WOW Davis is a true artist. My daughter and I went for our tattoos. He was quick to respond to my Yelp message and was able to fit us in before my daughter went back to college. He did a great job rendering the images we sent. Did research to get the flowers exactly right. He is so friendly and we enjoyed talking while he worked. i usually never write reviews but Davis was amazing!! it was my first tattoo and i was incredibly nervous for a needle to get that close to my skin. his work is beautiful and so is his heart! literally 5 minutes into the tattoo i almost fainted lol, but he was so kind helping me feeling comfortable and not nauseated, plus i ended up finishing the tattoo! yay Davis gives you all the information you need, especially when you just ask. as soon as i reached out i got a quick response. pricing was great for my budget and was very well worth it! he runs his shop alone and i can see why, his art is gorgeous!! thank you so much!! read more

I messaged Dave on Yelp to get an estimate of the cost and availability for the day. He responded quickly and was able to answer any questions I had. To book an appointment, you'll need to deposit $200 via Zelle (that deposit will also go towards your tattoo). If your tattoo exceeds $200, they take cash only. He'll also message you what to expect when you arrive and aftercare solutions. There is a small parking lot in front of his shop and once I walked in, he was very welcoming and nice. I signed the waiver and showed him my ID and he showed me the design that I wanted and asked if there were any tweaks needed. The studio was very clean and open. He was very friendly and I enjoyed having conversations with him. As this was my first tattoo, I was nervous, but he made it very seamless and talked throughout my experience, which helped me get my mind off of the tattoo. Once done, he talked through the aftercare and answered more questions I had. I'd come back again for my 2nd tattoo and recommend friends/families here. If you are looking for someone who takes their work seriously and professionally- go see Davis. Davis' passion for art started very young in his teens, so I get the vibe he loves what he does. My best-friend and I wanted a matching tattoo and he was very responsive with questions/concerns we had about the lotus design. My struggle was placement, so Davis guided me in the right direction. I ended it getting it by my hip bone, but he made the lotus slanted which looked 1000x better than I expected because it flows nicely where the underwear sits. He was SUPER gentle- the pressure was very light. As a Registered Dental Hygienist myself, I can confirm: Davis' studio is extremely clean. Loved my first experience getting a cover up tattoo by Davis!! Davis was super professional and accommodating of all my ideas and what I liked and took his time to design me the perfect custom design that was way better than what I originally imagined. To me choosing a tattoo artist is like choosing a partner or hairstylist. I did a lot of research before jumping into this place. Davis is what sold me based on his quality from the photos and falls in line with the kind of art I'm into. When coming in to this establishment he has a very good bed side manner. Very polite and well spoken. He is very approachable and will walk you through it with how you want your tattoo. Place is very clean and nice ambient/decor. Great work! Davis has a very relaxing energy, he made the experience fun (I almost forgot I was being furiously poked by a needle at a rapid pace). Thank you Davis for my head tattoo! The process was simple; you contact him what you want and then he explains everything required before your visit. You send as many reference photos as you need, make a deposit, and then from there he secures your appointment day. What I find interesting is that he incorporates all the reference photos you give him and combines them together to the image you have in mind. During the design, he was doing a few edits here and there on the computer to have it to exactly how you want your tattoo to look like on a piece of paper. He managed to free-hand a part of my design to have it fit perfectly on my head which was astonishing. The outcome was exactly how I wanted it to be. I had a lot of confidence during my session because he knows what he's doing, I wasn't worried at all. Dave put in a lot of work to make me satisfied and it truly shows how much compassion he puts into his work. I'll feel confident the next time I work with him in the future. read more

Amazing experience! Davis was very responsive and got me in the very same week! I had messaged him on Wednesday and sent my deposit to get an appointment Friday. Through those days, he was very active in telling me what to expect and collaborating with me on the design. When I got there we talked about the design while he got to work on the stencil. He had asked me multiple times if I wanted anything to drink and even offered to get me lunch! Super friendly guy! The stencil took about 45-60 minutes in total. Before we started he showed me the stencil and sized it. He made sure it was what I wanted and even gave some advice on the design without overstepping. He placed the stencil and made me look at it one more time before starting. The tattoo took about 1.5 hours. He really took his time and made sure everything came out perfectly! He only takes one client per day to ensure that he takes his time and does a good job! I will definitely come back if I plan on getting another tattoo! read more

