She led me through a few exercises to help me better identify my goals in life and most important values. This was helpful to some extent but I never felt very clear about next steps. Denises' strategy is to help people believe in themselves and find their own track rather than just telling them, or advising them on what to do next. On the one hand, I believe there is a lot of power in Denises' approach and ultimately people have to be responsible for themselves and whatever career choices they make. On the other hand, as a professional career coach, I expected a little more feedback on what some good options or next moves for me might be. In the end, I am still looking for mini-experiments, or "try-ons" to learn more about my options and could have used some more help with this. As an example, when I did the "homework" assignments, I didn't feel like the feedback and follow up on the assignments was specific enough for what I was expecting. Again, maybe my expectations were off and maybe it's more a matter of fit and with someone that has a more narrow focus and/or knows what they want, Denise could be a great option. For an admittedly indecisive person like myself, it maybe wasn't a perfect fit.
