We felt we were engaging a high-end real estate agency that could best promote our home. In May, we did get an accepted offer on the house but way under asking. Susan was not able to get the buyers to come up much at all on their price. Very soon after, we returned to our home to find that some furniture had been taken--a completely made king sized bed (pillows, mattress, blanket, etc) along with some distinctive children's furniture. No valuables (a new TV or other electronics) were taken. No locks were damaged or windows broken--someone had walked right in. We think the furniture was taken by a real estate agent to stage another house. When we spoke to our housekeeper, she told us that Susan has regularly left the house unlocked. When we checked the pool house, we found the key sitting in the lock. The house was then going into contract so we asked to Susan forgo a token amount of money from her hefty commission to cover the cost of the missing bed--the children's furniture was one-of-a-kind pieces and can't be replaced. But instead she had her manager--Katherine Jennings--send us a threatening letter saying that Susan could tell the buyers to back out of the deal unless we signed giving her the full commission. A direct quote from her email: "the buyers will walk away from the sale should the contract not be signed today." So the real estate agency we had hired to represent us not only left our home unprotected but were threatening to tank the deal altogether unless we agreed to the sale. If you decide to contract with the Millbrook office of Houlihan Lawrence to sell your home, you cannot be sure you are leaving your house in safe hands nor can you be sure they are working on your behalf. Selling your house is an emotional as well as a financial decision. I regret that we allowed ourselves to be wowed by the Houlihan Lawrence name and fancy website. Our final interactions with Katherine and Susan have left us angry and sad. Our final memories of being in our home will be of having our children's furniture taken and then being threatened by the real estate agents that were supposed to be representing us. Now, the only recourse I have are online reviews in the hopes that others will be able to avoid finding themselves in our situation.

While we were out running errands during the day, she still had keys to the apartment as she was trying to show the apartment to other potential tenants and actually came in without notifying us prior to entering. She notified me after she and the potential tenant had entered and walked through the apartment a few hours later. Later that afternoon, my husband came back to the apartment to notice that all closets and cupboards were opened, the patio door was not locked, and his duffle bag was picked through, and his electric razor and cologne were no where to be found, etc. So I called her right away to ask her where the missing items are, and why was my husband's duffle bag picked through, she refused to answer me and explain how and why this incident happened during her watch. She denied that she had anything to do with this, and that she and the potential tenant did not steal anything, no one else has access to the property except us and her. My husband was there for almost a whole week and nothing went missing or was stolen until the same day she entered into the property without letting us know in advance. I told her or her potential tenant to kindly return our belongings and that I will not file a theft report with the police, but she did not respond, which makes me not trust her anymore like I did when she helped us in the beginning. I specifically asked her to tell me who stole our belongings since she says it wasn't her, then I told her it must be the potential tenant, since they were the only 2 people in the apartment and she's the only other person besides us who has the keys. We are very disappointed!!!
