Well, no signs in English, so it was hard to know exactly what was going on, but I believe that this church with Islamic-style architecture also serves as a museum for the Visigoth culture that predated the Muslim invasion from North Africa back in the 9th century or thereabouts.
If you can tolerate the pigeon stank, there is a nice little tower to climb for a panoramic view of Toledo. Being up at the top of the tower by ourselves reminded us of the climatic scene from Vertigo, except this tower was wrapped in a sort of chicken wire cage to protect against any rapid gravity-powered descents. (To be realistic, the chicken wire was probably intended mostly to keep the pigeons out, but it also offered some mild sense of protection.) read more
