I'm a passionate passion fruit advocate. I've taken it upon myself to spread word on this wonderful fruit as it's not really well known, especially here in Manila. In our province in South Cotabato, passion fruit season means seeing this round yellow fruits being sold by basketfuls at outrageously low prices (less than Php 10 even); and since I was a kid, I've welcomed this time with pure delight. I love the sour juice and the crunch of the seeds, as I slurp them with salt. If I'm feeling fancy, I scoop the meat, seeds, and juice into a pitcher, add sugar and water, and stir, for a refreshing cooler.
No wonder, then, that I gravitate toward this flavor whenever I see it being offered. (Hello, Ceres Passion Fruit Juice! Hello, Starbucks Passion Fruit x Mango! Hello, Kablon Farms Passion Fruit Jam!) And lo, and behold, the first flavor I saw in the i-Cup menu was Passion Fruit x Green Tea. That, I had to try!
And I didn't regret it. The tangy passion fruit flavor worked well with the distinct flavor of the green tea. I liked that the drink was not too sweet, unlike the usual artificially flavored iced tea. Also, at Php 65 for a large cup, it was not bad at all!
i-Cup offers several other types of tea, from jasmine to oolong to black, and other fruit or milk combinations. They have coffee, too! Drinks include frappes, milk teas, juices, iced teas, and smoothies. There's definitely something here for everyone. read more
