I've had experience with 3 dentists at 2 dental clinics in Finland…read more One clinic is Hammaslääkärikeskus Denta in Helsinki (www.denta.fi). And the other is PlusTerveys Siltapuisto in Lahti (http://www.plusterveys.fi/siltapuisto). Overall I can rate the outcome after receiving work from 3 Finnish dentists as disastrous. In every singe instance I had to redo or replace what was done. I should say that I do not contend that the skills per say of all 3 dentists I dealt with were low. What I state however is that with all 3 dentists I saw indifference and ignorance, bad judgement and sloppy work. And the result speaks for itself - all work of these dentists failed. Dentist: Siirila Tero at Hammaslääkärikeskus Denta. 03/2011. I requested this dentist to put a gold inlay on a molar. The tooth was vital, and I wanted to keep the tooth vital. He did what I requested. The result was a very large gold inlay (3.5 gram) that was sitting too close to the nerve chamber. Since gold conducts heat well, the nerve was constantly irritated by temperature changes. Within a few months the nerve became inflamed and I had to have a root canal. This dentist should have understood in such particular situation that the size and the depth of the cavity would preclude gold with its high thermal conductivity as a restoration material. He told during cavity preparation that he was able to see the nerve, yet this dentist was unconcerned. He didn't make any suggestions (in terms of material or way of restoration), he just made molds, ordered gold inlay and installed it. Dentist: Linden Robin at Hammaslääkärikeskus Denta. 08/2012. I requested this dentist to put a gold crown on a molar. This was the same molar that I previously had gold inlay on. The tooth now had a root canal treatment and was restored with composite. I told to this doctor that I wanted gold crown because only minimal amount of tooth structure around would be required to be removed with preparation. He agreed with my logic. Tooth was prepared, molds made, crown ordered. One thing stands out with this dentist. His approch to setting in the crown was very odd, to say the least. Shortly after this doctor installed the crown, he started to grind vigorously spots on the chewing surface of the crown. My head was vibrating at times, sparks were flying off the crown. And this was right after the crown was put on, whereas the setting process (bonding of gold crown to tooth) demands minimal disturbance to the crowned tooth for many hours. Many months later I continue to have some uneasy sensation of dull pain, similar to what it was like when the nerve was dying (to a lesser degree though). I think the setting process was violated by the harsh grinding.