I hope you know he has no morals and only cares about the money! I was excited to get my first tattoo when I turned 18 and was even coming back here since some of my family got a tattoo here. Unfortunately, after paying a $200 deposit I was told some restrictions about aftercare which I would not be able to uphold so I immediately and politely requested for a refund of my deposit. It would have been nice and the proper thing to know all of the information about this service before the deposit. At the time, I thought I knew everything about this service, but after the deposit, aftercare information was then given, as I stated. After I first asked, I fell sick with RSV and other infections, not allowing me to immediately respond. When bringing up this issue again, Davis was uncooperative and dismissive in his replies and tried to walk back the restrictions like it was not a big deal even though it was in his list of aftercare restrictions. He then blamed me, the customer who told him this was my first tattoo since I am freshly 18. There is no FAQ on his website to show aftercare instructions because those instructions were "too overwhelming" so I guess he thinks his customers aren't very bright. If he's worried about being overwhelming, maybe he should return their deposit, when asked immediately after it was paid, due to circumstances he created by withholding information. Anyways, if you guys know any better tattoo artists who are ethical (see other one star reviews) and give all information upfront please let me know! read more

My best friend and I decided to get matching tattoos before she moved away to the east coast. This was a special way for us to celebrate our quarter century friendship and our new decade and chapter in life. We decided on Davis as our artist after consultation about thickness, size, and placement of the lotus we wanted. Davis listened to what we had planned to do, and gave us good feedback with his own professional opinion about color and placement that we didn't think about. I had a small keloid scar that I wanted the artwork to cover and he did a great job doing it. The shop looks small from the outside, but once inside you will see how spacious and clean everything is. I was searching on and off for a couple of years and couldn't find an artist who was willing to do the cover-up since my previous tattoo was pretty bold/dark. Finally came across Davis and decided to reach out since his designs were very close to what I wanted. He took the time to figure out the design with me during the day of the appointment, and we got the outline done on the first session. SUPER fast as it took only about an hour for the outline. After it healed, I went back for the shading session. Took 2 sessions to get everything shaded. I am SOOOOOO glad I decided to get my cover-up with him. Everything turned out PERFECT. Found this spot and scheduled an consultation with Davis. So happy to had decided to work with Davis, he was very creative and thoughtful with his design on my cover-up. He had worked around with the coloring and improved features that needed improvement, like the butterflies. Amazing job and definitely would recommend this spot and Davis. I had a cover-up done by an artist at the Tattoo Expo in San Francisco. The cover-up of what was originally a red heart with Ex name. Wasn't impressed. Got my first tattoo today and it is absolutely amazing!!! Davis is definitely your go-to person for your tattoos (whether first or more). He takes the time to get to know you, to understand your design, and he's very patient in walking through changes and iterations with you. He's a great artist as you can probably tell by his works. His sketches are on point and his actual tattoos looked even better than what I was imagining (and I had a pretty high bar for my first one). I was super impressed how he took my original concept and sketched out the waves that was exactly what I was hoping for (asked for something edgier) vs the original logo I had found. I also really appreciate how Davis takes such great safety precautions as well during this time of COVID. He requires you to get a COVID test, he maintains his shop in a great condition. When you walk in you can tell right away that this is a safe and clean environment. I will definitely come back if I decide to ever get another tattoo. read more

I saw Dave for my first big piece and I'm glad that I went to him!! Only one session down and I'm already OBSESSED! David's response rate is very prompt, I hit him up on IG and he was very good at answering each question I had. His shop is super clean and is COVID-19 Compliant (screening questions asked), he gears up in PPE, so it's comfortable for those reluctant to go back into tattoo shops. I like how he showed me the needle he was going to use and even showed me the expiration date of the needle. Work space / chair is cleaned with Super Sani-Cloth Germicide. (Which is what us nurses use in the hospital). He collaborates with you on the design and makes sure it's EXACTLY what you want! He really takes his time drawing the piece you want and makes sure it's perfectly "stamped" on you before he starts. If you are looking for a fine lining tattoo artist in the Bay Area, I recommend Dave! He's super chill, good conversation, and great customer service! Can't wait for session 2 read more

