BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SIGN. David Huguenin's office failed to make final call to Columbia County tax office to determine fine for breaking a land covenant which gave us a tax break because we owned goats. (Columbia County tax office has confirmed this). Now, I am responsible for the mistake of David Huguenin's staff. A week after closing, Columbia County sent bill stating the and Hueguenin says it's mine to pay because I signed a paper at closing saying I would pay any bills that came in after closing. In other words a paper that covers his mistakes. NORMALLY, if something is not on the table at the closing it is not part of the deal...but I signed away my rights and now I am responsible for the mistake of his office. read more

Previously I have dealt with this company over six times. Very quick and professional. I called today to ask for assistance on a class action that I had really no relation to. They were courteous and some research for me. After looking into it they recommended a plan of action that was cost friendly to me and the way to go. I did this all on the phone. Timely Note: They are doing a great job at preventative measures. Buyers and sellers arrive separately, interaction and business occurs at a distance, and they give everyone a brand new pen to use. Sometimes you just have to take a plunge. Sure, your world (and the actual world) may feel chaotic, but when there's an amazing house at a great price you just go with your gut. And after all of the inspections and appraisal and back & forth, the day comes where you prepare for cramped fingers because you will be signing quite a bit of paperwork. Thus I found myself at this office. First let me mention that I have passed the building often, but due to no obvious interest I have never noticed it before. It is sharp. I often don't comment on the exterior of a place (especially in regards to F&B) because looks can be so deceiving. But I am signing away a serious amount of money here, I want this place to look professional! And it did. The team here is friendly, knowledgeable, and thankfully skilled at explaining the legal jargon in everyday terms. When you are agreeing to decades of your life and leave feeling respected, not taken advantage of that says something. I would not hesitate to do business with them again. So if the opportunity comes your way, I highly recommend this office. read more

I just recently closed on some property. The law offices of David L Huguenin was recommended by the real estate agent. I am glad they were. It couldn't have gone any smoother. Everything was spot on. They were so good that I think when I get ready to sale my house, I am going to sell it myself and just let the attorney's office handle it all themselves. Very professional..friendly. And WOW at the closing's they had lined up before and after mine... Like a well oiled machine... Thanks for making it quick and painless.... except now I have to pay for the house...:( read more

I closed on a house in October 2018 and paid my taxes at closing. But Huguenin's office made a mistake and sent my taxes back to me INSTEAD of the mortgage company! I did receive a check but didn't think much about it has I had pain ALOT for a REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY to handle this matter. And then I was slammed with a huge payment from the mortgage company which I wasn't expecting. And when I called the office, the women I spoke to admitted they had made a mistake and was extremely RUDE. Almost $10,000 (yes I could not shorten it to $10k because it's that serious) of errors caught by me. And still waiting on a $100 refund because a clerk or paralegal told me that my agent made a mistake. So... no not a good 1st home buying experience. read more

This had to be the worst experience I have had at a closing. At the beginning of the process we were all greeted with a hand shake and introduction. After a few words, the process begins. Paperwork started to be reviewed and signatures on papers. The first dispute was a charge to be removed. If that charge was to be removed then the closing cost would change. Which I couldn't understand because the closing cost was in the initial contract before Huguenin office was even chosen. I just couldn't understand what their (Huguenin) fees had to do with the down payment between the seller and the buyer. However Clinton M. Shearouse was very rude and arrogant when it was time for him to explain it. Let's just say that I was told, " I'm not going to waste my time over $4.50". Wrong answer you should waste your time on whatever amount and whatever it takes to keep "You" in business. 2nd issue: On the contract there were TWO lots on there. Clinton was trying to speed through the process, but thankfully by the grace of Jesus we caught an error with there only being ONE lot on there. Clinton was so defensive and getting snappy with the Relator, saying " so you saying it's my fault"? Uh yea, because you were given the contract with two lots on it. When you ran the title and did the paperwork, it was stated that two lots were purchased at one time and there is only one deed for both. So yeah someone in this office dropped the ball some where. Clinton then says,"well there is nothing I can do about it today, we can meet up later next week to close the deal". Really! People have driven hours to close this deal and just like that he had no remorse or emphathy nor an apology. The only reason the deal was closed was because the Relator went out and spoke with someone else who was caring enough to correct the problem. Clinton wanted to accuse "US" instead of him being a customer advocate. Once the problem was corrected, he barely wanted to finish talking about the closing procedures and paperwork. He wanted to talk about sports, high school, and other events with the other Relator. He didn't shake either one of our hands at closing, he stated, " alright we are done" and walked out. Really! So not the guy you would want to work with if you choose that office. It doesn't matter about "Price" when you are treated with dignity and respect. I was told that the office wanted to speak with me and to give them a call. I did and let's just say, nothing still has been said or done. read more
