My wife and I stayed nearby on our honeymoon and ate here four or five times during out two week stay in Florence. It's a very local experience. away from the touristy restaurants of the city center with local Tuscan cuisine and excellent service. The hosts speak English pretty well and the wait staff only a little, depending on who you get. The menu is available in English but it's better if you can speak some Italian as the translations were at times a bit off. Even so, with their friendly service, you will manage even if you don't speak any Italian.
Without a reservation we waited about 20 minutes for dinner each time which gave us plenty of opportunity to check out the desserts and look at what people were ordering that night. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the café latte and cappuccino smooth and delicious, the meats, cheeses and sauces all exquisite. I had best cheesecake I've ever had in my life, incredibly light, not overly sweet, and drizzled with a delicious cranberry sauce.
We crammed in one last meal for lunch before heading to the airport, no wait this time. We love the Frantoio di Santa Tea organic olive oil that was on each table and did a quick search to see if we could order it on Amazon when we got home. Yes, for about $42/bottle with shipping! Turns out, the restaurant sells it so we purchased a bottle to take with us for €10.00.
I'Giuggiolo is open late and fills up more the later it gets, especially on weekends. Oh how I miss it already! read more
