i "accidentally" dropped a few mangas from a shelf and the old grumpy guy working there (maybe he…read moreowns there i dunno) got triggered in miliseconds and gave me this blood freezing look, this is perfectly normal until this point, this is a comic store anyway, i'm used to weird and triggered comic store owners, visited lots of them around the world and it's exactly the same everywhere. whatever, i apologized "in german" and kneeled down to get them, when i stood up, he was already showing me a damaged corner of a thin manga with a very sturdy hard cover, i was shocked since there was no way that damage could've happened with a gentle fall, it was literally torn. i don't want to judge but i felt kinda scammed because i'm not even sure if it was one of the ones dropped to the floor (cause i took them off the ground) i asked "did it just happen?" and he replied "yes". my wife asked if we should pay for it and after a moment of silence, he got this look "as if he forgave us for all the sins" and replied "no but he should at least say he's sorry", i told him i already did, "even in german" i added. "no he didn't" he said, still strangely ignoring me and talking to my wife. "yes he did" my wife interrupted. after this he did not reply and gave us this silent treatment, we felt irritated and just put down the 40€ "one piece" action figure (which you can find online for 25€ btw) we were about to buy, clearly stated that we do so because of this strange attitude and we left the store. it was the most annoying experience i've ever had in a comic store. this guy "has to" be aware of the fact that not all of the customers are 20 year old green haired teenagers in cosplay he throws this attitude at on a daily basis. i'm an adult and i won't give my hard earned cash to an old grumpy man who doesn't know how to communicate with a customer. now thinking of it all, i felt kinda sad for the guy, maybe he was having a bad day because the first moment i got in the store, i felt something was wrong with him. he was acting like he hates his job while putting everything the cosplay kids there picked up to where they belong. but frankly, i freaking don't care if he is. because nevertheless, it's totally unprofessional. the other employee (young woman) was very kind and helpful tho.

if you are looking for english books this is your place!…read more you can also start reading in there because they have an armchair (or more). especially before the holidays this place is overcrowded! i didn't speak to the workers but i guess if they work in a book store they must be nice? i think thalia in general could have better books but that's just me. it's definitely the best bookstore in hamburg :)

Customers she treats like little school kids. In customer and service friendly America she would have been fired on the spot. I also recommend reminding your customers kindly at least once ahead of time of your closing times. Do not patronize your customers. We are the most valuable asset you have.

The…read morebookstore makes a focus on art, design and photography books, which range from pocket readers to coffee table editions. The amount of inspiring material in this large bookshop is close to unbelievable; rows and rows, shelves and shelves of books about anything and everything having to do with both historical and modern visual culture. Graphic designers will find their entire bookshelf toolkit here - with books ranging from typography to layouts, corporate identity to portfolios. Illustrators will find hard to find artist portfolios and illustration compilations from all over the world. Photographers will find books ranging from portfolios to mastering the digital darkroom, history of photography to books on every stream of photographic art. Sautter + Lackmann is easily a place to lose yourself in, so make sure you have at least an hour of your free time. They close on weekdays at 19:00, don't take credit cards, and accept EC for purchases over 15eu. Trust me, this is for your own good. If they would have accepted credit cards, I'd have to take up a job there to repay the debt.
