I don't do Church, I've always found it to be full of people that think they are too good or…read morepastors that preach down on people. So when my g/f asked me to go with her my immediate reactions was not in this life time but after a dirty look, I decided to suck it up and go with her one Sunday. I'm glad I did, what a refreshing way to do church, no super preachy sermons, no people dressed up, while you certainly can tshirt and jeans are also just fine. Relevant, modern day preaching without the holier than thou attitude.

I first wrote my review of Vinings Lake Church in 2009. Each week, we provide food for families in need through the Save It Forward program. Many members serve in Haiti and we regularly support missions in Haiti. We support efforts to stop sex trafficking. I've served alongside my fellow church members in a hot warehouse sorting food and passing it out to those in need. We've worked side-by-side to build food pantries. We have service days regularly where we go out into the community and serve. The service-orientation at Vinings Lake is like no church I've ever been to. This church gives A LOT. The children's church is awesome. Community groups, where you can really connect with others, are great. We have service times at 9:30 AM, 11 AM and 6 PM on Sundays at the Cooper Lake location in Mableton. If you are really late to the 9:30 AM or if you have a taste for a bagel (like I do sometimes), go to the Twisted Taco service at 10 AM. I recently discovered our 10 AM service at Twisted Taco on Camp Highland Road in Smyrna. I heart it - you can come, grab a free cup of coffee and a bagel and watch the service live - it's piped in from the Mableton location. If you don't like traditional church - this church truly does things differently. Come visit!

I partially disagree with the first review. I was a member of Orange Hill, but due to my moving out…read moreof the area I can no longer consistently attend. OHBC is a strong Biblically based church. They do not teach from an outside text, but treat the Word of God as infallible and inerrant. They understand the Bible is sufficient for all things. I personally know the pastor and his family and you will not meet a better group of people. The pastor and his wife seek the Lord with all of their hearts and trust in Him alone for guidance. The pastor will deliver a strong, poignant message each week. You will leave with OHBC seeking Christ and thoroughly examining yourself, praying God will use you to advance His glorious kingdom! If you are looking for sound Biblical doctrine and a pastoral team that focuses on Christ and teaching the Bible verse by verse, Orange Hill is the best place to go in the Austell area.

People rarely write reviews on churches and I can understand why. Please take this as my opinion…read moreonly and try out Orange Hill for yourself. Orange Hill has a mostly Caucasin (sp?) congregation which should be taken into account if you are not aware of the differences between white baptist and black baptist churches. The greeters at the church were friendly (as in nice to meet you vs. a welcoming hug or handshake). Since, we went with children, one of the ladies, showed us to the nursery (which was VERY NICE). Once we dropped the children at the nursery, we went back to the service and listened to the praise music which was Christian Rock though heartfelt. The pastor spoke from Rev. (which is generally doom and gloom) but his sermon was not. He spoke passionately though he preached from the bible and another book (I'm not sure what the book was called). Pros: Great nursery and child care facilities, passionate pastor, good Christian rock band Cons: Preaching from a book other than the bible, friendly but not welcoming congregation One thing to note, is that there is a smaller church on the same property (with a mostly African) congregation. This could be a bit confusing if you intended to visit one of the churches and ended up at the other.