Dave runs the whole operation and he's very professional, down to earth, and courteous. His shops spacious, clean, and very personalized. Dave was able to schedule an appointment three weeks after reaching out to him. I wanted a not-so aggressive snake and tiger and Dave nailed it. He asked for my opinions on backgrounds, style, piece references and shading before and while he was drawing up a design. He also has many reference artwork if you can't find any you like so he'll definitely have some ideas for you if you're coming up blank. Made a deposit with them to schedule a tattoo while I was in the Bay Area. They could not squeeze me in unfortunately, and we tried to make something work, but we ended up never making a set appointment. All I did was simply talk to them, never physically took their time, nor did I make an appointment then no call no showed. After I left SJ, I very respectfully asked if I could have my money back, since I never even step foot in the establishment, or like I said, no call no showed. The deposit was $100, and I lost it for no good reason. I am just a 22 year old, essentially still a kid, and they could not give me a good reason other than it was their policy. Each of the artists probably make double what I make a year if not more. It's just straight greedy at that point. Also, I could bet that if any of their friends made an appointment with them there would be no deposit, or their friends could get their money back no issue. I wanted to go off on the dude for not giving me my money back, but I just kept it cordial. What I think a better solution is, is to recommend the BEST tattoo shop in San Jose - possibly the whole Bay Area, and that is Cruz Creations. Book with Ariel. He is the man! P.S. Never said 9 AM and even offered extra to pay. I would never want to give anyone in this line of work a hard time. Might I mention, very respectful. read more

I came here to get a tattoo in memory of my mom. Davis heard what I wanted and got on the computer to make the design come to life. Once everything was agreed on Davis went to work. Davis is a very professional artist who engages with his clients. His mastery of his craft shows in his final work. His shop is really clean got a big screen TV so you can watch as the ink goes flying. There snacks available for free in case your nerves got the best of you and you don't have an appetite. I don't have that issue but you should eat something before getting inked. My tattoo was done in 2 hours and came out perfectly. I definitely plan on coming back to get more work done. Texted them this morning to cancel an appointment that I had for my wife she was diagnosed with leukemia (cancer) So unfortunately she get any tattoos right now do to treatment I just got a text back saying his father went threw the same thing and I couldn't get my deposit back under no circumstances like really you went threw the same thing with your father you know how hard it is and didn't have a little heart in you to return the deposit I understand stand if it was for another reason but for cancer but I hope my deposit is worth something be careful don't jack by someone that don't have a heart! read more

I had such a great experience getting tattooed by Dave! He was very friendly and did not make me nervous at all getting my first tattoo by myself. I got a small design on my inner bicep and the whole procedure took about 30 min including prep. Tiffany was very nice and patient. She made sure that I had all of the answers before proceeding with the tattooing. It's about an inch tattoo on my arm, so it only took like 15min. The pain was manageable without any numbing cream. It was more intense when tattooing over some scars. I followed Tiffany's instructions on after care and everything went smoothly. My first visit was for a partial cover-up that transitioned into a tribal tattoo. I researched very carefully because I was intentionally seeking women tattoo artists who specialize in tribal work. The story I'm telling through my tattoos matters deeply to me, and respect for symbolism is essential. That search led me to Mel. After seeing her work, I booked a consultation--and she more than lived up to her reputation. In fact, she exceeded my expectations so much that I returned to have the tattoo extended straight down my spine (which is AWESOME!!!) My long-term project is to have women tattoo artists visually gift my life story in Polynesian and Filipino tribal styles across the entire right side of my body. While I also proudly wear tattoos by male artists on the other side--chosen just as intentionally--I want this side to honor women artists who truly understand and respect tribal symbolism. Mel is absolutely among the best. A few weeks ago, I returned during Humble Beginnings' Black Friday flash sale and got a rose tattoo on my arm--this time by Kim.
