I didn't lose my card or damage it. It was sent defective, which I told them. The next representative then said, 29.95€ for a "replacement" card, so I sent back the defective card to prove it was their error.
Finally, finally received a new card on February 4, 2019. Activated it, tested it by making a small withdrawal at an ATM I usually use in Berlin. By the time I return home, I have an email saying ACCOUNT LOCKED, with no explanation. No prior warning, no problems on my account.
Extremely poor customer service in the first place about the card, each person saying something different. It literally seemed like some petty worker set up a trigger once the card was used, to then have the account locked. Literally one use of the new card triggered the account lock. This has caused several transaction fees when my automatic debits for health insurance, etc. were attempted. With no prior warning or notification, there was no opportunity to alert any vendor or institution.
Each time I called customer service the representative asked for some personal information then hung up in my face. Obviously this bank has extremely poor service and does not care about its customers. Germany isn't know for its good customer service anyway, especially if you are a foreign resident, but this was really abysmal and disrespectful, all with no reason whatsoever and no explanation given. Still waiting for them to send me the money I have in my account. Currently, its still being held hostage.
