I have attempted to try other drinks or just take sips of the Mister's drinks to try other drinks at iTea. Oh how I miss this place during our shelter in place. Most of the time I call in my order because it's way easier. After you phone in your order over the phone they will give you a number. Once you get to the store, just walk over to the pick up area and tell the person you got a phone order to pick up. Provide the number they gave you they will ring you up right away. I get it the line out the door can be intimidating but trust me..walk over to the pick up area and let them know. I normally order varieties of drinks so I dont have a favorite o e and as for food....you must try the garlic fried shrimp! Omg it's so good! I've only been to I Tea (3) times and each time they never offered me a bag, or give me napkins without asking. When I ask for a bag after I had paid. One the workers tells me a bag is a $.10. I thought was petty, but ok and I was paying with a card. My third visit same thing, no bag offered, and I had to ask for napkins. iTea is nothing fancy, but as one of many boba shops in Castro Valley, it's a consistently good place to come get a refreshing cold drink. In particular, I was glad to see that it was open today, on President's Day, so I could come get my boba fix. Of course, it seems like half the town had the same idea because there was a line out the door (as there often is), but it usually moves fast -- today was no exception. My friend ordered the Jasmine Green Milk Tea, which comes with boba, and I ordered the White Peach Oolong Teaspresso. (I added boba to mine, because... how could you not?) We both got our drinks with 0% sugar -- no sweet tooth here! They were delicious. Even with 0% sugar, they were mildly sweet in a not-overbearing way, and the boba had a great texture and chew to it. The perfect drinks for a beautiful day with 72°F weather! I'm knocking off one star because the drinks are always good, but nothing mind-blowingly amazing (it's more of a reliable old standby than a special treat like Boba Guys) and because it gets so busy that sometimes tables are left without being wiped down between customers, leaving you to clean up after the group before you. Always great boba and food! Love their food selection too!!! So much variety! Also a wonderful option with milk teas for those of us who are carb and sugar conscious because you can choose level of sweetness and toppings! So easy to customize your order! It was my second time at this location, but I had not been here in a couple of years. I got my usual, the roasted oolong milk tea with boba, 30% sugar and ice. My friend got the Signature (Ceylon) milk tea, which comes with boba and coffee jelly, 30% sugar and ice. I had requested less creamer in my drink because I remembered the last time I had ordered it, it was way too milky. I enjoy the flavor of tea. My drink was a bit sweet at first, but over time, it got less sweet from the melting ice. I was a little disappointed that the boba did not have much flavor, but the consistency of the boba was good. The Signature drink at 30% sugar was already too sweet for me. If you order this drink, I suggest that you order it with 0% sugar. I assume the sugar from the boba and coffee jelly give the drink enough sweetness. Overall, staff was patient with me while I had questions about the milk tea drink options. Drink was alright. Nothing too exciting, but not the worst I've had. I think that the key seller is the popcorn chicken here, but I did not try it. Gilbert, the manager, was super quick to respond to my issue and explained what happened. It seems that my broth might've been switched with another person's. I know their ramen is usually really good (especially for a place that specializes in tea) so it was a little bit disappointing but I know that it's a one off occasion. I found their ordering and pick up system to be great and thoughtful. It seems safe for both their customers and the workers. For those who are unaware, you have to order either by phone or online and wait for them to text you before you show up to the store to pick it up. There is no waiting around. i-Tea is really popular and for good reason-- it was the first good boba place in Castro Valley and their menu only continues to expand. It's always a safe choice to me even with the other new & upcoming places in CV. They have more snack options than other places and their drink menu is extremely expansive as well. Very COVID friendly with their app that has different categories and has pictures for everything on their menu. Their slushy drinks are always crushed to perfection. There's a lot of drinks to choose from, and they have happy hour starting 2 hours before close until closing. It gets really busy during HH (and in general) so expect to wait. For that very reason, I've stayed away. 1) I'm a coffee guy 2) I don't need to be where everyone else is, because I don't follow crowds and I don't enjoy wasting my time waiting got the regular tea boba drink. This is a late review. But I thought I would share. I think this location was closed temporarily as part of the SIP order. However, I think once they were able to get the store and online ordering system in place, they are now open! Thank you! Our family loves to support businesses whenever we can. Especially during this time. Last Thursday, we needed a boba run. So I tried their new online ordering system which I found through my IG feed and gave it a try. I'm usually timid about an online ordering system, but I figured, give it a shot. And you know it worked. Placed our order and waited for a text to let me know our order was ready. My husband and I were already in transit by the time I received the "your order is ready text" By the time we got there, parking was easy to find and there was 1 other customer ahead of me. They have the entrance to the store blocked with plastic shield and tables. The employee asked me for order verification and voila, order was already sitting at a table waiting for pick up. While waiting in line they even had a stanchion set up for online/phone order pick up. With the ground clearly marked/measured 6ft apart while you wait. Way to organize! Thank you to the staff here for always being efficient and for satisfying our boba craving! And most of all for being open! read more

However ordering online puts in your credit card info for you and so you don't have to slide your card in person. IMO calling is faster and easier. Once you get there you should just wait in line and tell them your phone number (only the last four digits) and then make your payment and if your drinks are ready they'll hand them to you. (The text msg they send when your drink is ready can get delayed a bit, as with all businesses right now in Covid) Creme brûlée milk tea is basically just regular black milk tea with what seems like custard swirled throughout the drink. The woman at the counter was impatient and an insulting. Locals should put their foot down and expect good service. Stop allowing this place ONLY to take phone orders. Mango Sago $5.50: OBSESSED with this drink since I first tried it in SF. Fresh mango chunks, clear sago, and semi puree(?) of mango "juice". Very refreshing and delicious! Popcorn chicken~$5-$6: pretty standard popcorn chicken with fried basil. Nothing to complain about Plum Ai-Yu: LOL funny story about this, my classmate got this and only drank a sip and stopped. It was NOTHING she expected. So to save future consumers of this product, its pretty similar to Li-Hing flavor (very sour-y/salty taste). This i-Tea is pretty amazing though, even if I haven't tried it, they have ramen, Gyu/Teryaki/Unagi Don, fish balls, rice noodle, etc. .:: Atmosphere/Service/Parking::. It was DEAD quiet when we went there on a Friday afternoon. And i thought, WOW, this is PERF for studying. My classmates and I were set on studying there. BUT, shortly after, a huge group of younger kids came and the line became endless and the place was LOUD. Maybe if you come before the kiddies come out from school, you can get work done?
