I first tried IBMC about six months ago. I was super happy with my highlights, but have come to learn very quickly that I must've had the very best most conscientious stylist student EVER. She did phenomenal work, but unfortunately for me graduated. The two times that I've been back since have been a nightmare and the reason I will never go back. When I went for a root touchup, the girl failed to get the dye out of my hair on two separate attempts after I had already spent 30 minutes in the rinsing sink and proceeded to style my hair with dye still in it that she HAD to have seen was there because it was all over my hands and my clothes when I got in my car. I thought I would give it one more chance today and went back to get my hair lightened again. I told them exactly what I wanted, showed the pictures of what it looked like the last time I had it done, and that I didn't want chunky strands of bright orange. It needed to all blend in nicely and they said they understood. Very soon after, I realized that the girl working on my hair wasn't even putting bleach to my roots, she was only bleaching part of the hair I needed blended in, I asked to speak to an instructor who set her on the right path. I would hear what the instructor told her to do, and then watch her not follow those instructions. So I would stop her and ask her to explain what she was doing, considering what the instructor had told her to do, which would end in the instructor coming over again and reiterating where she was going wrong. This happened multiple times which then caused me to lose all faith that she might know what she was doing. I finally asked her how many times she'd done highlights, and she said she had done it five or six times, but that "it just isn't my thing". Doesn't exactly inspire confidence! If I hadn't already had bleach in my hair at that point I would've gotten up and walked out. My hair is a freaking mess now and it's going to cost me hundreds of dollars to fix it after I just spent $100 and five hours in a chair. WORSE, the poor little lady that was sitting next to me, a woman old enough to be my mother in her 80s, had to literally take off her shirt so that they could throw it in the dryer because the person working on her got he r clothes so wet while they were rinsing her SHORT hair. This poor little lady had to stand shirtless in the middle of a salon, wearing only a poncho over her bra on top while several young girls kept taking the blow dryer out of *my* stylist hands to hand-dry her shirt. Envision this: four or five young women hovering around an elderly topless woman standing in her bra and a poncho using my hairdryer to dry her shirt when there were literally 20 other hairdryers within reach. I can't even begin to describe how freaking annoyed I am at how this woman was treated. As I'm checking out, this poor little lady is ahead of me paying and mentions to the receptionist what had happened with her shirt. The receptionist blames it on the rinsing bowl and tells her that she's the only one that complains about it. I spoke up and said she absolutely is not the only one, that I too was soaking wet because my stylist couldn't be bothered to make sure that the poncho was tight or that I even had a towel between my skin and the poncho. So gaslighting the elderly lady on top of her already embarrassing experience is pretty un freaking excusable. i'm home now, getting ready to completely redo what I just paid $100 for someone else to do, covered in hair dye on my skin that I don't even know if I'm gonna be able to get off I understand that this is a learning situation. That these young women are learning and that we are the guinea pigs by choice. That said, it should also be taught that they need to know when to ask for help and not just say 'yes I know what I'm doing' when they clearly don't. Additionally, some sensitivity training about how to deal with elderly women having to stand topless in the middle of a salon should also be seriously considered. SO IT NEGER HAPPENS AGAIN!! I've lost count today of how many ridiculous situations I've seen in that salon and will never, ever go back. If you need a simple trim, they're probably great. If you want anything more than what you might be able to do yourself at home, think twice. You most likely be better off doing it yourself at home. read more

We get brand new teachers that either don't know how to teach or want to teach. They pulled one teacher from the floor area and she said she didn't want to teach he rather be on the floor teaching. The teach I have now is SUPER QUITE!!! EVEN IF ANITHER STUDENT IS MAKING A MISTAKE HE WILL NOT CORRECT HER!!!! What kind if teacher don't correct there students. We were doing a fish tail brand and she was doing it with three strains of hair and not two. He justed looked at it side ways and made a face and walked away. Another student was doing a full hair curling her manics when we were only supposed to do half. He never CORRECTED HER!!! I just started in September and so far thus is worse than high school. I'm paying 30,000 dollars and these teachers are horrible. You can tell they don't want to be there, they don't care, they don't correct anything. They just have you watch videos and the next day have you do it. No instructions no insight, no pointers. No nothing. They walk the class and look at our work see us struggling and say nothing. Not one word. When braiding mine was loose I'm struggling on how to make it tight do I thing the teacher come over to say oh if you hold the hair like this it will make it tighter. Or when we were curling the manic hair with curlers you would think they would tell us make sure you put a lot alot of gel or it won't stay. We ALL come in the next day to take the curlers out and NONE of the manicains hair curled. Will this happened to natural hair. Do I have to put a lot of gel on a regular person's hair. These taechers are a JOKE. And I just started. IBMC YOU NEED TO DO BETTER. GET TEACHERS THAT ACTUALLY WANT TO TEACH. THAT ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO TEACH !!!! read more

If i could give it 0 stars I would; you see, I'm not one to write any sort of bad reviews but this school has been living torture for many students. First off; tuition alone is 30 grand and out of that 30 grand, they give you the lowest quality equipment to cut hair with , then they expect you to somehow have your own clientele as a beginner and to bring them in . (If you are lucky you will get a cut or 2 a week) . They have a dress code like we are still in high school and are strict on it . If you dont have a barber jacket (psa: only like 2% of real barbers in the real world actually wear a "barber jacket") they will send you home and you will lose your grade for the day and as well as your time needed to go for graduation as it is an hourly program. Then if you get sick and can't come in on that day of school you need to make the time up (understandable) however, if you fail to make up even just one hour out of the many hours you're gonna be there for a single session you automatically fail the session and need to pay an extra $500 fee. And none of those previous hours you put in on that session ACTUALLY went anywhere (you basically wasted your own time getting sick). The icing on the cake would HAVE to be student services , recently they introduced a students FEE if us students want our hair done by our student classmates; Oh and by the way, take a wild guess on who receives the money! *HINT* (not the student doing the service) If this brief article don't tell you enough about how awful Ibmc is then I don't know what will. If I could put 0 stars on here I would! Two and a half weeks ago I scheduled an appointment for six little girls to have mini mani pedis and updos done. The week before we were to have them done I received a call from the receptionist asking me if we were still coming? I told her yes but not until 2 o'clock next Saturday. I made sure that that was okay two o'clock on Saturday the 21st in Longmont and she told me it was fine. I got there with four of the little girls and the college was closed. They need to seriously figure out what they are doing. I had four little girls in tears very upset because my daughter's birthday party was almost ruined. Thank goodness for the other beauty college in town. On top of everything else it just happened to be that that was the Saturday of their graduation. You would think they're receptionist wouldn't know it was graduation day. I will never step foot in there again!! read more
