Let me start off this review by saying that I should have posted this a while ago. This all took…read moreplace exactly a year ago. I was attempting to enroll in the Human Resources program and man, saying it was a mess is beyond an understatement. Right from the get go communication and organization was a huge issue. Even before I filled out the application I told them my struggles with learning and that I needed an in person class. I was told they would "Figure it out" and they had really great tutors that would be more than happy to assist me. As soon as I gave them my email and phone number I started receiving confusing messages and emails. Every time I called to ask them about it (if I managed to get through) I was told it was a glitch and to ignore them. A few days later I was "enrolled" and began their strange enrollment process. This was a really glitchy welcome video with a multiple choice quiz at the end, not even anything to do with being tested on my academic levels or anything (I never was tested on them) When it came to ordering books I struggled with everything. I tried to have Vicki (The "Librarian") assist me and I was met with eye rolling and attitude. I did manage to order the book but it was a process. Eventually I came to the realization that I needed to speak to a higher up for help. I wound up talking to Ginger via telephone. WHO DOESN'T EVEN LIVE IN MAINE! This is when they dropped the bomb on me. I'll try to sum it up, so basically after I told her about my difficulties and issues with the whole process I was told they didn't really have many (if any) tutors to help me as they had a hard time finding people, the class was 100% online, she didn't think I could handle the school and so on and so on. After we got off the phone I received an email exactly 8 minutes later stating I was dis-enrolled and to try again later. I quickly raced in the next day to cancel my book order, which was way easier than ordering it. So after all of this, I will not be re-applying and I will never recommend this joke of a "University" to anyone. Very disorganized, unprofessional and fake. Also they are for profit and profit only, they could care less if you succeed or not as long as you're lining their pockets.

Just one story with three galleries, a small garden, and arts classroom. We arrived in the morning and were the only ones there... Taking in the art at our leisure. A few well known artists: Chagall, Calder, Manet, and many I've never seen but am so glad to become acquainted with now! Gentleman at the front desk was friendly & helpful. Admission is FREE. You can't beat that value.

Being the largest state school in Maine, a lot can be expected from your time enrolled here and…read moreoverall it is largely a positive experience. That is if you take advantage of all the school has to offer and you get out there and be involved on campus. A decent sized campus with around 10,000 students and increasing every year. I recommend to live on campus at least one year if you plan on coming here as it is one of the best ways to meet and make friends. Some Pros of University of Maine -Majors ranging from Engineering(school is known for this), Liberal Arts and Sciences, Natural Sciences and Forestry, to Education and Human Development. -Lots of organizations to join ranging from many different interests with ease of finding others and creating your own if there is not already one. -Sporting events and other events put on by campus or student organizations such as Fraternities or Sororities are happening all the time. -Some of the services the school offers such as the Career Center (helps you build resumes, find internships and jobs), counseling services (someone to talk to), and the Recreation Center (great facility with lots of workout equipment and pool area available to the students with some classes offered for free) to name a few. -The need for a car is not necessary as campus is small enough for walking being manageable. As well as their being free public transportation around Orono and Bangor available to students and likely you'll have friends with vehicles. So don't stress about a car if its not doable. -Partying, while your reason for being in school is academics, there will be down time and you will likely experience parties at some point. If you seek parties you can find them here. Some Cons of University of Maine -Some buildings and classrooms are old and could use some repairs or remodeling. The oldness is cool from a historical point, but functionality is lacking from age in some rooms. -Some professors have overstayed their welcome and are still around because they have tenure. Some even talk about it in their classes smugly. Some departments could bring some new life in by releasing older teachers and getting fresh faces in. -The advisory program where you get an adviser from your school to help you through your four years is largely hit or miss on being a success. Some people get advisers that get to know them and help them from day 1 and past graduation. While others get an adviser where the only interaction is a forced one where they must email them for an enrollment code every semester. Many professors are not enthusiastic about being an adviser and focus on their own stuff. -Dining halls overall are not a huge con since there are three dining halls included in the meal plan options along with a pay for what you want fourth place as well. It is nice having the difference in options these four places present, but the quality of food is what makes it a con. Sure its gonna taste great for the first few weeks and you'll love being able to have pizza and ice cream or a burger every meal but it gets old fast. Overall this is a great school that gives a good education and is worth looking into to further your education.

Northeast Technical Institute in Bangor ripped me off…read more I met with the admissions officer (Chad Leonard) to see about me taking a heatpump course. I made it understood that my employer would be paying for me to take the class. He said that was fine, and then took my employer contact information. I have several years of installation and refrigeration repair experience. But I was interested in learning about the electronics (the pcb/motherboard and ohming out components). At that time, we decided that it would be best for me to meet the instructor at the very beginning of the first class to see if it would be a useful class for me. When that first day of class began, I had a good conversation with the instructor. We decided that the class was for beginners and that I wouldn't gain much from it. I thanked everyone at the Institute and went home. Flash forward a couple of months, and I receive a notice from a bill collector that I owe them $160 for my account balance at Northeast Technical Institute. Don't ask me why the bill collector came after me instead of NTI. So I phoned NTI and asked them what this was all about. They said that I owed $60 for enrolling and $100 for withdrawing from the class. Firstly, I was not informed that I was actually either enrolling or withdrawing. Secondly, and more importantly, they never told me that I or my employer would be billed for these things. And nowhere on NTI's webpage does it say anything about these things.

The instructor was amazing. I have no medical background so ,walking into a new career choice he made learning easy and the class was fun.Will definetly recommend to any one looking to furthur their career
