The hotel is surrounded by farmland that stretches out for miles. The only bar/cafe available is a local run pub in the centre of Bannegon which is about a 15 minuet bike ride from the hotel. The only echoing sounds are those of the local swans which have chosen to nest in the old river that used to power the mill. The hotel really is beautifully kept with it's old style bedrooms and flourishing grounds with a refreshing swimming pool available to all guests.
The hotel also runs a small restaurant located in the main building. Guests usually get priority although word has spread about the eloquence of the food and locals have flocked to enjoy the fabulous cooking. The menu changed from season to season offering great dishes to suit the climate and harvest. Presentation is immaculate and the taste doesn't fall far behind, eating at this restaurant every night is a delight and far from repetitive. The local wine lists also leaves a pleasant reminder of the rose tinted view I have and will always have for this place and I will keep coming back for years to come.
In fact, I plan to visit in a weeks time since the venue has recently changed ownership and will then give an updated review of this hotel and restaurant, hopefully not far off this one! This place really is a hidden gem of France and even though it is a nightmare to find it's totally bliss when you get there.
