place is that I called them the day before & asked if they had nights where kids eat free & she told me that it was on Wednesday's. But of course when I got there, no one had ever heard of such a thing. In fact, I was told by the person that she'd been there for years & they've never had it. Why did the person on the phone tell me they did? Our waiter was very nice & fairly attentive after an initial not responding to me. He kept drinks refilled and even offered me one to go. My family and I tried to go to Ihop today and this young lady was rude and racist. She let other people go in but my family of 5 she didn't allowed us go in. she said that the food for us was going to be limited and considering one of us was a baby. The family before was 4 and supposedly she said we were a big part. IHOP Smyrna you need to fire Tracy. She's the rudest waitress there. This morning my family and I stopped in for breakfast, i began ordering my food. I normally get a Colorado omelette no beef, pork sausage add mushrooms and Spinach Simple, right?! Well Tracy told me after taking more than two out of the Colorado omelette I would need to create my own. No one has ever told me that, not that it mattered. She then repeated what I asked to be taking out of my omelette, so I said... let's start over... repeated it again.. she started over talking me, Rude..finally she said.. I'll get you another waitress.. thanks Tracy.. looks like you're having a bad day.. reported her to the manager. We ate and left and probably will NOT be back... My wife and I have been eating at this IHOP for over 10 years. Like all businesses it has it's up and downs. Today was the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant in my 69 years of existence on this planet. The waitress was aloof and uninterested. Very poor service. She told us that they had received a very large to go order so there was a delay after we were seated and served our drinks. When we gave her our order she didn't write anything down and stood there looking around like she wasn't listening. After about 30 minutes with little contact with her she brought our order. The food was cold and incorrect. My wife's pancakes were room temperature so she asked her to microwave them. She brought me pancakes (cold) which I did not order with frozen butter on top. She then brought the hash browns I ordered. I asked her to bring some softened butter which we had ordered previously from the original order. A different lady brought the pancakes out set them down and walked away. No softened butter. So I gave up on that. My Western Omelet was lukewarm and my wife's food was, again room temperature. She decided to bring it home, microwave it here and just forget the rest. The waitress then came up handed us a takeaway box the ticket and walked away. When she handed me the ticket she said "I gave you a 10% discount for any little difficulty you may have had". Like it was my fault. We got up to go to the register to pay it where two waitresses were standing against the back wall gossiping and informed us that "we don't pay tickets here, your waitress does it". About that time our waitress started in our direction and a tall executive looking man with glasses and salt and pepper hair and an older lady who I knew to have worked there years appeared. The man asked me if everything was OK. I told him not really. When he asked me the issue I told him I was unaware of the new policy. In unison all the employees, including the man and the older lady at the register shouted, "IT'S ON THE TICKET". I stated the waitress should have informed me at the time she brought the ticket. Once again I was then informed once again "It's on the ticket". So i said then put up a sign stating the policy or teach your waitresses to inform people as it is in nearly every restaurant I've ever been to. Needless to say it continued I got more frustrated and the condescending demeanor of the man and the older lady just got worse and attempted to make it appear that everything was my fault. As I stood at the register the man said you don't have to come here. I said I won't. As I walked out the door, the older lady waved, smiled and YELLED, "GOODBYE, DON"T COME BACK". I turned and said "I won't". And I won't, believe me. read more

We were traveling late and decided to stop and get something to eat. So we stopped here. The wait for seating was about five minutes. As we go through to sit down, we noticed a sheriff sitting in the front booth. He wasn't on break eating. He was assigned there. We should have left but we didn't. It took us about ten minutes to get waited on. Anthony was our server. He was really greasy looking. Hustled around but didn't get anything done. Forgot a lot of things at other tables besides ours. Anyway, our drinks took about ten minutes. They were wrong. Food took exactly 37 minutes. During the meantime the door to the restaurant was locked. People came in ranting about it. Anthony told them company policy says something. I couldn't hear. We heard cursing and complaining. During the whole time, I saw the manager doing nothing. Not helping. Not seating or making drinks. Just stood at the food window. And also, our food came up and I heard Anthony say he was cashing out his credit cards. He did while our food was finally ready and sitting up under the heat lamps. Stopped in here after leaving Nashville on our way to SC. So glad we did. My husband had the steak and hash brown omelette and was to die for. The peach pancakes he had were great too. As IHOPs go this was a pretty nice one. Normally I'd give the food 2 stars but this particular restaurant was clean and modern. Our server was chatty and prompt. She was extra nice with my son. Even the host and hostesses up front were friendly and cordial. The food is "meh" as with any IHOP but it's cheap and quick. The four flavored syrups are fun for something different: boysenberry, strawberry, blueberry and butter pecan. I really wish they take the extra time to make their fruit sauces from scratch. I hate the canned blueberry, strawberry or apple filling you'll fins blobbed on the pancakes. read more

