One of the clear benefits to staying in an "American" style hotel is this: air conditioning. You forget that one of the nice things about the US is the abundance of air conditioning in the summer - and when it's humid outside, I promise, you'll love it even more. The staff here are really friendly and helpful. The day crew all had good English skills. The night crowd, less fluent, but sufficient for most things. By the way, if you choose to have your laundry done here, have Stephanie hook you up. I had a few really old tortilla soup stains on a otherwise white hoodie and she got all of those out. Next time I'm on travel and staying here, I'm bringing every piece of stained white laundry for treatment (I'm not joking.). The hotel is located very centrally to a ton of shops and restaurants (as well as the Bourges Cathedral - worth a stop). It was really easy for me to walk around and get groceries, buy gifts for family and friends, and get in a really big variety of food. I found myself loving the meandering on the weekends too. The biggest downside is that the hotel has very, very limited parking in the garage and getting a spot isn't easy. For the most part, we parked outside during the week and just made sure we took off before the meter times kicked in. On the weekends, they could squeeze us into the garage usually. Other downsides: they don't have a real restaurant for lunch of dinner (they do however, serve a breakfast buffet); no fitness center (though I heard they are putting one in); and if you bring large pieces of luggage, you won't fit in the elevator (tiny elevators though, might be another European thing). It is an older building, but it's clearly been updated. Expect character that usually comes with a boutique hotel. I personally loved the high ceilings in my room and the details on the trim. The bathroom was nicely updated. One tree hugging plus: they do the big bottles of shampoo so you aren't tossing out a bottle of shampoo each day. Overall, a nice place. I will definitely come back and stay here again. Oh yes, and they have free wifi!

We pulled in at 10 pm and at check in the front desk told us they "gave away our room". Flabbergasted we left. Despite the fact that we booked ahead and gave credit card to hold the room, they give away all held reservations after 6:00pm. No stay.

You should bring your own lotion and conditioner. It has the dryer in a type which stuck on the wall so again, keep in mind if a good dryer is important to you. Internet is pretty good and there is one computer you can use for free in the lobby. Room has AC but can get cold in spring as the heater doesn't seem to work. Free parking but be careful with red light camera at the crossing next to the bridge from the hotel. You can get to the center of town in about 10 min on foot. Breakfast is good but only boiled egg is available for egg dish (you cook it per your preference). Some simple food is available 24 hours but those are microwaved with frozen food, so i won't recommend it.

Charming & Delicious The hotel is in an old convent that has been restored and renovated. They have done a fabulous job, mixing charm and all the comfort of a 4 star hotel. Our room was spacious and beds comfortable, the only downfall is that my window is not well sealed and you could feel a freshness in the room. It was fine for this time of season in early autumn. It might be an issue in the winter. Rooms and showers are large enough for light Handicap but no ramps in case of wheelchair. - secured parking The staff was very welcoming and I highly recommend you eat at their restaurant "Les petits Plats du Bourbon" which sits in the old Abbaye Saint-Ambroix. The culinary experience was very good and at very reasonable prices with the options of a 18 euros for lunch - 25 euros for dinner menu (entrée, plat, dessert) according to the season (reservations a must). Chefs du Cercle rated with 1 Michelin Star.

In fact the front desk said they offer nothing for Platinum level! We called Accor and they apologized up and down and committed to rectify (as they confirmed the front desk team was 100% in error).
