I frequent this spot on a regular basis. We are usually are seated right away, if not within 5 minutes. Once we are seated and have our menus, a server quickly follows offering us coffee/drinks. Bonus points, since I need my morning cup of coffee. The coffee isn't very strong, yikes, and I think this would be the only downside. If you are looking for some GOOD pancakes, theirs has a nice buttery, melt in your mouth type goodness to it. The food is cooked with a bit too much butter or oil, not sure what they use. I also liked there Savory Crepes which are nice in portion and descent to try out. Service is definitely 5 stars but the food is so-so. Been here twice and great waitress both times. And there seems to be a culture of service with everyone. Rude waitress and unprofessional service - Went here around 10PM on a Friday with a party of 3. There weren't a lot of customers but they were obviously short staffed since it took a really long time for a server to take our order. Finally, a waitress shows up but she was extremely rude from the very start. Didn't get her name but she was much older than everybody else there. I asked her if it was possible to substitute a different fruit topping for my order (because of allergies) and that was when she rolled her eyes and started giving me attitude. Her demeanor was shocking to us because we were very polite to her and we had never experienced customer service worse than this. She remained rude and aggressive as we were ordering 2 simple dishes. When the food arrived, one of our dishes was completely different from what we ordered. She knew it was the wrong dish and yet she still insisted that it was what we ordered. It had to be sent back and she seemed really pissed. I understand that she must've had a horrible day at work but I wish she had remained professional. Also, prior to taking our order, we could hear her getting mad at the host who placed new customers on the right side of the restaurant. Even if the host made a mistake, this rude waitress should've at least talked to him somewhere else where there weren't any customers. It is really unprofessional to treat your fellow staff like that out in the open for all the customers to see. I've read other reviews for this location and realized that I wasn't the only one who had a similar experience with rude servers. There seems to be a huge problem with the staff at this iHOP. I definitely think the food here is up to par. I especially enjoy the Banana Nutella crepes. It can get pretty busy here on the weekends, but if your party is small, they seat you quickly. The servers here are kind but do seem rushed, which is understandable. Service was awesome! They cater well to toddlers and babies. I went with my husband, 3 year old, 2 year old and almost 1 year old. The fresh fruit was great for the toddlers, and I was able to slice up the fruit small enough for my 1 year old. The highchair was clean, and actually worked. The toddlers didn't want a booster seat initially, but the server was able to produce a clean, non-sticky booster very quickly. My husband always orders the stuffed french toast-- and was surprised that they come with different toppings. The server also suggested an iced coffee, and said they were free refills. My husband couldn't pass that up!! So he drank 3 glasses, and the server was quick to get him refills! I had an delicious chicken fiesta omelet. I could only eat half--I was so full! Our server was very prompt to get us boxes for our food and the dessert came quick. With toddlers or babies-- that is very important because they let you know when they are out of patience. Very Disappointed About an Order for Mother's Day 2020 I can't believe how disorganized this place for Mother's Day was. I am very disappointed. I tried to preorder 4 plates the night before, but the clerk on the phone told me that I can't preorder and to call the next day. I called at 6:45 a.m., and I told the clerk that I want to make an order to be ready at 11:00 a.m. She told me that I had to call back at 10:45 a.m. I called at that time three times. I must have let it ring about 8 times each time, and nobody picked up the phone. Since I was facing those obstacles, at about 10:50 a.m. I went online to order 2 plates of french toast with strawberry and banana toppings, one 2 x 2 x 2 pancake combo with bacon strips, one short stack of pancakes, and one side of sausages. For this whole order, I requested Curbside Delivery. The order was confirmed and stated that it would be delivered curbside at 11:15 a.m. My husband and I arrived at IHOP here in Newark at 11:15 a.m., but there was no IHOP employee waiting at the curbside to give us our order. Therefore, I went inside the restaurant to see if our order was there, and the clerk said that they were backed up. She said that we would have to wait about 20 more minutes, and she would deliver it to us curbside after the 20 minutes. We waited 20 minutes in our truck, but there was no curbside delivery. Therefore, for