Finally a greeter came to entrance, acted like she might have two spots. Let me assure you they were not overcrowded at 2pm. Had to request the table to be wiped off. Jean (I believe) throwed menus down. We ordered water and she slammed them on the table. Very curt and anxious. Talked with other employees saying she didn't worry about anything and just went with the flow. Our food was terrible, chicken not cooked well and not very much lettuce in a cobb salad which was ordered as a main course. All employees seemed to have a negative attitude. Excellent food, excellent service. I have absolutely no complaints. This was one of the cleanest Ihops that I've ever been in. Clean walls, floors swept, no sticky syrup to be found anywhere besides in their containers. Service was on point. I didn't have to ask for anything. Food came out just the way I ordered it. I live in south Nashville but it's definitely worth making the short trip to Smyrna when we go to Ihop. No other Ihop compares. Take notes, other guys! This is how it should be done! read more

I Hops for me are always going to have a reputation for slow service due to the insane amount of people that come in to eat. But they shouldn't have such a terrible service when it comes to days that are not busy what so ever. The food was great but I didn't get the order I had asked for so I didn't even bother telling him directly so I let the tip do that instead. I also didn't like the fact that none of the staff looked like they wanted to be there. read more

There are pros and cons to this location. I've had mixed experiences through multiple visits and here is what i found. 1) Pro- they advertise a to go menu. Con - they've been too short staffed to take orders via the phone, place callers on hold upwards of 10 to 15 minutes and don't return, or they send the phone to voicemail during peak hours. 2) pro- food is pretty good and has gluten free options as well. Con- they ran out of pancake batter one of my last visits (its a pancake house...how do you run out of the number 1 thing you advertise for?) And also did not cook the food as per the menu. I ordered chicken cordon blue and it came with fries instead of roasted red potatoes and the soup was all broth with 3 carrot piece and 4 small noodles. 3) Customer service varies by time of day. Morning/afternoon people are less focused on customer needs. I ran out of my drink and it was never refilled. Evening shift is more social and observant, brought my daughters food out first because she was fussing and ours followed shortly after. Don't expect to eat here without a long wait or poor service on a Sunday. The place is packed, poorly cleaned on Sunday morning/afternoons. read more

We came to Smyrna Tn. For a soccer tournament and stopped for a brunch after game one. The server Magen H. Was over the top nice. Magen was so quick and guided us through all of our choices the food was awesome, hot, and came out actually looking like the picture which made my daughter so happy with her cinnamon roll french toast. Recently moved to the La Vergne/Smyrna area from Antioch. I had sworn off the Antioch location, so when I learned there was an IHOP close to where I live, I decided to give that one a chance instead. It was a fairly standard experience. The food was good. However, I cannot give over three stars because the server, Heidi, was very rude. She spoke in a condescending manner, could not even pretend to smile, and was more than happy to forget all about us once our food came. Not once did she check back, and in fact, it seemed as though she was actively avoiding even coming our way. So much so that she actually brought the check along with our food-- that came off as extremely rude, in my opinion. I feel as though as I should also add that it was not busy at all, and she only had one other table-- a table of three. She was very unpleasant, but like I said, the food was good, there were no issues with our order. Once it was time to go, the manager was very friendly and helped us cash out. It wasn't a completely awful experience, and I might return...so long as Heidi is not my server. read more

Terrible experience... much like the last 2 times. The girl that rang up my carry out order was excellent, very friendly. I ran to Starbucks and returned ~5 minutes late, no one could find my order, they kept asking what I had. Luckily the girl that rang me up was still there after her shift ended to help the current employees out. I got a veggie omelet and chocolate chip pancakes. $18. If I could leave negative amounts of stars I would. This place has disappointed me time and time again. Im officially done with this specific location there service is garbage. Every time I come in I wait to be greeted by my server then I wait a longer then normal time to receive my drink and now I know not to drink it to fast cause refills don't happen unless you ask multiple times. I've had many servers there all the same AWFUL. They sit by the computer on there phones then complain about getting sat a table all in ear shot from the people there supposed to be taking care of. There slow and unorganized and if you ask for something they bring you way to much. I asked for creamer for my coffee the guy literally brought me 20 I was the only person at my table drinking coffee. I enjoy the food my kids love there pancakes I'll continue to go but I will not return to this location unless there is a serious change in staff word of advice fire your servers or properly train them. read more
