Unsolicited Compliment:…read more Holy moly! I know a lot of people go online to complain but I wanted to take a minute to give credit where credit is due. Once my son's regular camp canceled for the summer... We scrambled and looked for some recommendations on social media. One of the places that was mentioned by several folks, was Big Chief Day Camp. They gave us a tour, they were informative, they told us about all of the things that they were doing with regard to safety before even being told to do so by the state. Most importantly, they welcomed my son with open arms. Camp started yesterday, and as you can imagine people are a little frazzled and no one knew what to expect. I have to tell you, the entire staff and administration that big chief did a phenomenal job. Led by Miss Luanne, everything ran like a well oiled machine for drop off, pick up, and drop off again this morning. If there were any issues, we certainly were unaware. Small ways to make things better, such as remembering to bring your own pens to sign the children in and out, or addressed immediately via email. I have to say, I am impressed. Most importantly: when I picked him up yesterday, my son had a huge smile on his face and told me how much fun he had. Isn't that why we do all of this? Hats off to Luanne and the staff at Big Chief for tackling something huge, with the best interest of the kids at heart. Well done.

This was the first time my son did not make a big fuss about going somewhere that's not near me…read more Before hand he went to 2 different daycares and he always threw tantrums because he didn't want to be there. Fortunately we did not have this problem with Big Chief. They were very kind and my son had a blast at camp. They provided lunch so taking my child in was very convenient. One thing I wish they did was send in pictures of the fun they were having as I'm sure it would have been beautiful memories. Otherwise 10/10.

They have plenty of different type of STEAM toys and games for the kids and the games were separated by sections. The VR station was fun. The only thing I did not like is that the STEAM toys were very common and I have most of them at home. Also, those toys were mainly for little kids (I would say kids below 6?)... the staff were friendly and patient. Overall it was a good experience there.

They are located on Newbridge Rd just before the on ramp to the SSP. Look quick or you can miss it. The front of the school is deceptive as it hides the large parcel of land and additional buildings that make up South Shore Country Day School and Camp. They have a ton of outdoor space with lots of beautiful trees for shade. They have 2 pools, sports fields, tennis court, playgrounds, vegetable gardens, rabbits, chicks, baby ducks and a full range of programs in music, arts, nature, sports, etc. Kids get a full day of activities and for the older kids attending camp there are also a ton of fun field trips. While the large amount of open space was the initial thing that set them apart from other camps and day schools, the staff of South Shore has blown me away with their friendliness, professionalism and enthusiasm for the kids! Within the first couple days it seemed like everyone knew my son by name and everyone was so welcoming to our whole family. I have 100% confidence that I am leaving my son with a staff of professionals who care and love him. Parents on my block have been sending their kids to South Shore for years and we are thrilled to be continuing the tradition. If you are looking for quality child care and/or camp in the Bellmore area then look no further. South Shore Country Day School and Camp will give your kids the time of their life!

I loved that the staff was right there, constantly cleaning up the extra bubbles and adding more soap to keep the fun going. The giant blue blocks section was so cool, too--the kids built a ton of different things and had a blast destroying them afterward! The old-school phones are always a fun classic, and they absolutely loved the animal section upstairs. It was a perfect day out for the family!

He had a really great time and talk about a 2 to 3 hour nap. He didn't fully understand everything, considering he is 16 months old, but he did have a fun time while he was there. There is an area for children his age so he can play around there, but I was able to have him run around and play everywhere else. He didn't care for the bubbles area, but absolutely loved the sand corner that they have. There is a little sandbox for the kids so that way toddlers can go and play it if they wanted to. He loved going up and down the stairs and playing in the block area as well. When I first went, I didn't use what the library offered. Which if you put in that you have a library card, you and a child can get in for free for the day. My husband did come with us when I made the day through the library, but considering he got the library card and showed them that he had it, he was able to pay half the price. Which was nine dollars for us. Otherwise it would have been $18. It was a great time for my son and we were there for almost 2 hours as he was running around the place. If you do want to go more often, I know they offer a family packages. I also know that you can get a two-year package and a one-year package. The basic one-year package is $200. Which if that is the only thing you can afford is totally worth it. Especially on days where it is too cold to stay outside or it is raining. I know the other packages offer more stuff, but they are a little bit more expensive. This place is great considering that they do have events each week. That is great for all different ages. This is a place. I will definitely be taking my son more and once I have more kids will be taking them there as well.
