Although it's small it's also really neat and clean, and obviously since they specialise in Korean groceries they have a pretty decent range of Korean items. A lot of it seemed to be refrigerated stuff, with one whole wall taken up by a fridge housing a heap of drinks and other goodies. There was only one shelf in the middle of the store with long life items, so you certainly won't need hours to explore it, but if you're after some special bits to cook up a Korean storm this should be your go to.

It's also next door to a butcher which is super convenient. There are all the fruits, pasta's, cheeses and sauces you could hope for. Plus it's a pretty convenient location, on the way to the city if you're going out and need to take anyhting. I didn't notice that they cut their own meats or cheeses, but once again next to a butcher so you may have that sorted there. The staff are friendly, the shop was easy enough to get around, and I was able to buy some fresh flowers out the front. All in all a nice place to visit and next time I feel like a nice tapas plate I'll be going there.

I would definitely suggest buying one of the special $2 curry paste block things. They are AMAZING! It's a shame they put an English nutrition tag over the instructions on how to use but you can peel it away. But yes best way to make incredible home made Japanese Katsu style curries! They do some great organic products and have some decent prices on Japanese frozen and chilled products (like various tofu). They intermittently have fresh vegetables but if you are a rice eater then the bulk quantity bags are definitely worth the money! The couple of staff I've seen there are fantastically friendly.

Lucky Market Asian Grocery focuses on Korean products. When I'm feeling adventurous, I come here to buy two-minute noodles in exotic brands and flavours that you don't usually see in Chinese grocery shops. Plus it's always a lucky dip to try their myriad of Korean sauces and pastes. This place also has a good range of kimchi and I've never come across a larger variety of seaweed. There's wakame, kelp, marinated products, nori and Kombu plus at least a dozen other seaweed product I can't identify. For all your Korean grocery shopping needs, try Lucky market Asian Grocery.

Hai Chu is my favourite Japanese candy; chewy little flavourful rectangular prisms of whatever artificial ingredients it's made from wrapped up and presented in a tube like format - delicious. I will forgive them this horrendous faux pas and say that it's still a great supermarket.

That said, Going to Chermside is a bit of a hassle these days. Even if your stay is short enough to not pay for parking, ugh. You still have to deal with the tickets, and then you just ALWAYS happen to get stuck behind the person who can't operate the exit and ends up being stuck there for ages. Really, just head out to the DFO Woolies, it's open 24 hours now too.
