The 7 whirlpools overlooking the beach were awesome, but they are in 100% sun.

We stayed on the first floor and had our own mini pool right outside the room, which was super convenient since all the entertainment, activities, and amenities were nearby. The resort had a fun atmosphere with live entertainment every night. We watched traditional Mexican dancers at the outdoor amphitheater, did archery, and even went to a glow-in-the-dark party. Even though my trip was only 2 1/2 days, it ended up being such a fun and memorable quick getaway that I'd definitely come back again. The service was great from the room service staff to the entertainment team. The lobby is beautiful, and the food was honestly delicious. The buffet had so many options like breakfast burritos, made-to-order omelets, hash browns, churros, sweet plantains, plus a smoothie and juice bar. The cocktails were also really good and surprisingly didn't leave me with a hangover. I really also enjoyed the sushi restaurant Sunan( the sushi chicken bites and the ribs were delicious). The La Luce Italian restaurant had a great octopus carpaccio. Those who don't eat octopus really enjoy the thinly slice appetizer and the veggie lasagna was to die for you did not need any meat. The hotel is about 16-17 minutes from the airport, though it takes around 10 minutes just to drive from the entrance to the main hotel area. We rented a car, which was cheaper overall, but keep in mind there are a lot of checkpoints around Cancun.

But nobody's yum is a hotel with no hot water or water pressure. Can I say that again? ZERO hot water. You cannot wash your hair with the amount of water pressure the cold showers have. Maybe that's why they didn't bother to provide wash cloths. One towel per double bed. That's all. We stayed here one night bc our flight was canceled and this is where the airline sent us. If I hadn't been exhausted by a day of delays and no information, I might have looked it up before staying here but I did not. The beds were ok. Small. The AC was not on when we got there. We were given a remote to turn it on. The rooms were stuffy. They eventually got to bearable. There was music playing somewhere nearby. We were able to fall asleep, but I'm sure many people would find it unbearable. We were woken up at 6:45 am by loud voices in the hall way. BC everything is tile, there is nothing to soak up noise. It is loud. Oh, that tile? It hurts. You won't want to walk in this room without shoes. It also makes it tricky to use a roller bag. The elevator is tiny. This hotel must be super cheap, but you want warm water.

But, 2 weeks since my return I am still angry. I paid the up charge for the exclusive service and adult only pool and beach area. They have one, but nobody actually polices that, so basically everybody can go anywhere they want and they do!!! The pool was nasty dirty, didn't see anybody ever cleaning it but once all week. There were cups, straws, leaves, dirty band-aids, etc etc We also paid for Ocean Front room, there isn't such a room. All the rooms that they call Ocean Front are at best ocean view, and the room they tried to put us in initial didn't even have a view, we where on 3rd floor and our view was of a pool bar roof top. We finally got a room that far far away in the distance you could see the ocean, and it was on 6th floor. There was one very small elevator for that entire building, and the room services, maids etc all use the elevator during the day so you need to use the stairs or wait 15 minutes. It's ridicules that they don't a service elevator like any even 2 star hotel would have, even the staff was embarrassed about it. Obviously, it's not their fault. Even though we were in the butler exclusive area we carried our own bags out even after I called for help, and when we stopped at the concierge desk to check out they still didn't offer to help get our bags all the way to the main lobby. The "special" lobby for exclusive service is out of the way and doesn't take you outside. I tried to get a medium grade shot of tequila, and was told no, even though I paid for the premium service. And they had a full bottle on the bar of what I had just asked for, seriously it was insulting. The servers don't know who is exclusive and who isn't, because they don't give you anything to identify who you are. So don't bother paying for the upgrade because this place won't make a difference. I've stayed in lots of resorts around the world and always get the upgraded service, I've only had issues once before and it was also an Excellence resort. The food was not great, and the lay out of the resort is just stupid! They had great shows in the evenings, but it was impossible to watch them, because they were in this auditorium nowhere near any breeze, at all. It was stifling hot!

We didn't make a big deal as we were in a hurry to get our flight at 5am. But then I got riped off by the attendant.. We asked if he could help us get a taxi to the airport and how much it would cost. he said that he could but it would cost me 350MXN and we innocently agreed. Later on I found out that a regular taxi would cost me only 100 to 150 pesos. The taxi driver had gone back to the hotel when he picked us up, so of course the attendant got a portion of the huge ripoff we got. The apartment itself is mediocre. Luckily it is an apartment behind a strong door that requires another key to enter the main "lobby". The apartment has a dead bolt and each room has its own key as well, I'm not sure if you can rent a room by itself or if you must rent the entire apartment. Either way, it was cheap and a nice place to rest after the end of a long day. Complete with a mini refrigerator, stove, and television in the main bedroom as well as the living space, it wasn't too shabby. The shower was probably the most painful thing I've ever encountered, it felt like sharp daggers stabbing my bare behind, so that was unpleasant. And the neighbors were hooligans, pounding on our door every night at 4 in the morning. A church is kiddie corner, summoning people to repentance or something because it's bells were constantly chiming. A few outside dogs who LOVED to bark at nothing really added to the ambiance of the entire night. Ear plugs will definitely become your best friend when you rent on Air BnB. Overall, the venue was fine. I liked how close it was to a bus stop, Walmart, and a few restaurants. It's right in the middle of the city of Cancun, giving it a great central location. Again, the host was great. He gets right back to you, answers all of your texts/emails/phone calls and goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay the night, this wouldn't be a bad choice. TIPS & TRICKS: * Use the water in the main lobby to fill your water bottles, DON'T DRINK THE WATER IN MEXICO. * Walmart, McDonald's, and Dominos are all within walking distance. If you're sick of tacos for every meal of the day, don't hesitate to check out a good ol' American business. *Buses run constantly, the one that will take you to the hotels and beach strip is R2. Just hop on, pay your driver 12 pesos per passenger, doesn't matter how far your ride the fare is all the same, and hop off when you find a place that seems worth checking out.