the second time, I went back inside the restaurant, and the clerk said it would take another 20 minutes, and she also said again that she would bring our order to us for curbside delivery. We waited again for about another 25 minutes, and we noticed that a customer that went inside the restaurant after us was walking out with their order. This made us really upset. Then, we went inside for the third time because there was still no curbside delivery. When we got inside, our order was in a bag sitting on one of the tables, but we were upset because we had to go inside, and the original clerk had told us that she was going to curbside deliver it to us. When we got home, we were further disappointed because the order was all mixed up. For the two french toasts plates orders, there were no strawberry and banana toppings on them, and one of them had sausage, and the other plate had bacon. For the 2 x 2 x 2 plate, it had sausage, and it was supposed to have bacon. This whole situation was disappointing, and this was for Mother's Day! We tried to make are order problem-free by trying to order the day before, and they would not let us preorder ! Secondly, we tried to call the same day right when they opened, and they still wouldn't let us preorder the same day. Thirdly, after we were finally allowed to order, it wasn't on time, and we had to wait about an hour and half for it to be ready. Finally, the cooks made careless mistakes with our order ! This kind of service is unacceptable! We would not recommend this IHOP restaurant, and we plan to never order from them again ! read more

Pretty discrete location but that's one reason that makes this IHOP a lot better than most. It's quiet here and one of the few places where you can get a decent American breakfast on a weekend without the long wait. It's sort of a hidden gem in that no one knows about it except the handful of locals around the area. It's always busy enough to make the establishment feel lively and welcoming but not overcrowded. I've been here several times so far and I always order the de leche pancakes. I never liked de leche or ordering pancakes from a place like IHOP or Denny's (no offense Denny's), but the de leche pancakes here are literally (and oddly) to die for. The service here is always very friendly and extremely attentive which is surprising. Never thought I'd be giving five stars to a chain restaurant but this IHOP deserves it. I have had decent breakfasts and very bad breakfast here. I usually get the breakfast sampler or the lumberjack special when they have it. Despite all the bad reviews, we still decided to go there. I had the stuffed french toast that was on sale that day. As you can imagine, the french toast is heavilly grilled, the back side is all black. It tastes okay, but the creme filling is overly overly sweet. Even me, who can tolerate high level of sweetness, find this to be unacceptable. My dad ordered the fried chicken plate, a huge amount of food. By the way, the scrambled egg was very bland, i had to add bunch of salt and pepper, but bacon was too salty, i had to drink water to go with it. Overall, okay. "newbie"), I tried taking a pic at our table --on my first "dining out" after major surgery in November --- and I was not very successful. Our server "Lupita" was super gracious: took the pic, "tutored me" in HOW TO SEND it to our extended family members.... and this, after providing EXCELLENT SERVICE throughout our meal. This is one of the worst managed ihop. I go there saturday morning and ask for a table for 5. They say 20 min and take my name down. The waiting area was full so I decided to go outside. Shocking! I ordered chicken pasta -a fit n flare option. When the food was brought it looked bland. Oh! They had missed the tomatoes! We'll the server noticed that too. But what was shocking that he said that the dish did not have balsamic! They had ran out of it. Now I did not understand why would you make a dish when you ran out of one of the ingredients? And that too without letting the customer know of that??? At check out we were told that we could add a substitute sauce! This is my favorite IHOP location in the area. I've become a "regular" at this particular location. I'm not here to criticize their food because, well, it's IHOP. I will, though, vouch that this place is the best when it comes to food preparation and service. Maybe it's just me? But I do get an excellent experience every time I go here. My only thing is that I would avoid going during their peek hours (Saturday/Sunday during breakfast through brunch) because I hate waiting. I very much like IHOP for breakfast. I especially like this location the food and service are always good. Today we had a nice waiter named Sergio who was very attentive and polite. He made sure our beverages were filled and asked several times how we were doing and if we needed anything. We have a 1 year old toddler and Sergio was very patient with us as we requested an extra plate and juice for our son.
